The Failed Rejection -
Chapter 46
Dash pov
Dash was shown to his room after the meeting adjourned, Braxton escaped with his new mate Penelope. Dash was happy that his brother was getting a little happiness after what happened to his mate and cub. However, he couldn’t help the twinge of jealousy that came every now and then. Dash was well in his twenties but there had been no sign of his mate.
Dash was settling in his room on the beta floor when there was a knock on the door. He answered it to replace the young werewolf boy from the last trip that intrigued him.
“There you are! I’ve been looking everywhere for you!” The young wolf pup told him and latched onto his hand. Dash was curious about his tether to this young pup.
“Your the alpha’s son right?” Dash asked which caused him to frown.
“My name is Callum, my mommy’s name is Liliana.” The little wolf is a momma’s boy Dash thought with a smile. Dash was too.
“Mommy! Mommy! This is him this is him!” Callum screamed running into a room. Dash was forewarned that since the last rogue attack the Luna became very private so Dash kept his distance. While he was waiting alpha Killian walked up,
“Don’t take this the wrong way, but what are you doing up here. You aren’t supposed to be up here.” The alpha was respectful and Dash didn’t take any disrespect toward his comment.
“No offense taken, your son came down to my room and brought me up here. Callum walked into what I’m assuming is your bedroom,” Dash told him and the alpha’s eyes widened.
“Um… that’s really odd… let me go talk to them and I’ll be right back. Just make yourself comfortable,” Killian told him and walked into the bedroom. Dash went to the living room and sat down to watch some tv, he had a feeling it would be awhile. Finally the four of them came out; Liliana being carried by Nathan apparently he was in the room, Killian, and Callum.
“Hello, Dash isn’t it?” Liliana asked him and he nodded.
“Yes Luna Liliana,” he responded and she waved him off just Lili.
“Just Lili, sorry for the theatrics down there but with everything going on we have been more private toward my son,” Lili said somewhat cryptically.
“So when you first met Callum, we’re you drawn to him in any way?” Killian asked him and he nodded.
“Yes I was, I told my brother on the flight when we left. He said we were going to figure it out, but he’s distracted,” Dash trailed off with an awkward smile. Lili laughed,
“While I do wish he was here so we could have this conversation with everyone. It seems my little alpha couldn’t wait to tell you,” Lili said giving her son a look.
“Tell me what?” He asked confused.
“Your my protector!!!” Callum screamed but his mother quickly hushed him.
“Sorry to do this to you, but I have to alpha command you not to tell anyone not to reveal what we tell you to anyone. There are only a handful of people in this pack who know,” Killian stated and Dash felt the command wash over him.
“Your brother will know as he is Penelope’s mate and will be Callum’s uncle,” Liliana told Dash.
“Know what?” Dash asked confused.
“Callum is the future Werewolf King,” Nathan said piping in and completely blowing his mind. While his brothers may not know the significance of the next werewolf king Dash did. It was only a prophecy, but the prophecy foretold that there would be an alpha wolf who would unite all of the shifter world and bring about peace for the next several hundred years. There would be no more rogues or hunters.
“His protector? What does that mean?” Dash asked.
Well since you didn’t ask about the werewolf king I’m you know about the prophecy?” Lili asked and Dash nodded. “Well from what I’ve been able to replace out Callum will be blessed with protectors as he grows. To be there when we can’t,” Lili continued. Dash sat there for a few minutes absorbing everything. Callum jumped on-top of him and Dash smiled. Dash felt his aura seeping out of this young boy. He looked between father and son realizing something. Killian nodded,
“We aren’t sure if it’s him or his wolf that’s lending it to me.”
“I like this one, he’s definitely smarter than his brothers,” Nathan said and Dash smiled.
“I don’t know,” Liliana said clearly thinking. “I think Axel was preoccupied.”
“With what momma?” Callum asked and Lili smiled.
“Nothing baby, why don’t you go play with Josey, she’s in your room” Lili told Callum. Dash watched Callum jump up and ran off. He had to fight his instinct to follow the boy, he was safe on the alpha floor.
