The Day I Kissed An Older Man -
Chapter 2555
Wendy stopped eating and placed the bowl to one side. She seized Melody's hair forcefully and yanked her closer.
"Ah!" Melody winced as pain shot through her scalp.
"You think you're so great, don't you?" Wendy's voice dripped with contempt. "Who are you to offer me that money? How much do you have, huh? Why are you so pretentious?"
Wendy detested Melody's air of superiority, especially as Melody continued to cling to her aloofness despite being kidnapped.
"Let me go," Melody pleaded with tears welling in her eyes after her hair had been tugged.
"Hahaha! Sure, but you need to beg me first!" Wendy demanded.
"I beg you! Please, Wendy, let me go!" Melody's voice quivered with desperation.
Unsure of when they would discover her absence, Melody swallowed her pride and begged Wendy to try and buy Lucas some time to replace her.
"Hahaha! This is how far you'd fall after all! I knew I should've acted sooner. Seeing you cry and beg like this is super satisfying!" Wendy shoved Melody away, causing her head to thud against the bed with a dull thump. Melody blinked her eyes and was temporarily dazed.
Wendy did not seem to notice Melody's pain and began to glance across the dilapidated room. "Now tell me what it is you think you've done wrong. You've made countless mistakes over the years, but if you ask me, your biggest mistake was being born. Your existence ruined my life!
"If I had smothered you under a pillow when you were still a baby, I wouldn't be stuck in your shadow right now. Your own mother is now hospitalized because of you! If were you, I would've just hung myself already, but you took it a step
further and married into the Riveras! Your shamelessness knows no bounds!"
Melody felt that Wendy had lost her mind. That was the only explanation for Wendy's severe delusions.
"If you think being born into the
Sander family was my choice, then you're mistaken," Melody gasped. Neither Helen nor Wendy had even, considered the fact that Melody did not want to be born at all if given the choice She would have chosen to be born in another family if she could. She had a stepfather, a mother who did not love her, and a half-sister who despised her to the core. Looking back, Melody did not know how she even managed to
survive that long.
Melody found Lucas years of hardship later, and he became her pillar of love and support. The thought of him made her clench her fists, and she was determined to escape even if it was for his sake. Melody's tone softened, and a hint of sorrow tinged her voice. "I owe you nothing when my mother never loved me in the first place, Wendy. Hasn't Helen always treated you well?"
"Helen's kindness to me is pointless if it's all fake!" Wendy's eyes welled with tears. "She's just pretending! She's only doing this because she's afraid of being labeled an evil stepmother! That's all there is to it."
