The Deserted Rich Beauty (Nicole and eric) -
Chapter 2037 I Like Clingy People
In an instant, Cheryl froze in place.
She suddenly understood all of Eric's abnormal behavior tonight.
Eric bid a sky-high price for that raw diamond not because of Chery's passing compliment, but because he wanted to give the best things to Nicole, even when Nicole was already married to someone else! Thus, when Nicole offered a price, Eric immediately stopped bidding.
Was it because he was afraid that Nicole would spend more money, or because he was afraid that Nicole would get angry?
Cheryl could not imagine what was the relationship between Eric and Nicole.
Thinking of this, Cheryl immediately called Gerard.
Her tone was restrained and calm.
"Brother, what's the relationship between Mr. Ferguson and Ms. Stanton?"
Gerard was silent. "You just returned to Mediania, so you don't know what happened between them. Anyway, don't harbor any thoughts about him."
After speaking, Gerard hung up the phone.
Cheryl stood there in a trance when Eric's driver came over and asked her, "Ms.
Eichman, do you need me to take you home?"
She looked in Nicole's direction.
Cheryl saw the bodyguard handing over the velvet box to Nicole, but Nicole just thanked him indifferently without taking it. Nicole rolled up the car window while the bodyguard stood there, holding the box awkwardly.
Soon, Clayton got into the car, and their car disappeared from Cheryl's sight.
Cheryl looked back at the driver.
"Yes, please. Thank you."
She said dryly.
Cheryl went through a roller coaster of emotions that night.
Nicole took out her phone to look at her message and replied with interest.
Clayton leaned over. "What?"
Nicole said, "The Great Miss Yvette Quimbey is coming back!"
Clayton raised his eyebrows. "I didn't hear that she settled the mess in Cali. Why did she suddenly give up?"
After all, when Yvette left back then, she looked so determined to solve the problem before she would return.
Nicole smiled and sighed as she looked at the passing scenery outside.
"She's pregnant, so Lance won't let her stay there for too long."
Clayton laughed :a%:WNW< stroked the tip of his eyebrow.
"That's great! At least you won't be bored anymore with another friend around."
Nicole smiled and nodded.
"Yeah! I just feel that I'm missing out on a lot of interesting things during this time without Yvette."
Am I boring?"
Don't you know that absence makes the heart grow fonder?"
"Are you implying that I'm too clingy?" Clayton frowned in dissatisfaction.
"I like clingy people."
Nicole hurriedly leaned over to hug Clayton's lean waist and chuckled.
Clayton helplessly let her hug him.
Every time they bickered, Nicole was always on the verge of making him angry, but she would always coax him a second before he got angry. Clayton could not help it because Nicole already figured out Clayton's temper.
The day of Old Master Ferguson's funeral arrived.
Nicole and Grant attended together.
This was due to their connections in the industry, so it did not matter whether Kai and Maverick attended.
Floyd also did not attend because of his identity.
Clayton dropped by for a short while and left in a hurry. He did not stay a second longer.
Fortunately, nothing happened.
The funeral that Eric hosted was not low-key. It was held in a secluded manor owned by the Ferguson family. All media reporters were barred from entering. Anyone who entered must have their identity verified repeatedly.
The weather was a little gloomy that day.
The breeze was also chilly.
Out of respect, all those who went dressed modestly.
When Nicole and Grant went in, Mitchell came to greet them personally.
The memorial hall was grand. However, Old Master Ferguson had been cremated long ago, so a black and white photo of him was placed in the middle.
The air in the hall was cold and solemn.
The Stanton siblings bowed in front of Old Master Ferguson's portrait and could smell the fragrance of sandalwood.
Eric looked a little embarrassed, and he could not hide his tiredness.
However, he walked over when the Stantons came to offer their respects.
Grant said, "Mr. Ferguson, my condolences."
Eric nodded. When he looked up again, he looked at Nicole.
Nicole pursed her lips. "My condolences."
Eric lowered his eyes that had a flash of tenderness.
"Don't mind that gift. I gave it to you because I felt I owed you. If you don't want it, I won't force it on you."
His voice was gruff, hoarse, and tired.
It seemed that he had completely let go of his past with Nicole.
Nicole hesitated for a few seconds before she realized that the gift he was referring to was the ring from the day of the auction.
She nodded and did not say much.
It was not appropriate to talk about other things on this occasion.
Other guests came one after another, and Eric needed to greet them.
Eric glanced at Nicole and said, "Please help yourself."
He then walked out.
Nicole felt that Eric had really let go of the past.
This was good for both parties.
Grant led Nicole to the other side of the hall.
"I saw your sister-in-law's classmate, so I'll go and say hello."
This meant that Grant did not want Nicole to follow.
She was also not interested.
"Okay. I'll walk around by myself. Call me later."
Grant patted her head.
Okay, wait for me here.
Nicole nodded obediently.
It was too dull inside, so Nicole walked out.
That was when she noticed smoke coming from a small building not far from here.
She thought, 'It's smoke! Is the building on fire?'
Nicole looked stunned because she was unsure. She did not want to trouble anyone rashly.
Thus, she went over by herself.
It was quiet inside without any sound.
However, thick smoke kept coming out from the gap in the window on the second floor and scattered into the air.
Nicole paused and felt a little anxious for no apparent reason.
She did not know if anyone was up there.
If anyone was trapped, they would have called for help, right?
Suddenly, Nicole heard something.
It sounded like someone was rapping the glass window continuously.
Nicole was stunned for a moment and hurriedly shouted for help before she wanted to rush in.
The smoke inside got thicker.
Someone was obviously trapped up there.
How could Eric make such a low-level mistake?
Nicole did not have time to think about it. She did not see flames, which meant that the source of the fire was not nearby.
She went upstairs in a few steps, but the door would not budge.
It was locked by someone so that whoever was trapped could not get out!
Nicole was horrified.
When she heard a commotion downstairs, she knew that someone would come soon to put out the fire.
She breathed a sigh of relief and quickly saw that the door of the room on the other side was open.
Nicole remembered seeing that the balconies of the two rooms were connected when she was downstairs.
She pushed the door in and ran directly to the balcony, only thinking about the locked room next door. There was a railing in the middle.
Nicole could hear the rapping on the glass window getting faster, so she did not have time to think much about it. She took off her high heels and climbed over.
Downstairs, Eric and many others were attracted by Nicole's cry for help.
Everyone was shocked to see this scene.
"Nicole! What are you doing?! Come down now!"
Eric's face suddenly turned pale.
Grant also ran over, panting.
"You..."
Before Grant could finish speaking, he saw smoke coming out of the window and was shocked.
"Fire! Quick, put out the fire!
