Chapter 48
It had to be said that Marcellus couldn’t help but feel frustrated after repeatedly facing setbacks in front of Aurelia. He was so desperate that he couldn’t hold it in any longer and had to ask this question.
“Is this important to you?” Aurelia asked.
“Yes, it’s important! I had to know where the problem was coming from!” Marcellus exclaimed determinedly.
“Unfortunately, i don’t have the intention to satisfy your curiosity” After lightly tossing out those words, Aurelia gracefully strode toward the main

“Aurelia
Marcellus lace turned livid with anger. He took two hurried steps, his tone menacing as he spoke. “Aurelia, you’ve gone too far! Do you still believe you’re the sheriff’s daughter? Wake up to reality. If it weren’t for our three years of marriage, do you truly think I couldn’t have found another woman? Don’t forget. It was you who fell in love with me at first sight and relentlessly pursued me back then, insisting on marrying me!”
Aurelia halted her steps and nodded at him. “Very well! I’m glad, Mr. Francois, that you’ve come to this realization. So why are you now persistently pursuing me? Could it be that it’s Mr. Francois’s turn to fall in love with me at first sight? It’s such a pity. For three years, I’ve held onto something worthless, foolishly treasuring it. It has now become a shameful reminder that leaves me utterly embarrassed. I’ve finally come to my senses and realized it’s time to let go. Please, Mr. Francois, don’t try to cling to me. I genuinely don’t want to continue holding onto that useless thing in the future. What do you think?”
“Aurelia!” Marcellus shouted.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Francois, but please excuse me. I’m busy and don’t have time to continue chatting with you. By the way, I believe you no longer need to ask for my account. That’s how it is, goodbye!” Aurelia replied before turning away.
“Aurelia, what about my shares in the Francois family? When do you plan to sell them to me?” Marcellus watched as his entire plan was upset. deviating from his expectations entirely. He became acutely aware that a reconciliation with Aurelia was now truly impossible. Deciding not to waste any more time, he went straight to the point.
Regardless of the circumstances, it was crucial to expedite the transfer of the five percent share in the Francois family back to his name. Otherwise, given Aurelia’s current hostile attitude toward him, delaying the process might lead to an unexpected situation.
“I will consider it once you return the money.” Aurelia briskly delivered her response, giving Marcellus the impression that if he returned the 8 million dollars, she would agree to sell him back the shares.
With this back and forth, along with the alimony losses incurred from the divorce and the expenses of repurchasing the shares of Marcellus Corporation originally gifted to Aurelia, the Francois family, or rather Marcellus himself, suffered a total loss of nearly 20 million dollars.
However, Marcellus still decided to resolve the matter quickly. He had an overwhelming sense of unease, feeling that if he didn’t repurchase the shares, something significant would inevitably go wrong in the future.
Setting aside other matters, in terms of Aurelia’s shares, even if they couldn’t be sold to others, she still retained the rights and voting power when it came to board meetings, regardless of whether she had divorced Marcellus.
Considering the scenario if Aurelia consistently voted against any major plans and investment proposals he put forward during board meetings, it could potentially have an impact not only on the stance of the majority of other minority shareholders but also cause considerable frustration and obstruction for Marcellus himself.
Therefore, Marcellus was aware that the sudden divorce from Aurelia was undoubtedly a disastrous move on his part.
However, it was too late to regret the move. Regretting now wouldn’t change anything, so Marcellus had no choice but to brace himself and minimize the subsequent influence and uncertainties caused by this decision.
“All right, tomorrow I will transfer that sum of money to your account, and then we can discuss the matter of the shares,” Marcellus promised.
With confidence and determination, Aurelia turned her back on Marcellus.
She understood Marcellus well. After three years of marriage, he might have had no clue about what was going on in her mind.
However, after being reborn, she fully grasped Marcellus‘ stubbornness and suspicious nature.
He had already realized that something seemed amiss. Given his personality, he wouldn’t put all eggs in one basket unless he had a certainty of at least seventy percent or more.
In other words, when Marcellus realized he couldn’t regain her infatuation or influence over her, he would most likely choose to cut ties as soon as possible and remove himself from any potential harm or adverse consequences.
Therefore, she had no concerns about him not returning the sum of 8 million dollars promptly.
In fact, in Aurelia’s original plan, she did not intend for him to return the money immediately. She had initially planned to let him enjoy his freedom for some time or so while she multiplied her capital in the stock market. Only then would she come back and settle the matter with him.
However, since he had become wary of the situation, she simply decided to retrieve the money first. She would consider it as him repaying the principal amount. As for the “interest“, she would settle that matter with him later.
“As Marcellus watched Aurelia’s decisive figure walking away without looking back, the pent–up anger and dissatisfaction in his mind deepened even
further.
Chapter 48
Although his sixth sense alerted him to the fact that Aurelia was no longer someone he could easily provoke or approach, for someone as confident and astute as belt, to have been deceived and manipulated by Aurelia, a mere woman, throughout the past three years, he felt a burning anger and a deep sense of shame for having lost his rightful vigilance and preparedness.
At that moment, he suddenly realized that Aurelia’s personality couldn’t have changed into such a dominant and resolute one overnight. It was highly likely that she had always been that way but had been playing dumb in front of him for the past three years.
Now that they were divorced, she was revealing her true shrewdness and assertiveness.
However, this shrewdness and assertiveness happened to be something he didn’t dare to confront directly. If he wasn’t careful, he might fall into Aureba traps.
After all, being married for such a long time, Marcellus, as a husband, reflected on how much care and obligations he had fulfilled toward his wife. When he thought about it himself, he couldn’t help but feel that Aurelia had every reason to resent him.
He clenched his fist and glanced at the inpatient building of Petunia Hospital.
A dark and sinister expression on Marcellus‘ face. After a brief moment of contemplation, he took out his phone and dialed a number. “Hello, lan? In the days to come, I want you to monitor my wife. See whom she interacts with and investigate everyone she has come into contact with. Yes, be careful not to be discovered by anyone. Money is not an issue, but there’s one condition, keep your mouth shut. If even the slightest hint of information leaks out, I don’t need to tell you where you’ll replace yourself in the coming years, do 17”
