The Divorced Heiress’s Revenge -
Chapter 1843
"What did you just say... Say that again!" Ryan's breathing became erratic, his bloodshot eyes blazing with a fire capable of scorching heaven and earth.
The man was enraged at this moment, teetering on the brink of collapse. It was a sight that brought immense satisfaction to Jason.
Hence, Jason lifted his chin triumphantly and laughed wildly. "Mr. Hoffman, I should thank you the most for my outcome with Carrie today. If your family had not mistreated Carrie, tortured her to the brink, and resorted to such despicable acts as provoking the sick, wouldn't you and Carrie have gotten married long ago? Could I have had this wonderful fate?"
Earlier, Jason had whispered the news to Ryan. Therefore, Yasmin and Dean had not heard Jason's words.
But now, the two of them felt like lightning had struck them. An overwhelming wave of pain swept through their bodies.
"You're lying!"
Thud!
Ryan grabbed Jason by the collar, almost lifting the latter off the ground. Then, he slammed Jason against the car door.
The entire motion was as fast as lightning, catching even the Solloways' bodyguards off guard.
When the bodyguards attempted to intervene, Yasmin and Dean blocked them from getting close to Ryan.
Jason groaned in pain. He felt as if his spine was about to snap into several pieces. He had grown up pampered and privileged, never having suffered like this.
His voice trembled in fear. "You... What good does it do to get mad at me?! You lost Carrie all by yourself. You couldn't protect your woman, and now you're just venting at me!”
Ryan's face turned deathly pale. His throat filled with a taste of blood.
"Even if I wasn't in the picture, the Salvadors would never allow their daughter to marry into the Hoffman family! Do you think it was my family forcing Carrie into the marriage? She agreed to marry me because she's completely disappointed in you!"
"Shut up!" Ryan screamed hysterically, his fists clenching tightly. He swung his fist toward Jason's face, scaring Jason so much that he shut his eyes.
"Mr. Hoffman!"
Yasmin intervened just in time, her calloused palm enveloping his iron-like fist. "Please... I beg you!"
But Ryan's molars remained tightly clenched. He could not bring himself to suppress the intense fury in his eyes.
"Haha... Go ahead. Hit me! Why aren't you hitting me now?"
Jason understood their reservations, so he tried to provoke them again. "It's because you don't have the guts to do so The Hoffmans have already offended the Salvadors. If you dare to touch me, I'll make sure your family will never land another project in Savrow again! #make your family fall as quickly as it rose!"
In the chilly hours of the morning, Carrie had not yet slept.
Dressed in comfortable, fuzzy loungewear, she was fully engrossed in her drawing in front of the easel.
The delicate, soft sound of a pencil gliding across paper filled the quiet room.
Even with just simple line structures, the person emerging on the paper was instantly recognizable.
It was the man she missed, the one she buried in her heart. Her longing for him tormented her.
Carrie paused. Her trembling
fingertips lightly brushed the bright,
smiling eyes of the man in the
drawing. An overwhelming wave of beautiful memories surged forward. en.swhovels
Her heart ached, and she hastily closed her eyes. Gradually, everything would get better...
She would eventually get used to a life without Ryan, and Ryan would gradually forget about her. He could move on with someone more
outstanding and better suited for
him.
Just then, someone knocked on the door. It was a soft knock, as if the person knocking was also hesitant.
"Ms. Carrie, are you asleep?"
"Not yet. Come in." Carrie turned the portrait over.
