Chapter 2406 Leftovers

Selena had just finished swiping her card.

Eric frowned and looked at her.

"You paid?"

Selena nodded. "Yeah. Isn't it my treat? I'm not that shameless."

Of course, Selena believed that even if she did not take the initiative to pay, Eric would pay.

However, she did not want to owe him more. It was just a meal, and she could afford it.

Eric glanced at the waiter with a glum expression.

"I said I'd pay later..."

Eric felt embarrassed.

The waiter stood there awkwardly.

'The lady insisted..."

"Alright, don't get angry over such a trivial matter. Mr. Ferguson, it's fine that Ms. Nelson wants to express her gratitude."

Cindy smiled to the side. Her eyes flickered, and she subconsciously sized up Selena.

Seeing that Selena's face was pale and her clothes were quite ordinary, Cindy felt more confident and arrogant.

Selena could not compare to Cindy.

With the way Selena dressed, she would not be able to enter this restaurant without Eric.

So what if Selena paid?

It was just for her ridiculous self-esteem.

Selena should not have come here if she could not afford it.

On the surface, Cindy looked generous and capable.

"Ms. Nelson, do you mind if I join your meal? I made an appointment before, but the restaurant manager canceled it at the last minute. I was really disappointed, so I wanted to come and see who canceled it. But seeing that it's Mr. Ferguson and his guests, I'm reconciled. I shouldn't bother you all."

Eric's expression was calm, and he did not react too much.

"Ms. Yeager, you're too polite. You can come whenever you want."

These words sounded like Cindy had some kind of special privilege over others.

Cindy could go wherever Eric went.

Selena could discern what Eric implied.

Back in the hospital when Selena was discussing Chance's condition with the doctor, Cindy came over to criticize her.

Cindy did not swear at Selena, but her words were harsh.

Cindy had a sense of superiority that was evident in those in power.

Selena never had a good impression of this kind of person. She acted as if nothing happened when she met Cindy again.

Selena did not want to play along with Cindy.

Selena raised her eyebrows and stood there silently.

Cindy smiled meaningfully and deliberately provoked her.

"Ms. Nelson, you don't seem to welcome me, huh?"

Selena blinked. When she smiled, she was a bit reluctant to admit defeat.

"Ms. Yeager, I don't welcome you. After all, I still remember the way you scolded me last time in the hospital. I was scared to death when you smiled at me like that earlier!"

Selena shrugged and ignored Cindy's stiff and glum expression.

Cindy panicked for a moment and turned to look at Eric.

Before she could speak, Selena laughed.

Selena looked at Eric and said calmly, "I settled the bill. Ms. Yeager, if you don't mind, you can finish our leftovers. If you don't want to, you can pay at your own expense. Now that we're done eating, I'm going back to take a rest. I won't disturb your date."

For the first time, Selena felt that this couple was a good match when they stood together.

A b*tch and a b*stard.

Of course, they matched each other!

Selena wanted to stay further away from them after settling her problems.

Otherwise, her life expectancy would shorten.

Selena did not care how awkward it would be for Cindy and went straight back to her seat to get her things.

Cindy stared at Selena's back with a sharp gaze and indescribable anger.

If it was not for Eric being here, Cindy would not have put up with Selena talking to her like that.

Cindy thought, 'Heh! How dare she let me eat her leftovers?'

Eric stood in the shadows, and his expression was unclear. His deep facial features and sharp jawline looked imposing.

His dark eyes were bottomless.

Cindy glanced at him, but Eric was not angry, nor did he intend to speak for her.

This attitude made Cindy feel uncertain.

She took a deep breath and could not help but explain.

"Ms. Nelson doesn't want to forgive me. It was a coincidence that we were in the hospital at the time. At that time, my father..."

Eric looked at her gloomily. His face looked stern and expressionless.

It was obvious that he wanted to keep a distance from her.

Eric interrupted her in a deep voice.

"Don't tell me about the grudges between you and her. I'm not interested in knowing. I won't be a peacemaker either."

Eric glanced at her lightly.

"We've finished our meal. I have something to do in the afternoon, so I can't stay for lunch. As soon as we leave, the restaurant will entertain guests as usual, so feel free to stay."

Eric nodded lightly, tidied his clothes, and walked toward the dining table.

Cindy's face instantly turned pale, and her whole body was tense. She could feel that Eric was trying to avoid her.

Her heart panicked.

There was too much of a gap between them.

Cindy took a deep breath and regained her composure.

"I also have something to do in the afternoon, so I don't have much time for lunch. I can say hello to Young Master Chance though. After all, we've met many times before, and I like him very much." Eric walked ahead without any reaction.

On the other hand, Chance and Selena came out of the restaurant together. Chance was holding Selena's hand and looked elated.

However, when Chance saw Eric and Cindy, he looked away and immediately withdrew his hand.

Selena glanced at him speechlessly.

Eric also noticed this but did not take it seriously.

He pursed his lips and looked at Chance.

"Wait for me at the entrance. I'll take you to school first."

Chance nodded obediently. Then, he looked at Cindy and greeted her politely.

"Hello, Mrs. Yeager."

Cindy raised her eyebrows and went to touch Chance's face enthusiastically.

"Young Master Chance, I haven't seen you for a few days. Have you grown taller again? Congratulations on your discharge!" Chance lowered his head slightly. He looked a little embarrassed and nervous, but he still blushed and thanked her politely.

His attitude was different compared with his natural and friendly attitude toward Selena just now. He was more distant with Cindy. Cindy stood up slowly, glanced at Selena with a sharp gaze, and looked at her with a smile.

"Ms. Nelson, I heard that you encountered some trouble recently. If you need help, you can come to me anytime!"

Selena raised her eyebrows and let out a light laugh. She obviously did not believe that Cindy would be so kind.

"Ms. Yeager, are you kidding me? I'm already thankful that you didn't give me more trouble. How could I bother you?" Selena retorted bluntly and sarcastically to warn Cindy.

In front of Eric, Cindy would still have to weigh her options if she really wanted to make trouble for Selena.
