Killian pov

Trials started a week after the surrender and honestly it has been nothing but a clusterfuck. Brad escorted the warriors to the dungeons only to replace it filled almost to the brim with prisoners. Killian had been fetched and the sight of those conditions of those dungeons will stick with him until the day he dies. All eyes were on him as he had unknowingly let his alpha aura out. The prisoners were terrified and he quickly had to scale it back.

He made a quick announcement that the council is no more and there will be movement needed to fit the prisoners of war. There were some weak cheers of the men, woman, and children that were down in those cells. Killian had food and water brought In immediately. He also informed them that he would will be reopening their cases, but to bear with him as the top priority was the council and its elite soldiers. When the announcement was made there was a huge shift in the air, the fear lessened and Killian could smell the slightest bit of hope. He thought about moving the children, in fact had Brad make an announcement that anyone who wanted to have their child move to a room in the council house they would be provided. This went over as well as expected, no prisoner took them up on the offer.

Killian had to return home to his pack for a several days as Lili had to fly out to see Penelope. That left Elder Brooks and Brad in in charge of the fact replaceing mission until he returned. Killian was happy to return to his pack for a few days to see his children. He got to spend time with the new pups Finley and Hudson who was finally out of the isolation. He also spent a lot of time with the older kids Callum and Jocelyn. It was only three days he got to spend with his family before he and Nathan had to fly back to finish dealing with the corrupt council. Lili wouldn’t join them until the actual trial.

Killian came back to council headquarters and was greeted with mountains of files provided to him by Brad and the other Betas who had went through the files. He sat with Elder Brooks and other Alphas who read everything and was absolutely horrified by everything he had read.

False imprisonment. Embezzlement. Intimidation. Working with rogues. Experimenting on all supernatural creatures.

“This is some sick stuff,” Nathan stated, looking over a file. “I can’t believe they were able to do it for this long, look this was dated back in 2003, that was twenty years ago!” Kane was outraged.

“I knew they were bad news,” Axel muttered flipping through a file.

“Hey, not that I’m complaining, but how did you make it here in time? I thought you were in Ohio with Penelope?” Killian asked and Axel looks away ashamed.

“You went on a bender didn’t you?” Nathan asked frustrated. Killian was getting frustrated with his friend, but he always came through when his pack needed him. Killian couldn’t condemn him as he made his own mistakes regarding his mate and so did Nathan.

“Look man let me give you some advice you need to come to terms with the fact that Svetlana is your mate whether you like it or not. The moon goddess put you together for a reason.” Killian advised.

“I know, I just don’t think I can get over what my first mate did.” Killian looked to Nathan who nodded.

“Yeah neither could I and she came back into my life and almost ruined my bond with Lili.” Axel look intrigued but didn’t comment on Nathan’s comment. “Look man just don’t do anything you will regret.”

“Too late,” Elder Brooks commented to everyone’s surprise but didn’t elaborate.

The trial

Killian looked around him and thought there was a twisted sense of justice sitting at the long table filled with alphas along with Elder Brooks who resided over the entire trial. This was normally where the Elders sat during trials. Everyone was surprised to see Lili show up as the pups weren’t even a month old yet. This was unfortunately the life the moon goddess chose for them and it was one they had to walk together.

The Elders were led out in silver handcuffs by Dustin and placed into silver bindings as they sat down. The room was similarly set up to a human court room, except there was no place for a jury. Instead of one judge there was a long table for the elders to sit to pass judgement and today the alphas occupied those seats. The faces of the Elders when they saw who sat in their seats was priceless.

“This is preposterous!” One of the Elders shouted.

“Silence!” He yelled letting out his aura silence the Elder who spoke. “Elder Brooks please begin the proceedings.” Elder Brooks nodded and she began to speak letting her aura out for everyone to feel it.

“Elder Thomas, Elder Grey, Elder Sawyer, Elder Stockburn, Elder Black, and Elder Smith you have been accused of embezzlement, false imprisonment, working with rogues, and worst of all crimes. Human experimentation!” There were gasps all throughout the packed hall.

“Lies!” Elder Black screamed.

“Silence! No more outburst or I will skip the trial and go straight to your beheading!” Killian roared.

“You can’t do that!” Elder Stockburn cried out. Killian stood up his wolf Kai in his eyes.

“Make no mistake we are in full control. This trial is being recorded and sent out to all packs as well as every rogue camp we can think of. It is just to air out your dirty little secrets. Don’t for one second think you are making out of this alive.” His wolf was in a rage.

“But-“

“The way your prisoners were treated will haunt me for the rest of my life, so sit down and shut your mouth.” Killian growled out and the few Elders who thought they could defy him finally submitted. Killian sat down and Lili reached out to him and his wolf immediately calmed down.

“Alpha Kane read the comprehensive report you put together,” Elder Brooks stated handing over the reigns to him and alpha Kane stood up,

“Thank you Elder Brooks. Through files we have found in each Elders office as well as their computers we have found proof that…” Killian won’t lie he stopped listening to Alpha Kane as he heard all of the information before. He mainly focused on the touch from his mate and watching everyone else in the room. His wolf was on high alert, especially with Lili still so vulnerable after the birth.

“Thank you Alpha Kane I believe there was a statement from my elite soldiers that wanted to make.” Elder Brooks stated and Brad stood taking the stage.

“Yes, when I was young and believed in the werewolf council, I truly believed that the council was doing,” Brad stated.

