The Divorced Heiress’s Revenge -
Chapter 1877
On this night, some people were on edge, while others schemed in the shadows.
Inside Pivotage, Yvonne led Jace through the dimly lit, luxurious hallways. The man behind her was like a bat lurking in the darkness, sending shivers down her spine. Christopher had been waiting for some time in a highly secretive room.
"Mr. Bailiff, I didn't expect us to meet again so soon."
Christopher smiled and handed him a glass of wine he personally poured. "It's been a long trip. I specially prepared this top-tier wine to welcome you."
Jace's expression was cold and aloof as he blocked the wine glass unblinkingly, showing no respect for his boss's appointed person in charge of Savrow. "Ms. Yvonne has briefed me on the way here."
Seeing that Jace refused to drink, Christopher downed the glass himself. "Really? That saves me some trouble."
"Christopher, you keep bothering a young girl. Do you think I have nothing better to do?" Jace looked at him coldly.
"Tsk, why? Mr. Bailiff, are you showing sympathy for a beauty?"
Christopher glanced sideways at him, his slender finger swirling the glass of wine. "It seems you are not as cold-blooded as I thought. You still have a soft spot."
"I just found it beneath me. The things you made me do were too debasing."
Jace's brows furrowed, his words hidden with blades. "Our boss promoted you as Savrow's person in charge, but your only strategy to retaliate against your enemies was to kidnap someone's wife and children. You even had to replace outside help. Pivotage should just shut down early."
Yvonne's long lashes fluttered, feeling inexplicably satisfied.
In Pivotage, no one dared to speak to Christopher so rudely.
But Jace did not care. He worked for Grant and only listened to the latter.
Sure enough, the meticulously crafted expression on Christopher's delicate face gradually crumbled, and his knuckles holding the wine glass turned white.
He forced himself to endure it. He smiled faintly. "Mr. Bailiff, since we are able to meet tonight, it means the Boss agrees with my plan. You only need to cooperate. Besides, didn't t say my target this time was that young lady. She's just a decoy. I know the previous mission was too easy and without a challenge, which was a waste of your talents. This time, I found a new target for you. I promise you won't be disappointed."
As he spoke, he picked up the document on the table and passed it to Jace.
Jace took it and flipped through the pages. His complicated gaze eventually fixed on the man wearing a police uniform, saying hoarsely
after a while, "He's a police officer?"
"Yes." Christopher sipped his red wine slowly. "He's still young, yet he's already a police captain. Quite a distinguished career and outstanding young man." Yvonne's pupils contracted, and she pinched herself fiercely to manage her shocked expression.
"Ha! Let's hope he's a worthy opponent." Jace tore the man's picture off and put it in his pocket, throwing the document aside.
"Mr. Bailiff, are you taking it up?"
"I won't touch that girl." Jace's expression was determined and cold. "I'm a killer, but I don't bully the weak."
"I understand." Christopher wore a faint smile.
Jace did not bother with another word and turned around, wanting to leave.
"Wait." Christopher's eyes slightly narrowed. "I'll give you an assistant for this mission, just in case. Yvonne, go with Mr. Bailiff.”
"Me...?" Yvonne's heart tightened, and she immediately tried to avoid it. "Mr. Christopher, I can't fight. I'll only hold Mr. Bailiff back..."
"It's safer to have another person helping." Christopher glanced at Yvonne with a half-smile. "Yvonne, you've never rejected any mission I gave you."
At this point, Yvonne could only agree.
After the two left, Taylor, who was silent the whole time, walked to Christopher and leaned down,
whispering, "Mr. Christophet
you're
so skilled at manipulating people." en.swhovels
"Jace really is the Boss's well-trained dog. Without giving him a worthy opponent, it's hard to make him focus on working for me."
