The Fall Ball
Chapter 72

(Rose)

Raymond and I jump through the portal. And in no time at all we are jumping out the other side. Before I can process where we are, I hear a howl. And wolves start to circle us.

“Oh, no.” I say out loud.

“What?” Raymond asks me.

“These are not place wolves, but they are not rogue wolves either.” I say to him.

“So they belong to a pack?” Raymond asks me.

“Yes, I am just not sure which one.” I say to him.

Before we talk much more, I hear a voice talking.

“Hello, Rose. I am so glad we found you.” I hear alpha Jake say to me.

“Alpha Jake! I am so glad to see you. It seems like forever since I have seen you.” I say to him, running over and giving him a hug.

“You have been busy, becoming the next queen.” He says with a smile, hugging me back.

“Walk me to the palace?” I say to him.

“Actually no, we are leaving and heading back to our packlands. I have work to do as alpha, and some of the pack members do not feel safe with the presence of vampires and knowing that a war is coming.” He says to me.

“Oh, okay.” I say to him, feeling a little sad.

“I am just a phone call away. Or I am sure, with your gifts, you could even link me if you wanted to.” He says to me.

“Okay, well, safe travels. And keep yourself safe. And let us know if you need any help with anything.” I say to him.

He nods and walks away with the rest of the pack. I smile as I watch them walk away, knowing that I have a new life here and will be well taken care of.

“Well, let’s get back to the palace.” Raymond says while grabbing my hand.

“So you knew the whole time that I was going to be kidnapped.” I say to him.

“Yeah, he could of at least warned us,” Lilly says to me.

“Yeah, he could of let us know or talk to us. I would have talked to Ash and we could have worked something out so that I could talk to Allaric without being taken.” I say to her.

“Well, I had to be sure that you knew it was real. And that you didn’t loose your trust in me, I need to be able to be here and help you to train.” He says to me.

“You should have talked to me though. I would have worked something out with Ash and his dad to make it so I could willingly go and meet with your king.” I say to him.

“This way just put a lot of fear into me, and caused Ash to worry about me when he didn’t need to.” I say to him.

“Maybe yes, maybe no. I had to be sure that you would speak to my king. Also, I have given no information to your family on why my king wanted to speak to you. I wanted you to talk to them first so that they knew that what you have to say is the truth. They would not have believed me, I had to be sure that everyone knew you where in no harm first.” He says to me.

“This way you can speak to them about what you have been told. As well as them seeing that you are not hurt and that we mean no harm to you. We just need your help.” He continued to say to me.

“Okay, I will talk to them, but I have not decided if I will partner up with you all or not. If Sol dies, what does that mean for all of you vampires? What happens to you all once you are no longer being controlled by her?” I ask him.

“Well, that is something that we do not know for sure. We want to believe that we can live peacefully with the wolves and humans, and be able to live our lives the way that we want. But since we are created with Sol’s powers and energy, we may die when she does.” Raymond says to me.

“So if she dies, you are all okay with dying?” I ask him.

“We have all lived for a very long time. We don’t die easily, and we can not create any young. We just live on forever and ever.” He says to me.

“That is kind of sad,” I say to him.

We get to the steps and walk up to the door. Raymond stops me before I can get to the door though.

“Rose, I have lived for thousands of years. I have fallen in love, I have watched that love of mine dye. I have watched friends and family grow old and grow their families. I have watched my friends grandchildren grow old,” he says to me.

I look at him.

“And Rose, I am okay with this being the end. I have lived a very long happy life. I have served my purpose of protecting the stone. I have also lived to train you. If it is my time, it is my time and I am at peace with that,” he says with a small smile.

“Well, I hope that you can all continue to live the life that you all want. I hope that when she dies you all gain control of your lives like you all want.” I say to him.

“Me too,” he says with a small smile.

“I believe that they will live on, but that their lives will be different,” Lilly says to me.

“I hope so.” I say to her.

I open the door. And I am grabbed by Ash. He smothers me in k****s. I see my parents over his shoulder crying.

“Rose, I am so sorry that I put you in danger. I promise to never do that again,” Ash says to me.

“I was never in any danger. The vampires need my help and I think I may need theirs as well.” I say to him.

“Everyone to my office now.” The king bellows out to us all from the top of the stairs.
