"Future? There is no 'future' anymore..." Bella broke down in tears, her tears soaking his clothes. "Justin... I'm so exhausted... Sometimes, I even feel like it would be better if you just forgot about me."

She continued, "It would be better than this... Every time I look at you, I'm filled with hope, only to have it crushed into despair time and time again..."

Justin's eyes turned red as he listened to her calm yet heartbreaking voice. Inside, a tidal wave of emotion surged, crashing into his throat and leaving him speechless.

Fortunately, Justin found Bella just in time and gave her emergency first aid.

After being rushed to the hospital, Bella fell into a coma but narrowly escaped the life threatening situation.

She was placed in the ICU for further observation. Apart from treating her frostbite wounds, doctors had to check if her internal organs and brain had sustained any damage.

The gravity of the situation left no room for secrecy. Steven immediately informed Wyatt, as well as Axel and Ralph in Savrow. Even Asher, who had been abroad searching for traces of Arnold and had been silent for so long, was informed.

The Thompson family hurriedly made their way to the Savrow Hospital. A long, restless night undoubtedly lay ahead.

Meanwhile, Justin quietly went to have his gunshot wound treated. The doctor sternly warned him that had he delayed any longer, he would have lost the use of his right arm entirely.

When Ian came rushing into the hospital room in a panic, the nurse had just finished bandaging Justin's wounds. They covered his forehead, arm, shoulder, and ripped-up torso.

The bandages were stained with faint traces of blood-a disconcerting sight. Yet despite his injuries, he maintained an unwavering posture, his back as straight as ever, not even the slightest slouch.

"Mr. Salvador!" Ian's throat tightened, his eyes brimming with tears.

The nurse stepped out, and Justin gave Ian a brief, casual glance before struggling to put on the hospital gown. But rescuing Bella had taken a heavy toll on him. He could barely muster the strength to dress himself at that moment.

"Mr. Salvador, please don't move! Let me help you!" Ian quickly stepped forward, carefully helping Justin into the gown and assisting him to lean against the bed.

He stared at Justin's battered and bruised body, each wound a testament to his devotion to Bella. Ian could not hold back his tears any longer.

"Mr. Salvador... I'm begging you! Don't scare me like this again... If anything else happens to you, I won't want to live either!"

Justin's gaze deepened as he looked at him. "What? Are you planning to die for me?"

Ian sniffled, remaining silent.

"Your devotion should be for the one you love, not for me," Justin murmured, lowering his lashes with visible exhaustion.

His voice was calm and distant, but beneath the surface lay a quiet warmth.

Though his words seemed cold and unfeeling, they carried a protective undertone. No matter what, he did not want those around him to suffer or worry.

But his way of expressing it often came across as detached, leaving others with a bitter chill.

"Who attacked you? I'll investigate and make them pay for what they've done!" Ian said as he wiped his nose, his expression livid with rage.

"Revenge? That guy could take you down with one hand tied behind his back."

Justin closed his eyes, the image of Jace's tall, razor-sharp figure flashing in his mind.

The shift in Jace's demeanor when Grant's name was casually mentioned made Justin question everything about the elder brother he once thought he knew-a man who always exuded angelic warmth.

"Jace..." His eyes darkened, his voice contemplative.

Ian asked cautiously, "Who?"

Jace did not intend to kill him. What Jace wanted was clear-to stop him from meeting Bella, no matter the cost.
