The Elements
I'm speechless

As soon as I opened my eyes, I closed them back to stop the sun from melting my eyeballs. I groaned and turned around, burying my face in my pillow.

Hmmm. My bed has never been this soft.. And why does it smells like cologne? Probably dad slept here. I should get ready for school because I don’t want to be late again or I’ll get a detention again. I opened my eyes with a sigh.

Wait since when my sheets are grey?

I jumped out of that bed when I finally realized that this was NOT my bed. I started to look frenetically around me trying to figure out where I am.

This room was not mine and that’s for sure. This one was 2 times bigger than mine with white walls and modern furniture and that enormous flat TV is not mine for sure, even though I wish to have it. My room didn’t have either a balcony nor a king sized bed or a walk-in closet.

How the hell I ended up here in the first place?

I tried to remember what happened yesterday and I couldn’t remember a single thing. When a sudden urge to rub my forehead came and when I touched my forehead, last day events came all flooding back.

Three bald bad guys with scars, three good guys, the bad guys turning into some kind of monsters and jumped to attack the good guys, then me screaming and running with someone after me, and then BAM I ran into a tree and everything is black.

OH MY GOD! SOMEONE KIDNAPPED ME.

Shit, I’m so dead if the bad guys are the ones that ran after me and brought me here, but I’m not going to stay here and wait for my own dead. I need to replace a way out. I looked around searching for something until my eyes landed on the balcony. I smirked and tried to open the balcony door.

Key word: tried.

It was locked! Of course it is! No kidnapper is stupid enough to leave the balcony door unlocked for the kidnapped person to escape.

Maybe I can pick the lock.

I started to search in my hair for a bobby pin, but unfortunately I found none. Out of all this days, I decided to not take a bobby pin with me exactly this fucking day. It looks like I ran out of luck.

Okay, back to searching for a way out. Right next to what looks like a study table was a window, and a big one too. I ran to that window and tried opening it. It started to open but it got stuck. I placed my feet on the tiny gap between the window and the frame, and I clenched my hands around the window’s knob. I started to push into my legs to get more power and the window was starting to move when a voice startled me.

“What are you doing?”

I started to scream and jumped off the window’s frame. I turned around and see Hazel standing there looking like he saw a blue unicorn.

My eyes went wild and a spark of hope started to burn in me. “Hazel! I’m so, so happy to see you! You need to help me to get the hell out of here! Someone kidnapped me a-and I know it sounds crazy, but I was in the woods and there were 3 scary guys but I think they were actually demons or something, but I know for sure that they were not humans. Oh, and there were another 3 guys, but they were looking like good guys and then the demons jumped and I jumped too and I also screamed and I started to run and they chased me and I kind of ran into a tree and that’s the moment when they kidnapped me!!! You need to help me please!” I finished my speech and I took a deep breath and dropped my hands which I used for gesticulating.

The only thing Hazel did was to laugh. He laughed like I told him the greatest joke ever and I started to feel very annoyed by his hyena laugh.

“Shut up! I don’t see what’s so funny, you idiot! I was kidnapped for fucks sake, and all you do is laugh at me while I’m having a crisis?!” I yelled at him and tried to calm down when the lights flickered.

He finally stopped and glanced at the lights and back at me. “Sorry. I promise that I’ll explain everything, but first thing first,” he said and looked at me with a serious face “how do you know my name?”

I could fell my face heating up. “I didn’t know your name was Hazel. I called you that because I didn’t know your name and your eyes are hazel.” I said and avoided his gaze.

He blinked twice and he started to laugh again. This time my face was red in anger. Before I could blow the lightbulbs off, I walked to him and kicked him right in his sensitive spot. He fell on the floor groaning and holding his what could have been his babies.

“I dare you to laugh one more time at me! I dare you! Do it one more time and I’ll-” I started to threaten him when a deep voice stopped me.

