The Ex-Wife Strikes Back By Queena Laurie -
Chapter 28
Chapter 28
How could Marcellus, who had always been calling the shots in the family, possibly tolerate it?
Without a second thought, he lashed out at Aurelia, “Aurelia, if it weren’t for your father being the chief deputy sheriff, do you think I would be willing to screw you?”
Marcellus continued, “There are countless dainty and sexy women outside waiting for my company. Don’t think too highly of yourself! Do you believe I could throw you away and immediately marry someone even more beautiful and obedient?”
His voice echoed through the small restroom space, and the atmosphere in the room instantly turned tense.
Even Marcellus himself was taken aback by his own outburst. He didn’t expect to say such a thing and regretted it immediately.
A sense of unease welled up from deep within him.
Aurelia’s originally icy and narrowed eyes grew even more menacing after his outburst.
Although she had long seen Marcellus‘ despicable nature in her previous life, it was the first time she heard him saying his real thoughts.
“Very well! It couldn’t have been any better!” Aurelia thought to herself.
Since he had already dug his own grave, there was no need for her to hesitate anymore.
“Then let’s get divorced!”
“Huh?”
Marcellus thought he had misheard. Being accustomed to concealing his emotions and perpetually scheming behind a composed facade, he was taken aback, his face displaying a rare look of astonishment.
“What did you say?”
“Let’s get divorced!”
Aurelia’s voice was cold and resolute, carrying a subtle undertone of mockery.
“Didn’t Mr. Francois have a lot of companions who could easily replace me?”
“What kind of attitude is this, Aurelia? Do you think I don’t dare?”
Marcellus was now certain that Aurelia has mentioned the word “divorce“.
He had initially believed that she was utterly devoted to him and willing to remain faithfully by his side until death. He didn’t expect a bimbo like her would one day take the initiative and propose a divorce.
Amidst his disbelief, Marcellus was furious.
He thought that his unwavering confidence was once again being challenged by Aurelia.
“Do you dare? Then let’s get divorced!” Aurelia sneered.
“Fine! You said it yourself! We’ll get divorced! Don’t you dare regret it later! Humph, I had even planned to offer you some dignity if you ever come crawling back to me after the divorce. But now…”
He did not finish his words and stormed out of the room. After a while, the sound of a forceful door slam echoed from the far end of the corridor, emanating from the direction of his study.
Aurelia felt the pain in her abdomen intensifying.
She slowly rose from the toilet seat and cleaned herself. She then put on her underwear and wore a sanitary napkin and left.
the restroom after.
She took a black shirt and trousers from her wardrobe inside the room and dressed herself while enduring the pain.
Just as she finished dressing. Marcellus returned to the room with hurried and heavy footsteps. He threw a document folder
in front of her.
“Remember that you were the one who asked for a divorce! Sign it!”
Aurelia slowly opened the document folder, revealing three neatly arranged divorce agreements with detailed terms that had been prepared long in advance. She couldn’t help but sneer in her heart even more.
“Even at this stage with all that had transpired, this shameless and hypocritical man still had the audacity to point fingers and place the burden of responsibility for the divorce squarely on me!
How could such a complete divorce agreement be taken out so quickly if it had not been prepared long ago to be used at any time?
Did he really have the audacity to say such things?”
Fine! She had neither the time nor the patience to discuss with him. She had to go to the hospital after signing the
agreements.
Aurelia didn’t say a word. She pulled out the divorce agreement and focused on the section regarding property distribution and the lump sum alimony payment after the divorce. There was a blank line intended for her to fill in the amount.
“I want 10 million dollars as alimony!” she uttered coldly.
Marcellus was actually nervous. He has already sobered up. Although the topic of divorce was brought up impulsively, he had mentally prepared himself for this moment long ago.
When he came back at noon earlier, he intended to sign the divorce agreement, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it after hearing from Aurelia.
Now, fueled by the influence of alcohol, Marcellus could finally bring the divorce with Aurelia to a close. His excitement. outweighed his anger as he realized his plan was finally within reach and need not be delayed further.
He kept his facade of anger as if he has yet to sober up, as a show to Aurelia.
Deep down, he knew that Aurelia might eventually see through his act. However, by that time, they would have signed all the agreements and had gotten divorced. He wasn’t afraid of her coming back for any retribution.
His only concern was that Aurelia might change her mind at the last moment and refuse to get a divorce.
Therefore, as soon as he heard her ask for money, his reflexive response was to agree immediately, afraid that she might backtrack. “Fine!”
He only realized afterward that Aurelia had asked for 10 million dollars and not the 2 million dollars that he had mentally prepared for. He couldn’t help but exclaim, “What? 10 million dollars?”
“What’s the matter? Are 10 million dollars too much for you, Mr. Francois? After all, I endured being your piteous wife for three years. When your dad came to propose, he even promised that I would have half of the Francois family’s assets. Now, all I’m asking for is 10 million dollars as alimony. Do you really need to act like it will make you bankrupt?”
“Aurelia, you were the one who asked for a divorce! Yet you dare to ask for 10 million dollars? What if I refuse to give it to you?”
Marcellus face darkened and he stared at her with an unpleasant expression.
Chapter 28
I strongly urge you to give in, Mr. Francois! This is such a golden opportunity where I voluntarily initiated the divorce. If you let it slip away today, don’t expect there to be another chance. Do you truly want me to remain married to you just because I can’t have the
