The Failed Rejection -
Chapter 64
Brad pov
The drive to the council headquarters was long and torturous. He missed his mate and dealing with the annoying territorial alphas at every pit stop was giving him a migraine. He never had a migraine before and never wanted one again. Thankfully his car only had to stop when the car was nearing empty so they were ahead of the others.
It were getting close so Brad decided to take the wheel and drive to a dive motel that all the council soldiers went to on the weekends. The motel was rife with escorts and call-girls as bringing women back to your room was strictly a one way ticket to being kicked out of the council’s guard. The place has become lawless, rife with s*x, drugs, all that was needed was rock n roll. Which technically was there as a shifter sold bootleg music, fake watches, and drugs out of the trunk of his car.
The motel was around a mile from the council’s headquarters and off of their radar, well as far as Brad knew. The council more than likely knew about the motel but let their warriors have their fun due to regulations.
Brad still needed a place to set up and scout patrols, the motel was their best shot. There was no other location that fit the criteria, it was a risk he had to take.
“Where are we going?” Killian asked.
“You will see,” he responded with a sigh. “Just make sure everyone follows us.” Killian nodded and pulled out his phone.
They got to the motel before everyone and Killian looked disgusted as he saw the woman hanging out of their rooms dressed provocatively and questionable men sitting on the hood of their car. Brad could tell they wanted to approach the new meat hoping for a quick sell, but Killian’s aura kept them away.
“What is this place?” Seth asked looking around and Brad let out a sigh.
“The warriors call it ‘Lost Paradise,’ the most important part is that it’s close to the council headquarters, let’s get a few rooms.” Brad stated as he started to walk toward the check in office. “You stay here Killian, your aura is unmistakable and I don’t know about this guy’s loyalty.” Killian nodded and Seth’s eyes stayed to the woman beckoning them with their bodies.
“I wouldn’t if I were you Seth,” he warned.
“Why’s that? I don’t mind a woman that’s been around the block,” Seth stated with a smile.
“There are several here that not only hate the council, but are both fox’s as well as siren’s.” They both looked at him shocked, “They have the ability to mimic scents and many of my men fell victim to believing they were their mates and gave them everything they owned. I tried to stop both my warriors and the woman, but was met with nothing but resistance even from the council. So I suggest you stay away Seth, I’ll be back.” Brad left to go grab some rooms, when he entered it was every cliche one could think of. The man running the desk had a dirty wifebeater on, with a potbelly, he was balding, and was just overall dirty. The only thing that gave him the vibe of not to be messed with was the fact that he gave off the scent of a werebear.
“Per night or by the hour?” He asked in a no nonsense tone.
“I need five rooms for the night,” Brad replied. If the request was odd the werebear didn’t show it.
“Five hundred, four-fifty if you are paying cash.” Brad pulled out his wallet and shelled out the cash. The bear inspected the cash and then nodded before handing him old-school keys.
“Check out time is eleven.”
“Thanks,” Brad nodded and turned to walk away.
“Hey wolfie?” The bear called out and Brad turned around,
“Yeah?”
“Be careful, some new ladies just checked in, both foxes and sirens.” The clerk informed him and Brad nodded.
“Thanks man.” Brad walked out of the hotel and saw the dozens of SUV’s had pulled up.
The room situation was a nightmare and there were two more rooms needed. Brad refused to deal with it as there were more pressing concerns. Brad decided to leave his alpha and his father to sort the situation out by himself. He took his small elite unit to scout the parameter of the council’s headquarters.
“Okay men, let’s do it in human forms first, stay on comms as we don’t know what we are walking into to, any questions,” Brad asked as he finished strapping down his guns.
“How far in are we going?” Ethan asked for clarification.
“Our patrols are normally at five hundred and a thousand feet intervals that are being patrolled constantly. The surveillance can see up to two thousand, so let’s start at three thousand and slowly work our way in.” Brad decided and the men nodded.
“Are you sure we should be doing this sir?” Tim asked him hesitantly and Brad sighed.
“Tim, the werewolf council is experimenting on both human and supernatural women and children. They are doing this to create an army. They are abusing the power that was bestowed upon them. The elders need to face justice, and they will one way or another,” Brad stated firmly which said they stood with the alpha’s or the council and standing with the council would mean death. The men nodded looking back and forth between each other, it was a tough spot to be in, but they were in it. The men finished gearing up, the last thing to do was to get on comms.
“Dad you there?” He asked when he put the device in his ear.
“Yeah I got you son.” His dads voice came in ear nice and clear.
“All right, move out!” Brad called out and headed north toward the headquarters. “Stay tight in formation until my signal.” Brad led the men out at a nice brisk pace they used for their morning run. They ran for a half a mile when Brad gave the signal for the men bringing up the rear to veer off and head toward the perimeter. The rest continued on for a few hundred feet and Brad gave the signal again for the men to branch off. Then the last of the men followed him and he gave the command to slow in several hundred feet. In short, he made a arm-circle around the perimeter and was slowly inching their way to the council headquarters to get an eye view of what was going on.