“Or what? What can a little girl like you do to him?” I looked at the door and I saw a guy with black hair, green eyes and a too damn serious face leaning against the door’s frame.

I took a step back because of his intense glare. If looks could kill, I would be dead now. The glare was stronger than mine, I give him that, but I won’t admit it out loud.

“W-Who are you?” I said and cursed myself for stuttering.

“Huh, it looks like the fierce girl vanished into thin air. Am I so scary?” he said and started to walk up to me, but with each step he took ahead, I took one back.

Usually, I would just stay tall and I would slap him right across his face, but his evil smirk and that evil spark in his eyes scared the shit out of me.

My backing finished when the back of my knees came in contact with that bed. How much I hate that bed now. The evil thing stopped right in front of me, apparently not knowing the notion of personal space. His nose was touching mine and his deep green eyes were staring right in my blue-green ones.

Pull yourself together you idiot.

As much as I hate the little voice in my head, it was right. I need to pull my shit together and that’s exactly what I did. I gave him one of my famous dead glares and pushed him with all my strength and he tumbled backwards.

“She’s back and no. You’re not that scary. You just took me by surprise, that’s all.” I said on a neutral tone.

Hazel was still on the floor and his eyes were as big as a potato and his jaw could hit the floor if he would bend down a little. The evil was on the floor too and looked taken back, but then his face breaks into a smirk.

“I like you and I’ll train you. You have that spark, I can see it in you, but you have a lot of things to learn.” he said and got up from the floor.

I never was so confused in my entire life. “What? What train? What spark? Learn what? Why I’m here? I don’t understand.” I said and sighed before I took a seat on the edge of the bed.

“Aaaa Ash. She doesn’t know about....aaaa.... us.” Hazel finally managed to say.

Ash’s eyes flashed with understanding. “Now I understand why he screamed like a crazy old lady when she saw the darks.”

I was even more confused that I was before and that started to irritate me. “Can someone explain me what’s going on? Please. My head starts to hurt from all this questions.”

“Fine. I’ll give you answers. First do you are a really really fast runner?” Ash said and studied me.

“Yes.” I hesitate a little before I answered.

“Okay next question. Do you remember anything since you were..... I don’t know maybe 5?”

“No.” okay, I’m starting to feel like something was off because I never could remember anything from my past since I was 10.

“Okay. Now the last question. When you are angry, and I mean very angry almost raging, weird things happen around you?” he asked and stared at me.

My eyes were wide and my mouth was suddenly dry.

“Y-yes....I mean no, I mean maybe. But I still don’t understand how can you know all of this and why all this things happened! What the hell is going on here?! Are you some kind of stalker or what??” I was starting to panic and my head was hurting.

“Calm down....” Hazel started to say but he stopped when he realized he didn’t knew my name.

“Shadow. My name is Shadow.”

“Calm down Shadow. Nothing is wrong with you! Many other persons had the same things as you, but it’s a good thing. Great even.” he said and tried to hold my hand, but I was panicking too much. I pulled my hand back like fire just touched me and I jumped away from him.

“GOD, TELL ME WHAT HAPPENS TO ME! STOP AVOIDING THE ASWEAR!” I yelled at them and the damn lights started to flicker.

“So it was you.” Hazel mumbled, looking a little panicked, while Ash was looking rather amused. What the fudge is wrong with him?

He finally decided to say something, but that something wasn’t that kind of something I was expecting, nor what I wanted to hear. Not that I knew what I wanted to hear. I was in a state of pure panic that wouldn’t let me things straight.

“To put it short S, you are not human.” he said calmly as he stared at me, probably waiting for my reaction.

I scoffed. “Do you really thing I believe you? Fine. Let’s say you’re right and I’m not human. Then, what am I? A unicorn? Or maybe a Pegasus? No! I’m a gnome!” my voice was full with sarcasm.

Ash rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. “No, idiot. Unicorns and Pegasus live in another dimension and they don’t have a human form. You honey, are an Elementar, like me and Hazel.”