“Until when?” Elder Brooks asked.

“Until I was sent to Alaska and check on the authenticity of an Alpha challenge,” Brad stated wearily.

“What did you discover?” Elder Brooks asked him.

“The Alpha Thorn that is still the Alpha today during the challenged had a friend kill Alpha Lobos’ mate which weakened him considerably. When I was there I knew Lobos’ daughters were being abused by the new alpha but I couldn’t prove it. So I went with what I could prove, but the council did nothing about it.” Brad stated and the court gasped hearing the crimes for the first time.

“Did you replace the reason the council never intervened?” Brooks asked.

“I eventually found out that Alpha Thorn promised Elder Stockburn double fees if he looked the other way after the challenge.”

“What happened to the alpha’s daughters?” Elder Brooks asked curious.

“It took me a month before I was able to get back to Alaska and I had to lie my way back there. When I got back there, the girls were gone,” Brad let out a sigh as it was clear this weighed on him heavily. “I always kept my ear to the ground looking out for them, but it’s been almost seven years since that happened and no one has heard from them, I’m afraid they are dead.”

“Thank you Brad you may step down now,” Elder Brooks stated and Brad stepped to his seat in the audience.

“Now we have another witness, please open the door and let her in,” Killian stated and in walked a middle aged woman.

“Please Janice, tell us your story,” Elder Brooks stated. The woman took in a a long shaky breathe.

“Ten years ago my pack was continuously attacked by rogues and so our Alpha called the council for help. The elite warriors showed up along with Elder Grey. Our Alpha begged for his help and the Elder only agreed in exchange for three women.” Janice took a deep breathe and wiped away a tear, “I was one of the women and spent the next five years in hell being passed back and forth between those monsters, when I wasn’t with them I was made to work every day. I still work in the kitchen, but after five years they declared me ‘too old’ to satisfy their needs any longer. I cried in relief for days and haven’t been touched by a man since.”

“Thank you, that will be all Janice.” Elder Brooks dismissed her and Janice stepped out and walked off the floor with tears running down her eyes. Killian had to grip his hands on his chair as anger gripped him. Now for the last statement Alpha Killian,” Elder Brooks gave him the floor and he walked to the open floor.

“Now into the worst offense, human experimentation as well as experiments on other supernatural creatures. Several months ago my sister whom was and still is attending medical school was exposed as a werewolf by a human. She had done nothing, this human was just around other werewolves and knew how to look out for the signs we as werewolves do instinctively. We did as protocol dictated and contacted the council through Brad. Brad was unable to take care of it and another elite warrior was sent, Leroy. While we believed that to be the end of it until months later we found this same man turned up when my pack was investigating a trafficking auction and had been completely turned into a wolf.” Killian paused as people gasped, “we tracked it back to a lab down in Arkansas and even found Elder Thomas there, who managed to get away from us as we were too preoccupied getting the women and children out. One of those children were Alpha Kane’s son.” This caused another gasp to be let out among the people there. “These facts were all backed up in files we found in your offices, they can not be refuted. My pack is also filled to the brim with traumatized women and children who went through the ordeal.” Killian glared at the Elders and then sat down. When he was settled Elder Brooks spoke again,

“So do you have anything to say for yourselves?” Elder Stockburn, who was the oldest of the elders, stood up,

“I knew we should have killed you along with your father!” He screamed out shocking everyone in the room. Elder Brooks stood up with a lethal smile and letting out her aura,

“Yes you should have! I have been planning this day since you killed him. I am the granddaughter of King Octavius Tatius Drusis and you truly thought you deserved power that rightly belonged to some one else? It was never yours and your power is paltry compared to mine, let alone my fathers!” Her proclamation and aura shocked everyone. That would mean she was over two hundred years old if she was the granddaughter of the last werewolf king.

“No it wasn’t ours, so we took it and we will keep it from that brat!” Elder Sawyer broke out. A ferocious snarl burst out from next to him.

“My son is not a brat!” Lili stood up every bit the overprotective she-wolf when her pup is being threatened. “You know exactly who he is and you know the power he holds and you were threatened.” Lili ground out.

“I’ve heard enough, time to pass judgement,” Killian stated as he didn’t want anyone to get back on the topic of his son.

“Alpha’s those that feel death is an appropriate sentence, say aye.”

“Aye!” Rang out throughout the room.

“Those oppose say nay,” Elder Brooks stated and the room was deathly silent. Elder Brooks came down from her chair with a silent grace. She looked down upon her opponents. “I sentence Elder Thomas, Elder Grey, Elder Sawyer, Elder Stockburn, Elder Black, and Elder Smith to death by hanging at dawn.” Cheers erupted in the courtyard and the Elders were dragged back to the dungeons.

“It’s over,” Lili said and Killian shook his head later that evening after everyone had left.

“No it’s not, we have the elite soldiers, the prisoners in the dungeons. It will be another month before this mess is all sorted through.” Killian responded dreading being away from his mate Lili sighed,

“We have the babies, I need you home Killian.” Killian let out a sigh,

“Lili-“

“Killian,” Brad interrupted.

“Go home for a week and then come back, we will call you if anything pressing happens.”

“Brad, what about you? You just found your mate too?” Lili asked worried about her brother. Brad let out a deep sigh,

“I made a lot of mistakes working for the council, I have to fix this,” Brad said determinedly. Killian slapped him on the shoulder.

“Let’s get this finished so we can move on with our lives.”
