Chapter 81 Good Friends

"When did you get back?" Ranita rushed over, but Eve Riley quickly halted her with a loud voice,"Slow down! No running!"

Ranita embraced Eve tightly.

"Why didn't you inform me about your return?" Ranita's voice was muffled, her nose and eyes werered, and her grievances poured out uncontrollably.

It had been a challenging time for Ranita lately, but her friend wasn't there to confide in.

Now that Eve had finally returned, all the pent-up emotions found an outlet and couldn't becontained any longer.

“I wasn't sure if I could come back, so I didn't give you advance notice!" After a pause, Eve guiltilyapologized, "I'm sorry I wasn't there for you immediately.”

"Why are you apologizing?” Ranita knew that despite Eve's glamorous appearance in public, filmingwas actually grueling work. This time she was part of a strict production crew in a small mountainvillage with limited internet access.

"You said you had to finish filming before returning. Why did you suddenly come back? Won't itaffect your work?" Ranita knew it would be another two months before Eve finished filming.

"Of course I had to come back! Something this significant happened, and yet I didn't receive asingle phone call from you!" Eve gritted her teeth while discussing the matter. "If Dylan hadn'tinformed me, I would still be clueless!"

Eve glared fiercely at Ranita, touching the corner of her eye with her finger. "And yet you have theaudacity to show up with red eyes!"

“Are you the only one hurt?"

Ranita, Dylan, and Eve were good friends, but Eve often acted like an authoritative figure.

“I'm sorry! I just didn't want anything to distract or upset your performance.” Ranita tried to explainherself, but Eve launched a barrage of attacks. "Ha ha! You're just making excuses! Are you tellingme you're afraid I'll cause trouble for Brendon? Why are you so foolish? It's already now, and you'restill thinking about him?! And what about the baby in your belly?! Are both you and Dylan crazy?!Are you saving it for the new year or something?! Do you think having a baby is easy? Never mind ithe Stuart family or Brendon replace out later - how will they react? Even if you hide it and give birth,you'll have to juggle work and raising your child. How will the child inquire about their father in thefuture? What will your response be?"

In reality, many celebrities in the entertainment industry secretly give birth. Eve had heard numeroustories like this. Single motherhood isn't easy!

"Don't talk about yourself like that. While I can afford to raise a child, there are risks involved ingiving birth. What if something happens to you? What am I supposed to do with Dylan? Youdivorced Brendon, so why should you risk your life to have his child?"

"Now rest well, and tomorrow we'll go and..." Eve interrupted Ranita with a dismissive gesture.Seeing how agitated Eve was, Ranita tried to calm her down. "Eve, don't get worked up! I'veconsidered all the issues you mentioned, and I... I've decided to keep this baby, not for Brendon'ssake."

"The baby is innocent.” Pausing for a moment, Ranita embraced Eve. "Think about it - having anadorable little one holding your hand and calling you "auntie." Wouldn't that make you happy?Besides, with all the money you make, can't you help me out with formula and diapers?”

Eve's earlier words were merely out of concern for Ranita. She understood how challenging it woulcbe for her friend - working while pregnant and raising a child alone.

But as Ranita said, the thought of holding a soft little bundle was undeniably appealing.

Eve snorted and crossed her arms. "Not happy! Unless... he or she calls me 'godmother'!"
