Gregory stormed in with a dark expression, followed by Paul. The resentment Gregory exuded was intense. "It's a beautiful and sunny day. Why do you have such a gloomy face? You're ruining everyone's mood!"

Nigel tutted, turning his gaze away from Gregory's face without hiding his annoyance toward his son. "Seeing you makes my chest tight. I feel like two years are taken off whatever remains of my lifespan!"

Gregory could not bother to bicker with his father and rushed to Carrie, completely ignoring their guests-Ralph and Mila.

"Carrie! Come back with me now!"

Carrie was clearly frightened. Her face was pale, as she subconsciously stepped back and clutched her teddy bear tighter.

Just as Gregory's hand was about to touch her, another hand with bulging veins grabbed Gregory's wrist suddenly.

It was a firm and tight hold, like a handcuff.

Carrie's eyes widened, looking at the tall figure standing in front of her. "Ralph..."

Ralph looked into Gregory's furious eyes and curled his lips coldly. "Chairman Salvador, why don't you speak calmly? You're frightening Carrie."

Gregory panted heavily, unable to free his hand from Ralph's grip. He gritted his teeth in embarrassment and anger. "Let go!"

Ralph's sharp eyes narrowed, and he released his grip casually.

Gregory immediately pulled away by stepping back, lowering his eyes to steal a glance at his wrist. It was purplish in color. He thought, 'Did this damned brat treat me like a criminal?!'

"Old Master Nigel, Mom, it's about time. I'll take Carrie out now." Ralph withdrew the chill in his eyes and said goodbye to Nigel.

"Ralph, didn't you hear what I said? Carrie must come with me. She's not allowed to go anywhere!" Gregory roared.

Nigel fumed. "Carrie had made plans to go on a date with Ralph. Madam Mila came to visit me and Carrie, even preparing gifts. What are you shouting about in front of our guests?!"

"You don't understand the reason behind it. If you do, you won't have this attitude!" Gregory waved his hand impatiently. "Anyway, my daughter can't have anything to do with a son of the Salvador family. Now's not the time; I'll explain it to you later!"

"Wait." Mila's clear and stern voice tore through the tension. She raised her intimidating gaze and stared fixedly at Gregory. "Why did you stop halfway? If you have something to say, don't hide it. Let me hear it Why can't my son associate with your daughter?"

Her naturally authoritative air as the matron of the Thompson family was unmistakable.

Nigel took it in and felt jealous of Wyatt's good fortune. If his son had also married such an outstanding and supportive wife, perhaps he would not have become so extreme and stubborn now.

Gregory burned with anger and sneered, "Madam Mila, do you dare to swear that you brought your son to approach Carrie not because of Bella's instructions?"

Mila's thin brows furrowed.

"You came forward to pressure Mayor Solloway, using election funds as leverage to force the Solloways to give up on Carrie. Isn your aim to interfere and prevent Carrie from marrying into the Solloway family? Your solo act wasn't enough. Bella even roped in your son, publicly embarrassing Jason Solloway at their family's banquet. Isn't it to prove that you guys have your eyes on Carrie?"

Nigel and Matt were stunned.

Carrie did not dare to look at her father, much less Ralph. She closed her eyes, her lashes fluttering as she hugged her teddy bear tighter.

"I thought it was strange. Madam

Mila, you managed the Thompson household for so many years and were never involved in the business or political field. Your son had little interaction with my daughter. But when Carrie was about to get engaged to Jason, you suddenly stepped in to stop it. Who would believe it if you said nobody instructed you?"

After all, Gregory had spent thirty years in business, overanalyzing everything. He sneered, thinking that he had seen through it all. "Carrie and Ryan broke up because they weren't meant to be. Isn't it too

much for Bella to use this method to block my daughter's marriage?

"Let me be clear. Even without the Solloway family, I wouldn't agree with Carrie and Ryan being together. Madam Mila, you and your son approached my daughter with ulterior motives. There's no way I will let Carrie befriend your son. Who knows what you're planning?"

Ralph's eyes twitched, and his fists clenched tightly. But Mila and Nigel were present, so he could not disregard the two families' dignity.

Nigel's gray brows furrowed deeply, and he wanted to say something.