“So do you need to return to your pack to discuss things with your father?” Killian asked. Dash shook his head negatively,
“No, I’ll tell my brothers I won’t be returning. I’m not sure what Braxton will be doing.” Lili smiled,
“What do you think of your room? I have to check with Seth to see if you can stay permanently. I’d offer you a room on our floor, but with the babies,” Lili explained bur Dash waved her off.
“It’s no problem, I understand my room is more than satisfactory.” Dash was being honest, he liked his room and as long as the beta allowed it he could make changes to it.
“Well we will meet again in a couple of days when things settle down to go over everything,” Killian told him. Dash nodded and knew when he was being kicked out. Dash walked back to his room still in a state of shock at what the moon Goddess had chosen him for.
.
Axel pov
Axel was returning to his pack on the interstate when he got word from his beta that there had been a rogue attack and some prisoners had escaped. Axel knew the situation he was walking into wouldn’t be good as Health wouldn’t tell him who had escaped. Heath had met him at the borders, most likely Heath wanted to be the one to tell him before anyone else.
“It was her wasn’t it?” Axel asked his beta. Heath nodded, Axel shifted into his giant Kodiak bear and took off running into the Forrest. Axel ran to calm his mind and became lost in the memories.
Ashley his first mate had been kept prisoner since he had returned from being taken by rogues. Ashley had lured him out to the Forrest with the promise of a picnic. Axel bought it hook, line, and sinker as she wasn’t the most loving mate. The date was amazing; they ate, talked, laughed, and had s*x. When they were cuddling she managed to inject him with a lethal dose of silver. While Axel was trying not to die rogue wolf’s circled him, one in human for the others in wolf form. The human gave Ashley money and then they attacked. The next thing he knew Axel woke up being dragged to a cell.
When Axel came back to reclaim his pack and the dust settled he didn’t know what to do with her. Pack laws state that he should have killer her and that’s what the pack demanded. Axel just couldn’t do that to Ashley, his b***h of a mate.
The bond has been severed, and it’s been several years since she has been in the cells. Until today. Ashley that b***h has managed to escape.
“We don’t know how, but she managed to get word out that you were away. They used the chance to break three other prisoners out as well,” Heath stated. That was weird, the dungeon was almost full of prisoners.
“Were the prisoners on the same row?” Axel asked and Heath shook his head negative.
“No they were carefully chosen, we have no idea how or why.”
“How did they break in?” Axel asked.
“Magic,” Heath told him and Axel knew what Heath was going to suggest next.
“Maybe you should-“
“I’m not going to call her!” Axel said firmly.
“Well if you want my advice.” Heath started to say but Axel cut him off.
“You are the last person I want mate advice from,” Axel said in a huff.
“That’s not fair! You know how my dad will react,” Heath tried to defend himself.
“It’s an excuse! Your a coward! You’ve always been a coward, too afraid to stand up to your old man.” Axel screamed at him letting out some frustrations.
“Your one to talk, too afraid your second chance mate is like your last w***e of a mate. Everyone knew Ashley was the pack bicycle, but you just had to mate her thinking she would change for you. Hell she wouldn’t change if her a*s was on fire and you had the water!” Axel growled at his cousin,
“You know what I’m going to get drunk you do whatever you want.”
.
That’s how Axel found himself waking up in bed the next morning with one of Ashley’s friends or former friends. Axel quickly kicked her out and told her never to talk about this again. Axel quickly showered and went down to his office to get the update on the dungeon escape. When he walked into the room his anger went through the roof. In his office stood his beta and his mate. Svetlana gave him a bright smile, but then it seemed to dim as if she knew what he did. How? Witches didn’t feel betrayal pains did they? The issue wasn’t his concern, what his concern was why she was here.
“What’s going on Heath?” Axel asked his beta.
“You told me to call her if I wanted, so I did,” Heath told him with no remorse.
“So did you replace anything out?” Axel asked the room, still not looking at her.
“Not much, there was traces of magic. I was able to replace the signature but I didn’t recognize it. I’ll have to take it back to my coven and see if my leader does.” That got Axel’s attention, her coven leader was her former lover. Axel’s bear was pissed at the thought of them being in the same room together. The hypocrisy didn’t escape him. Axel didn’t say anything though and simply watched Svetlana disappear in a poof of purple smoke.
“You really are an a*****e,” his cousin said as he stomped out of his office. Axel didn’t comment, he just went to work.
