The Ex-Wife Strikes Back By Queena Laurie -
Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Therefore, since Aurelia dared to dress like this that day, she was already prepared to pay any price.
The expression of the female attendant at the front desk became even more respectful as soon as she heard the number 718. She quickly and politely said, “Please wait a moment! Then she picked up the phone and dialed a number.
After the call was connected on the other end, without waiting for a response from the female attendant, the other party. immediately said something, only to hear the female attendant kept saying, “Okay. Okay!”
Then the female attendant hung up the phone, quickly walked out from behind the front desk, and said, “Hello, Ms. Swanson. The guest is already waiting for you. Please follow me.”
“No problem.”
Aurelia nodded politely and followed the female attendant into the adjacent golden elevator.
From beginning to end, this scene was observed by the two young men who were checking in, but they remained composed. and showed no abnormal expressions.
But after Aurelia and the female attendant entered the elevator, the two young men quickly finished their check–in procedures and went downstairs.
The entire seventh floor, starting from where the elevator was, was covered with thick, dark green carpets.
Even the thinnest high heels made no sound as they stepped on it.
The walls on both sides of the corridor were bright with recessed lighting. Some elegant oil paintings were hanging on the walls between the intervals of the lights.
Compared to the somewhat outdated exterior of Navarre Hotel, the entire seventh floor was like an interior palace.
Though lacking the materialism of the nouveau riche, it was still a luxurious privileged floor that required an enormous amount of money to build.
Room 718 sounded like an ordinary room number.
But on the entire seventh floor, there were only six rooms. And Room 718 was the largest and most luxurious one.
It was clear why the female attendant became so respectful upon hearing that the guest was staying in Room 718.
At this time, it happened that no officials came to inspect. If there were, the minimum level for staying in Room 718 would be at the state governor level.
The room would remain mostly vacant, even on ordinary days without officials‘ visits. But that day, a young person had managed to check himself in, which could not be accomplished simply by having money.
Anyone with a little bit of sense could guess that the person staying in the room must have a formidable background.
“Ms. Swanson, Room 718 is just ahead. The distinguished guest asks that you enter by yourself. I can only accompany you
here.”
“Thank you! I understand. I’ll go in by myself.”
“Okay, Ms. Swanson! I’m leaving now. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to get in touch with the front desk.”
Aurelia nodded slightly, then walked forward on her own. In a few steps, she reached the door of Room 718. She straightened her posture and calmly pressed the doorbell.
On the couch in the room, Hayden was lazily answering the phone. “Hey, Jacob! When are you coming? The person you wanted to meet is already here.”
The background noise on the other end of the phone was loud and chaotic, clearly coming from a nightclub or bar.
“I’m still having a great time here! Let’s talk later!”
The voice was loud, as if afraid that Hayden could not hear it
Hayden furrowed his brows. Before he could say anything, he heard the doorbell of the room ringing. He knew the woman who had originally arranged to meet Jacob had arrived.
Immediately, he stood up and threw a resentful remark into the phone. “Then I might as well tell that woman to get lost! Anyway, you were the one who promised to meet her. Now that you’ve stood her up, I don’t have time to deal with your troubles!”
“Hey, hey, hey… Hayden, wait a minute. Don’t do that. How about this? Just meet her, and say something random to get by. Just handle it casually!”
“I don’t want to handle it for you. I’m not interested!” Hayden refused decisively. “Dude, I’m not some gigolo. Why should I handle women for you?”
“Hayden, come on. Okay, fine. Consider this a favor I’m asking of you. That woman is the daughter of the chief deputy sheriff of Navarre. I guess she approached me because of her father’s situation. Normally, I wouldn’t bother with such trivial matters. But Channing, that brat, pulled some strings. For this matter, he made several calls and begged me like crazy. Channing is usually smart and capable. This is the first time he’s asked me for something. I have to show him some respect for this, or else it will hurt the feelings of the people below. So, please meet her for me. If it’s not a big deal, just agree to it. It’s for Channing’s sake!”
While Jacob was speaking, a woman on the other end seemed to be coquettishly whining about something. But the call was already hung up before Hayden could say anything.
So, after staring at his phone in silence for two seconds, Hayden burst out, “Damn it!”
Meanwhile, the doorbell had been ringing for a while.
Only then did Hayden lazily walk over and open the door…
Both the people inside and outside the door showed a look of astonishment and surprise.
Aurelia never expected that the person opening the door would be the lecher she encountered on the street during the day.
Hayden was also visibly surprised. The alluring woman in front of him, who looked completely different from during the day, turned out to be the darling daughter of a sheriff.
However, her current attire and spicy temperament seemed more compatible and appropriate.
Compared to her intellectual lady–like appearance during the day, she looked much more pleasing to the eye.
A mocking arc formed in the corner of his lips. Without inviting her in, he leaned against the door with his arms crossed and said, “So, it’s you! What’s your name?”
“Aurelia!”
Aurelia was also at a loss for how to respond. She could only instinctively give her name.
This was because none of the scenarios she had anticipated for their meeting had included this scene.
“How could I have expected that the lecher I randomly encountered on the street at noon would turn out to be the scion or perhaps one of the political scions I desperately wanted to meet today?” Aurelia thought.
“If you have something to say, say it here. I’m tired and want to sleep!”
After saying that, Hayden calmly stared at Aurelia. But inside, he was sneering, “Jacob, oh Jacob. There are times when you miscalculate too! It seems that I have a guaranteed victory with that Mulliner 728”
Chapter 17
A look of embarrassment and humiliation flashed across Aurelia’s face.
Hayden’s haughty expression made her feel like she was the cheapest prostitute.
