Chapter 1995 Two Bad News

Nicole smiled and nodded.

Kai chuckled and said, "Good morning? It's almost noon! That's funny... Clayton went up to deliver milk to you, but it took two hours for you guys to come down. What a lovey-dovey couple!" Nicole took a breath and told herself not to get angry.

Her face flushed with embarrassment as she glared at Kai. She stretched out a finger and pointed at him confidently.

"You're just jealous of the two of us! We were talking about work just now. What do you know?!"

Clayton, who was on the side, heard this and accidentally laughed out loud.

Kai laughed even harder.

"Talking about work, huh? Your husband said that you guys were watching a movie!"

It turned out that Kai was just mocking her. He was just as cunning as ever.

Nicole raised her chin and said, "Right. I wanted to invest in a movie, so we were doing some research."

Kai obviously did not believe her, but he had more important things to do, so he stood up with his coat, checked the time, and planned to head out.

Nicole immediately went downstairs and told him solemnly, "I have one bad news and another bad news. Which one do you want to hear first?"

Kai frowned. "They're all bad news, so I don't want to hear either!"

Since Kai learned the good news of Tyler's arrest last night, his suave temperament returned.

Kai looked at the time and urged her." Come on. I have a lunch appointment with Jules. I'm supposed to pick her up!"

"The bad news is that Tyler escaped and that we're in danger.

Kai was shocked, and his pupils suddenly enlarged.

Nicole continued, "The other bad news is that I spent all the money from your card!"

In an instant, Kai's face turned pale and angry. He did not know how to describe his current mood >a+;UNQ? was speechless.

The corners of his mouth twitched, and he frowned and gritted his teeth.

"You're not joking, right?"

Nicole shook her head.

"No, I swear."

Kai sat back on the sofa listlessly. The feeling of powerlessness instantly extinguished his high spirits.

It looked like Kai was back to being frightened like before.

It was so pitiful.

Nicole suddenly felt remorseful. When she saw that Kai was more afraid than her, the helplessness and panic she felt just now disappeared. Clayton coughed and came over.

"Third Brother, don't worry. I've already increased security to covertly protect everyone in the mansion. It'll be fine."

Kai raised his eyelids lightly, sniffled, and took a while to digest the information.

After a while, he looked at the two people in front of him.

"Are you two working together to swindle my money?"

Nicole also felt guilty.

She smiled bleakly with a strong sense of helplessness.

Kai blinked and shook his shoulders. He had no choice but to accept these facts.

He took out his phone and called Julie.

"Jules, I can't go on a lunch date with you today. I'll double the number of bodyguards to protect you. You have to be careful during this time of danger!" Julie said something and hung up.

Kai looked at the darkened phone screen and cursed Nicole.

"Stupid sister!"

Nicole looked away guiltily and went to eat at the table.

Stanton Mansion.

In order to accompany Nicole, Clayton simply worked from home.

Fortunately, the greenhouse behind the Stanton Mansion was big enough, and they usually liked to appreciate the flowers, drink tea, and chat in there.

It was sunny and not windy.

Roland came over to report about work. He happened to meet Nicole and the many friends that she invited to pass the time.

Clayton was pruning and watering Nicole's flowers in the greenhouse.

Roland was a little stunned when he saw this, but he quickly recovered his expression and spoke.

"Mr. Sloan, Tyler is very cunning. Although we've investigated a few places where he has appeared, the building was already empty when our people went over. It seems like he's staging all this just to confuse us. Also, there are several warehouses in South Africa that have been bombed in succession. If we don't take measures soon, the others who are standing on the sidelines will start to act up."

Clayton was not surprised by this. He nodded his head and lowered his head to prune the branches, looking content.

Roland paused. After a few seconds of silence, he asked Clayton, "Mr. Sloan, are you trying to attract Tyler's attention? Is it because you're afraid that Tyler will target Ms. Stanton?" Clayton paused and chuckled in a low voice. "Is it that obvious?"

Roland said, "Mr. Sloan, our original plan was to create this smokescreen after the key information is in our hands. Aren't you diverting their attention by doing this one step ahead?" Clayton raised his eyebrows. "Right."

Roland hesitated. "This will anger Tyler even more when he knows that he has been tricked. I'm afraid that he won't just let it slide."

Clayton chuckled lightly without a care and glanced at the crowd outside the glass.

Nicole's happiness was in stark contrast to Kai's sadness.

Even though Julie also invited a lot of people to come over, Kai sat sullenly on the lawn and looked up at the sky.

Fortunately, Nicole was not that affected.

Clayton let out a low laugh and quickly regained his composure.

"Tyler escaping must have been the higher-ups' plan. Nicole was deceived, and what she thought was a cooperation turned out to be a show. It's simply overkill if Tyler was arrested for smuggling cultural relics I'm guessing that the higher-ups want to keep him as bait to catch a bigger target."

Roland was silent for a few seconds, then he nodded.

"Ms. Stanton is so unlucky..."

Yes, she was.

Clayton squinted his eyes. The higher-ups did not reveal their plan at all, so he did not dare to tell Nicole anything.

It did not matter since Nicole would not be in danger as long as she did not roam around outside.

Tyler, dressed in a janitor's uniform, sat opposite Eric.

His face was red from anger.

"That b*stard Clayton and his woman deserve to die. How dare they frame me?! I must get my revenge!"

Eric lowered his eyes and looked at his bodyguard with a cold expression. He did not raise his head and said, "It must be Clayton's idea. Nicole couldn't think of such a plan."

"Bullsh*t! That woman is insidious and cunning! I finally understand why people say we shouldn't trust women. When I get my hands on her, TH torture her and make her beg for death!" Eric's eyes flickered, and he lifted his eyelids.

"Clayton is the insidious and cunning one. He knew that you'd let down your guard against Nicole, so he made Nicole come forward. Otherwise, how would he get the opportunity to humiliate you?"