I stared at him in this disbelief, waiting for him to start laughing and tell me that he was messing with me, but that never happened. His face was dead serious and he was pinning me with his emerald eyes.

“W-what is a Elementar? It that a bad thing? What do you mean with another dimension? It’s really hard for me to believe that.” I said and rubbed my face with my hands, trying not to pull my hair out in frustration.

“An Elementar is a person who can control one element. We aren’t human even if we look like them. Besides the capability of controlling one element, we are faster, smarter and stronger than humans. We are more powerful than any other supernatural creature. This world is composed from many different dimensions like Vampire dimension, Werewolf dimension, Unicorn and Pegasus dimension, Fairy dimension etc. And we, the Elementars, are the guardians of this world with all his dimensions. Is it clear enough now?” Ash asked with a raised eyebrow.

I couldn’t mutter a single word. I was completely speechless. Dimensions? Controlling the elements? Guardians? The most powerful creatures? ME being one of them? That’s insane!

“That’s impossible! I-I can’t be an element and something! I can’t protect a fly! I can’t even arrive at school in time without running like a maniac! For God’s sake! I can’t even make friends! My only friend is Arnold and he is a tree! And I can’t believe you two are element something. Or that I’m that thing.” I stuttered at the average of crying.

A part of me felt that what they say is the true, but the other part of me wants it to be wrong because I know I’m weak and I can’t even protect myself.

Ash snorted. “It’s Elementar! Not element something or that thing! We are persons too! We are not some damn things!” he said with so much venom that I flinched. “Hazel, make her believe that we really are Elementars because if I’ll show her, it won’t be in a very nice way.”

Damn, that glare could kill an elephant. Thank God I’m not an elephant.

“Okay, I’ll show her.” I was about to ask how,but he cut off. “Just look into my eyes and you’ll see.”

I just nodded my head and stared into his hazel eyes, praying to God for nothing to happen and wake up from this nightmare. He waited patiently for a second to see if I was paying attention, and then,he blinked. When he opened his eyes they weren’t their usual, beautiful hazel color anymore. They were green, but not a normal grass green. This green was an inhuman one, as much I could tell. It was some kind of neon, rich musky green. I gasped in shock and he blinked again. This time his eyes were a bloody red and when he blinked again, they turned into a gorgeous shade of dark blue. He blinked one last time and his eyes were back to their normal, hazel color.

I was shocked and completely speechless. I couldn’t move or say a thing. I was totally lost.

“The first color was my element color. The second one was the color they turn when I’m angry, and the last one was my inner spirit color. Guess what element I can control.” Hazel said and squeezed my shoulder in reassurance when he saw how shocked I was.

“E-earth.” I whispered and looked at him a little bit scared because I know how strong he is and how he can chop my head of with his bare hands.

“Bingo! Now stop looking at me like I’m going to kill you,’cause I won’t.” he said and looked at me with his soft gaze.

I nodded my head. “Okay, I believe you now, but what’s your element? And mine?” I said and looked at Ash.

“To replace out what element you can control, you’ll have to take a little test tomorrow and I’ll show you my element after that test.” Ash said and stared at me.

“A test? What I have to do? It’s like a pop quiz or....” I trailed off awkwardly, still trying to come at peace with the idea that I’m not human.

Hazel started to laugh and even Ash chuckled. “No, it’s not a paper quiz. You’ll be put into some kind of trance because that is the only way you can access that part of your mind where your Elementar side is kept. When you arrive there, you’ll have to pass a test in order to win your Elementar power. Now, the test varies. It’s different for everyone, you can say that it depends on your personality, element and whatsoever.” Ash explained to me.

“And what if I fail?” my stomach churned and I had a bad feeling about his answer.

“You’ll die.” he simply said.

“WHAT? Why?” I told you I had a bad feeling.

I’m completely screwed.
