The Deserted Rich Beauty (Nicole and eric) -
Chapter 2264 Finding a Needle in a Haystack
Nicole shook hands with the man gently and smiled. He had an accent and spoke eloquently.
However, he did not seem like a native English speaker.
"You're welcome."
"Ms. Stanton, I heard that your friend is still there. To thank you for your help, we'll help you rescue your friend while we capture Sebastian and destroy the laboratory. What's his name?" Nicole lowered her eyes slightly, pursed her lips, and was silent for a few seconds.
"Jeff Lieberman. He's a disabled person and has limited mobility, so please make sure he's safe."
"Okay."
The man agreed and glanced at Luca with some scrutiny.
"Ms. Stanton, since you brought your own bodyguard, I hope you can protect yourself later."
"Mr. Upton, you don't have to care about me. I just want to replace my friend."
Connor nodded.
Leighton came out and patted Connor on the shoulder.
"Shall we start?"
"Okay. I'll leave this to you. Ms. Stanton, since you've been here before, why don't you come in and tell us more about it?"
"Okay."
Nicole nodded.
She would try her best to help since she was already there.
Nicole followed them inside and took a look. The banquet hall in the front was very large and luxurious for events.
The area upstairs was smaller and more refined to cater for the upper class.
When Nicole was here before, she was busy exchanging pleasantries with the guests and did not observe the place carefully.
"Where's the elevator that Ms. Stanton mentioned earlier?"
Connor asked.
Nicole walked there according to what she remembered.
However, there was no sign of an elevator anywhere.
After walking back and forth a few times, Nicole's face paled slightly.
"It can't be an illusion, right?"
Connor also noticed that something was off. "Ms. Stanton, are you sure you remember it correctly? Is it somewhere else?"
Nicole shook her head.
"No, it must be here."
She remembered that she got out of the elevator from the side exit of the banquet hall.
However, it was merely a wall in front of her.
Leighton brought some people over, glanced at Nicole, and shook his head at Connor.
"We can't replace any elevator elsewhere."
Nicole paused. "Shall we go upstairs?"
The cruise was very stable.
They needed to replace the elevator before they arrived at the coordinates so that they could replace the entrance to the laboratory.
It did not take much time, but Nicole just did not expect it to be so troublesome.
There were stairs on the side, so they walked upstairs.
Nicole looked at the familiar scene. Some of the decorations that had been specially arranged before were removed, but overall, the place was still luxurious. She stood at the door of the room where she stayed and walked in the direction she remembered.
The place where the elevator used to be was a wall.
Nicole touched the wall, but there was no switch or button for the elevator.
She was really shocked.
Luca stepped forward and protected her from behind.
"Miss, are you sure it's here?"
Nicole nodded.
How could she remember wrongly?
Before she left, she remembered watching the man in the wheelchair waiting for the elevator.
They got onto the elevator together. Although they did not say a word during the process, they were both in deep thought.
Luca paused, reached out, and knocked on the wall.
It was solid and was not just a divider.
Leighton beckoned for some people. Everyone pushed the wall and tried to move it to replace evidence that the wall was just a cover. However, it did not work.
Suddenly, Nicole thought about the hand gestures that the butler made every time he opened the elevator.
The butler did not seem to press any buttons.
She was shocked and suddenly remembered some details.
"I remember now."
As soon as she said something, everyone moved aside.
The butler was very considerate to get the elevator for the guests every time.
On some occasions, this was not a strange thing.
However, the butler used his body to block the keypad every time he pressed the buttons. It seemed that it might have been unintentional, so no one suspected it.
Nicole suddenly thought about the time when she first arrived. She was a little scared and dizzy because she was in the deep sea.
At that time, the butler immediately pressed something to instantly change the scene, which made Nicole calm down.
The thing he pressed was not a button, but a holographic projection.
Nicole looked around and stood in front of a one-meter-tall vase that was opposite the elevator.
The style of the vase looked medieval European.
Connor also noticed something wrong with this vase.
He took a step forward and touched the protruding part in the middle of the vase.
As soon as he touched it, a light suddenly came on.
The red light shone on the opposite wall.
What used to be a gray wall on the opposite side sensed the light. Soon after, the outline of an elevator appeared automatically. Immediately afterward, the red light disappeared, and an elevator door appeared on the empty wall in front of them.
Everyone was surprised.
Leighton frowned slightly. "Sebastian is really good at hiding."
Connor chuckled lightly. "Indeed. Without Ms. Stanton's help, we wouldn't be able to replace the entrance at all. Even if we got here, we would still be looking for a needle in a haystack."
Nicole walked over to have a look.
At this time, a holographic projection of the up and down elevator button appeared on the wall.
She recalled the butler's gesture and touched the big "A".
Soon, the wall showed a response.
The wall that had no gaps suddenly opened from both sides.
An elevator appeared in front of them.
Nicole gasped. She was indeed familiar with this elevator.
She just did not expect that it would take so much effort to replace it.
No one went into the opened elevator.
Connor glanced at Leighton.
"We found the elevator. How long until our ship arrives?"
Leighton paused. "About half an hour."
"Then we should wait a little longer."
After Connor finished speaking, he looked at Nicole and said, “Ms. Stanton, can I trouble you to draw a road map for us based on your memory?"
Nicole nodded.
"Of course, but Sebastian didn't take us to many places, so it may not be comprehensive enough."
"A general route is fine."
Nicole nodded and led them through the corridor to the previous banquet hall.
The banquet hall was small and exquisite, and the murals on the walls were extremely elaborate.
However, no one cared about that at the moment.
Nicole found a seat and sat down. Leighton handed over a pen and paper to her.
She then drew the route that she remembered, including the scene she saw back then when she went to the underwater laboratory.
After she finished drawing, Connor kept silent.
Even Leighton was slightly surprised.
Leighton took a look and said, "Sebastian is quite nostalgic and made his laboratory the same as our research institute."
