The Ex-Wife Strikes Back By Queena Laurie -
Chapter 21
Chapter 21
Hayden couldn’t help but feel curious and somewhat at ease when he heard Aurelia’s words. However, after listening to what she said, his expression grew even grimmer, displaying no emotions or reactions on the surface.
“Aurelia, you certainly have some nerve. Are you implying that I am incapable of handling your affairs, but would gladly take advantage of you and use your body for free? Who do you think you are? Even if you have some charm, do you really believe that there are no other beautiful women in this world besides you? Or perhaps you think that I, Hayden, am lacking in female companionship?”
Hayden was infuriated to the point of wanting to spit blood. He had never encountered a woman who would speak to him in such a manner.
Not only did she question his abilities, but she also showed an attitude implying that even if he couldn’t accomplish her task, he should at least take advantage of her once and refrain from bothering her again.
“Listen to what she said. What kind of nonsense was that?” he fumed inwardly.
As the esteemed Hayden, the eldest grandson of the Yeager family, he felt that he never endured such blatant disregard.
If he were to agree to her request in such a manner, it would only solidify the accusation that he was merely toying with her body and had no intention of helping her.
Not to mention Hayden, even if it were any other hedonist, they wouldn’t be able to tolerate it.
He immediately pointed sternly toward the direction of the door.
“Get out of here right now! I won’t hold it against you today for the sake of Jacob. Humph, but don’t even think that anyone will do what you want. Not me, and certainly not Jacob!”
Aurelia’s face turned pale and she panicked in response.
Hayden couldn’t help but sneer inwardly. He was prepared to see how she would beg for mercy, thinking that with just a bit of charm, she could make all men fawn over her.
“Did she not consider what kind of person I am? Just because she is the daughter of a chief deputy sheriff, did she really think she could negotiate conditions and make demands with me? Truly clueless!” Hayden said to himself.
However, once again, Aurelia’s response went against his expectations.
After listening to his harsh scolding and seeing his hostile gaze, Aurelia’s face turned even paler. She lightly bit her lower lip but said nothing. Then, she turned and walked towards the door, leaving Hayden, who was anticipating her plea and another chance to berate her, dumbfounded once more.
Now, he felt somewhat awkward.
He didn’t have the audacity to stop her anymore. After all, it was he who told her to leave. Besides, when they were at the door earlier, he had already lowered himself to call her once. If he were to call her the second time now, it would only make it seem like Hayden was trying to curry favor with her, as if he was trying to please her.
It was unbelievable for him that the woman actually just left like that.
He did not hear even a word of begging for mercy.
She seemed obedient on the surface, but he didn’t believe that she truly didn’t understand his intentions. Hayden felt that Aurelia was doing it intentionally!
Under those circumstances, there was no way he could not feel his anger rising.
Not only did his anger flare up but it was also taken to the highest level. The worse thing is that the woman just walked away, as if nothing happened, which meant that his anger was left hanging, unable to be vented. The frustration was beyond
description.
Hayden even had the urge to grab a gun and shoot her in the head!
What frustrated him even more was that he couldn’t share the humiliation with anyone.
If that brat Jacob found out that he, the esteemed Hayden, actually fell flat in the hands of a little woman like Aurelia, he would probably be laughed at until the end of the world, and the shame would be impossible to erase.
Moreover, considering Jacob’s big mouth, it wouldn’t take more than a few hours for the playboy circle to spread the gossip about Hayden’s embarrassing encounter with Aurelia.
That’s why, regardless of whether he could contain his anger or not, Aurelia must be taken down!
It was a matter of Hayden’s reputation!
After a struggle and hesitation, Aurelia’s delicate hand had already reached for the doorknob.
Just as she was about to leave without hesitation, Hayden couldn’t stay silent any longer. “Stop!”
However, Aurelia didn’t pause but forcefully turned the doorknob.
Hayden abruptly stood up, his voice stern, “Aurelia, I told you to stop. Didn’t you hear me?”
When Aurelia turned around, tears had already filled her face, seemingly appearing out of nowhere.
That caught Hayden off guard once again. He strode over decisively and forcefully slammed the door shut, which Aurelia had left slightly ajar.
With an irritated frown, he spoke harshly, “What’s the matter with you? I haven’t done anything to you. Why are you crying? If someone sees you like this, they’ll think I’ve done something terrible to you!”
Aurelia remained silent, continuing to shed tears silently, her eyes filled with sorrow.
Hayden’s frown deepened, but there was no trace of compassion, only impatience.
I’m telling you, stop crying in front of me. I can’t stand it when women cry in front of me! If you cry again, I’ll really tell you to get lost! And don’t you know that when you come to ask for someone’s help, you’re bound to be treated unfairly? If you can’t handle a little bit of unfairness, then what’s the point of talking about sacrifice?”
“It’s not that I can’t stand it. I blame myself for being stupid! I wanted to please you and make you happy, but I don’t know what I did wrong that made you even unhappier!”
Aurelia whispered through her tears, assuming a pitiful and vulnerable posture.
Hayden was speechless and even rolled his eyes in exasperation.
“You really are so foolish! Did you actually think you could please me? You wanted to please me, and yet you said all those things before about not getting too deeply involved, with your nonsensical words? Weren’t you smart when we discussed your father’s siiation? How come now, when it comes to saying these things, you suddenly can’t?”
Aurelia, seeiningly frightened by his scolding, timidly glanced at him and muttered, “I haven’t said those things to any other man. I have no experience!”
“You still expect there to be a next time? Experience? Enough! Go back and sit on the couch. I have something to tell you!”
Though Hayden’s face remained dark and displeased, his eyes revealed a fleeting hint of amusement, indicating that hus mood had somewhat improved
For some reason, when Aurelia murmured that this was her first time being involved in such circumstances and that she had no experience, all his previous unhappiness dissipated completely.