Brad and the few others with him took defensive positions and slowly made their way forward.
“Delta leader,” Ethan called on the comms called out.
“Go ahead Delta team 1,” Brad responded.
“We have a problem.”
“What is it?”
“I caught a scent,” Ethan replied.
“How far out are you?” Brad asked surprised.
“Twenty-five hundred if I had to say,” came the response and Brad was even more surprised.
“Old or fresh?” Brad asked if the scent was old or new.
“Just a couple of hours.”
“Hold your position, retreat if you feel anything moving about,”Brad responded continuing on. Brad moved further with more caution after hearing the report that the council was patrolling that far out.
“Delta leader,” called Tim on the comms not a minute later.
“Same scent?” Brad asked Tim.
“Affirmative, Delta leader,” responded Tim.
“Same instructions Delta team two,” Brad responded.
“What does that mean?” His father came through the comms. Brad didn’t respond as he finally scented what everyone else was smelling. It wasn’t patrol, but he was unable to follow it at this time.
“Continuing on,” Brad and the four men with his slowly continued on through to the break in the forest. This is where it was going to get tricky, when the forest breaks leaves him vulnerable to be spotted by the cameras. Brad scouted the area and saw the camera.
“Let’s just break it,” one genius came up with. Brad ignored him as he looked for a blind spot.
“No, then they will just know we were here.” There! The boulder, Brad turned to his men,
“Stay here.” He then went back into the forest and continued further until he lined up with the boulder and hopefully be in a blind spot of the camera.
“Can you lend me some speed?” Brad asked his wolf.
“Always,” he responded.
“Men, stay silent on the comms, if you hear or smell anything run back to the motel understand?” He asked.
“Yes sir,” Dustin and Tim responded in unison. His wolf came forward and then he immediately started sprinting toward the rock praying he wouldn’t be seen. Brad was able to quickly reach the boulder and situate himself behind it and from there he had a decent view of the headquarters.
“This is very bad,” his wolf told him and Brad agreed. The council had not doubled patrols, but tripled them. They were all toting semiautomatic guns that were filled with silver bullets. The bullets probably had a hollow center filled with wolfsbane or aconite. The council recently started pressing the men to use them, Brad was one of the few to refuse.
Brad quickly took pictures of the new lay out and hauled a*s out of there.
“Meet me at the check point,” he said on comms. When he reached the forest the men he came with fell into step behind him. Brad didn’t break his stride until he reached the area where the unit first broke off. Brad finally stopped and was panting a little as he was still high on the adrenaline.
“How bad is it?” Dustin asked.
“Bad, they know we are coming.”
…
Braxton pov
Pain ripped through his insides as something was injected into his body via syringe. Brax let out a guttural g***n and fought the urge to punch the smirking jerk in his face. Sadly it couldn’t be done regardless as his hands were cuffed with silver.
‘When did that happen?’ Brax wondered to himself. As it turns out there was a replacement Dewy and this guy was worse. He got off on inflicting pain. The good news is that Alana was mainly left alone, she was just starved and dehydrated like everyone else down here. These dungeons were filled with peoples screams, at all hours of the day and night.
Alana also felt all the pain Denali felt, which is why he tried to keep the attention on himself. He was an alpha who healed faster, Brax prayed to the moon Goddess that Penelope didn’t feel anything. He would hate it if his mate felt everything he was feeling.
Braxton had no idea of how long he had been in the cell being tortured. While it felt like it was days, there was no way he could tell as he had lost consciousness several times. His b***d had definitely been taken as he had been taunted about it.
“Don’t you like it?” The man smirked in his face. Brax didn’t know what the man was talking about as his brain had become a muddled mess of thoughts. Brax’s mouth tried to form words, but nothing was working. He was sitting down but he couldn’t move his legs. Braxton thought he was sitting, he looked around at the cell. He started to feel like he was floating, but he was definitely sitting in this creaky wooden chair.
“See it’s a new d**g, I gave it to both of your friends as well. It is a fun blend of new medicines that has been years in the making. It took so many years to get it right, at first it would just kill the test subject. The d**g is a mix of silver, sodium pentathol, iron, opium , some wolfsbane for the the wolf’s,” the funny looking man got in his face and Brad couldn’t help but laugh.
“I see the opium is kicking in, see it silences as well as weakens all supernatural creatures, including vampires. Suppresses their animal counterpart. The voice in their head that guides and grounds them, then the sodium pentathol will tell me everything I want to know.” Braxton knew he should be worried, but he couldn’t stop laughing and the man smiled along with him. “So Alpha Braxton… what secrets do you have?”
