Chapter 83
It was the first time Aurelia had spoken her thoughts so sternly and seriously to Charles since she took him in.
It was also the first time Aurelia had revealed her worries and said how she valued this thing to Charles. Her words were sincere, making him feel excited, so much so that his back straightened, and he leaned toward her in his seat.
His eyes were also brighter with a wiser quality to them. As for his mental state, he felt as if he had ascended to a higher stage because he could think more clearly, and ideas kept popping into his head.
“Am I truly a confidant of Ms. Swanson now?” Charles thought.
“Ms. Swanson, don’t worry. I assure you that all your arrangements and intentions will be meticulously and fully implemented with my clear head, a good reputation established over the years of working in this industry, and good personal character! So, you don’t need to worry. I will work hard to be your qualified financial manager.”
“Charles, that’s a weight off my mind. Then, I’ll let you address the matter of letting third parties handle the dispersed accounts as you see fit. As long as it doesn’t affect the final result, I won’t say anything about the process.”
“Ms. Swanson. I understand!”
“Anyway, Charles, we have to move faster. I hope that by the middle of this month, we will be able to complete the preparatory work and enter the buying and selling stage.”
“Ms. Swanson, don’t worry. Give me another week. I will definitely make sure one–third of the accounts will start buying a position!”
“Okay, thank you! I don’t have many people at hand now, so your burden is a little heavy. But it won’t take long for me to replace you one or two helpers to share your workload!”
“It’s no hurry. I can still manage. Ms. Swanson, just send me the funds as soon as possible! Because I need to do single distributions, it’ll take several days.”
“Well, you don’t have to worry. The money is already prepared!”
Then they communicated with each other about the remaining problems. It was not until nearly 1:00 am. that Charles returned to his room with his still exciting brain.
On the other hand, Aurelia was also a little pumped up, too. Because she knew she had to fight in the upcoming big battle, she was already excited and nervous, tossing and turning in bed until 3:00 a.m. before falling asleep.
Suddenly, her phone rang. It was not even 5:00 am. The unfamiliar ringtone at first made her fail to react in time. It was her phone that was ringing.
Aurelia didn’t wake up until it rang for more than a minute. She remembered that she had another phone, so she immediately sat up and grabbed her handbag.
Sure enough, she saw the word [Jacob] flashing on the screen of her large mobile phone.
She hesitated for a moment and wondered if she should answer the phone.
But before she could figure it out, the ringing stopped.
Aurelia was a little disappointed and breathed a sigh of relief. When she was about to put her phone back in her bag, she heard a heavy knock on the door.
At this quiet hour of 5.00 am, it was particularly loud and scary.
Aurelia was so frightened that she sucked in the breath she just let out.
Then she looked at the silent phone and knew no one else except Jacob would knock loudly on her door in the corridor at this time.
She didn’t want to open the door and actually wanted to pretend that she was sleeping soundly.
Unfortunately, if she really didn’t open the door, Jacob would get rid of her door in the very next second with his power and
wealth.
Besides, she wasn’t a weak girl who only knew how to avoid trouble passively. Since this person had come here, where could
she hide?
She felt it was better to face it straightforwardly.
Therefore, Aurelia took two seconds to prepare herself mentally. Then she immediately lifted her blanket and got off the bed barefoot.
She walked to the door and confirmed that it was Jacob through the peephole. After that, she opened the door. The first thing Aurelia saw was his dissatisfied gaze. However, neither did she feel any guilt nor avoid his sharp and discontented look. She only softly said, “Why did you come here so early? Shouldn’t you be sleeping and getting a good

rest?”
The power in Jacob’s strong gaze as if a defense to Aurelia’s possible criticism, immediately weakened after her concerned scolding.
“Hey, Aurelia, don’t think my dissatisfaction with you today will go away since you talk to me so affectionately like that!”
Aurelia didn’t care at all. How could she not see that the more Jacob said things like this, the more she was sure that he was not angry anymore?
Perhaps Jacob had spent his whole time in anger before coming here. He was angry that Aurelia asked Andrew to send him home under such circumstances!
But from Aurelia’s point of view, she didn’t think it was wrong to do so.
In fact, if she had really left with Jacob after that banquet with so many scions attending, it would be bad for both of them.
Although many people might know her relationship with Jacob, as Quinton said, some things could be openly shown, while some other people and things should be hidden.
After all, so many eyes were on her and Jacob today, staring at their every move. If she didn’t send Jacob back at night, there might not be any far–reaching consequences at this moment, but in the long run, the impact and future troubles could be
endless.
If she was determined to be Jacob’s mistress, it would be fine.
Well, Aurelia could go all out for him if that was the case. However, she did not want to do that, So, why should she make trouble for both herself and Jacob?
She also believed that Jacob must have figured it out after waking up, but his rational thought was one thing. Getting angry at her and sulking was another.
Now, wasn’t he here because he could not accept that fact and rushed here regardless of the time?
Aurelia looked at his slightly sulking face and messy hair with a smile. “Why? Mr. Miller, are you planning to stand in the corridor outside my room and scold me?”
“You damn woman, why are you not taking me seriously! You don’t care about me!” Jacob suddenly said these words with at fierce expression. As he spat out those words with gritted teeth, he had already rushed to Aurelia at the same time.
With one continuous motion, he lifted Aurelia, who was in a nightgown, kicked the door closed with his heel, and walked toward the bed.
