Cedric did not register Lucas and Melody's responses at all after asking them the question. He just kept staring at the words 'Surgery in Progress' above the operating room door, not knowing when the light would finally go out.

Lucas gripped Cedric's hand tightly, his fingers slightly trembling. Melody had long been silently shedding tears. Her heart tightened even more when she observed Lucas and Cedric with growing concern. The Riveras would face its biggest challenge yet if Beatrice passed away. Especially Melody, whom Beatrice doted upon from the moment she married into the family.

Melody had grown up in a family without love, but both Cedric and Beatrice more than made up for it. It was thanks to Beatrice that she was finally able to experience what family warmth felt like. Thus, how could she not feel anxious when her grandmother-in-law was lying on the cold operating table?

The light above the operating room went out. It was eerily quiet, yet Melody reacted as if she heard the sound of the light going out. She stood up reflexively and, along with Lucas and Cedric, crowded around the door of the operating room.

It was not until the doctor came out and told them that everything was over that she emerged from that fog of confusion.

"Doctor, how is she?"

The doctor's expression was relatively relaxed, which provided them with a great deal of comfort. Lucas did not speak, but his intense gaze was also awaiting the doctor's verdict.

"There's no need to worry. The blood clot in Missus Rivera's brain has been successfully removed. Now, it's just a matter of when she'll wake up. However, she may not recover immediately after waking up as you might hope. Everything will depend on further observation."

At that point, the doctors could only ensure that Beatrice had survived the life-threatening situation, but the subsequent recovery depended on her own body.

The moment Melody heard this news, tears welled up in her eyes. She never found the doctor's words so comforting.

"Thank you, Doctor," she said, her voice choked with emotion.

Cedric with tears welling in his eyes too-could not replace words to say. Still, he managed to stutter, "T-Thank you!"

Even Lucas choked up, displaying a vulnerability he had never shown before.

Melody took the time to sincerely thank the doctor before guiding Cedric to sit down in a chair.

"Grandpa, take it easy. I'll go get some water for you. Lucas, stay here with Grandpa," she said.

She wiped her tears away. Since Beatrice was out of immediate danger, she was certain that she would recover well.

With this determination in mind, she

went to get some hot water for them

both. Considering the significant emotional upheaval they had just experienced, Cedric needed to

replenish himself with some food as soon as possible.

With Beatrice already down, Melody could not afford to have Cedric suffer any accidents due to such shocks.

Cedric and Lucas' hands remained tightly clasped together. Soon after, Beatrice was wheeled out.

Seeing his wife lying there so

peacefully, Cedric could not help but turn his face away, feeling a pang of pain in his heart. He kept blaming himself, thinking that if only he had insisted on accompanying her upstairs, perhaps then she would not have fallen down the stairs.

It seemed like Lucas understood what was going through his mind as he gently patted his back.

"Grandpa, Grandma is out of danger now. She will wake up," Lucas said, not just to reassure Cedric but also to reassure himself.

Just like Melody said, Beatrice

would Surely wake up. They had

not

had a proper farewell yet. How could she behind?

bear to leave them could
