The Deserted Rich Beauty (Nicole and eric) -
Chapter 2467 People Who Would Not Cross Paths
Eric stood there motionless.
His pride would not allow him to keep a woman who had nothing to do with him.
Moreover, there was an ambiguous tension between them.
Eric could not see through his own heart, nor could he see through hers.
Thus, he dared not take a step forward.
That was because he could not promise that he would give her everything as his wife.
Eric was helpless.
He stood there like a sculpture, cold and stiff.
Then, he heard the car engine downstairs.
Selena had probably asked the driver to take her home. With her temper, Selena had already gotten the servants to listen to her only after a few days here.
Eric pursed his lips. His eyes gradually became indifferent.
In the bar, there was no one there during the day. Thus, when Selena went back, no one was around.
At last, she was back on her own turf and did not need to walk around eggshells anymore.
Selena went upstairs, threw her things there, and went back downstairs.
She was not angry because of Eric's words.
There was no need for her to do so.
She just suddenly remembered her unpleasant past and did not want to brush it off as if nothing had happened.
Selena could not pretend that she did not hear it.
She did not want to endure the sadness, so she just came back.
It had nothing to do with Eric, and her past suffering was not caused by him.
Selena wandered the streets alone.
She had no friends or relatives.
She was all alone.
Unknowingly, Selena walked to the gate of a middle school. The children were running around and screaming loudly inside.
They were childish, pure, and hopeful.
It brought back a lot of memories for her.
At least, before she was 18 years old, her grandfather had protected her well. Thus, she did not encounter any bullies in school.
The school was not open to the public. Selena leaned on the railing next to her and watched the children run around.
The breeze blew through the leaves and brushed over her face, bringing a wave of coolness.
Her mood inexplicably improved.
After watching the children for a while, Selena felt a little cold. She shrank her neck and planned to replace a place to eat.
Suddenly, her phone rang.
It was Zachary Salvatore.
Selena paused and picked it up anyway.
The other party chuckled lightly.
"Selena, what are you doing stalking children? Did you like what you saw?"
Startled, Selena quickly looked around and finally saw the man in blue overalls walking toward her.
Selena was dumbfounded and speechless.
It was such a small world!
Zachary's body in those overalls was perfect. From a distance, he was a hundred times better than any male model. Upon closer look, his face was youthful, gentle, and impeccably stunning.
He approached her and raised his eyebrows.
"Selena, I didn't know you were in such a good mood to come here. I called you before, and you said you weren't free and kept postponing our dinner. If you want to reject me, just say so! It's not the first time you've rejected me anyway."
Selena paused and glanced at Zachary's calm eyes.
She felt a little embarrassed.
"Zachary, do I look like such a stingy person? I was really busy this past week and just came back, so I came out to get some air."
Look, Eric was guarding against her in every possible way, but there was such a handsome young hunk in front of her who was always thinking about her.
Selena felt satisfied and proud.
Zachary smiled lightly and pointed inside.
"Wanna come in?"
Selena hesitated. "I tried just now, but they won't let me in."
Zachary took a few steps back, then did a front flip and jumped over the fence. He quickly landed outside the fence and stood beside Selena.
The distance between the two of them was so close that Selena could smell the refreshing scent of fresh laundry on his body.
It was a nice and clean fragrance.
Selena could not help but take a step back. However, before she could stand still, Zachary held her by the waist and lifted her up.
Selena was startled and tightly grasped the railing.
"What are you doing?"
Zachary raised his head and smiled with his pearly whites.
"Don't you want to go in? I'll help you..."
His face seemed to overlap with the boy in his memory.
Selena's heart trembled fiercely. The person she ignored back then still stayed by her side.
He was still so pure. Even his smile was exactly the same.
She hastily grasped the railing and climbed over carefully.
She just did not dare to jump down.
Zachary saw that Selena was holding on tight, so he jumped up again by himself. After climbing over, he stood on the pile of rocks and bent his knees. "Come, Selena. You can step down here."
He patted his knee, not caring that his clothes would get dirty.
For the first time, Selena felt a little embarrassed in front of her junior.
Usually, she had business-like politeness and cautiousness around him.
Now, it seemed that Zachary did not keep her at a distance, which made her feel closer to him.
Selena had long legs, so she could step on his knee if she stretched out her leg.
However, she was afraid that she was too heavy. Then, both of them would fall.
However, she was thinking too much.
She gradually tested and put more weight on Zachary's knee, but Zachary still maintained that posture and did not move.
In the end, Selena stepped on Zachary's knee with all her strength. She did not hear any changes in Zachary's breathing.
Thus, she jumped down and landed smoothly on the ground.
The two looked at each other and smiled. Zachary patted his knee indifferently and helped her brush off the fallen leaves from her shoulders.
"Selena, have you figured out how you're going to get out later?"
Selena was taken aback.
Her expression changed when she looked back at the fence.
Zachary could not help but chuckle.
Selena realized that Zachary was intentionally making fun of her.
She could not help but glare at him.
"I'll just walk out the main door!"
"You should watch out. The school might call the police!"
Selena raised her eyebrows. She immediately refused to go forward and wanted to crawl back to where she came from.
Zachary hurriedly pulled her back and laughed out loud.
"Selena, I was just joking. Don't be scared. You can follow our truck out later."
Only then did Selena realize that there was a large and brand-new fire truck nearby.
She breathed a sigh of relief and glared at him.
"How dare you make fun of me! You think you're all grown up now, huh?"
Zachary hurriedly begged for mercy. "I just didn't expect you to climb back out!"
Selena could not help but laugh at her own stupidity.
Fortunately, most of the students were in class, so no one noticed them.
Only one class of students circled the truck.
Selena asked, "Why did you come here?"
Zachary raised his eyebrows. "The school and the fire brigade are working together to teach children how to use firefighting equipment. I think it'll do you good to listen in on this lesson too..."
Selena understood what he meant and could not help but roll her eyes.
He did not forget to educate her.
However, Selena no longer had to peek outside the fence because of Zachary.
They crossed a path into the small playground.
Several men in uniforms like Zachary were helplessly and patiently dealing with a group of children.
