CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR:

FISH

-Laina-

Another day in someone elses paradise; the sun was shining, and the birds were singing. A man whom I had grown to love read to me from an old book, my legs thrown over his in comfort. Beside us was a pond, with green tinted but clean water that had a healthy supply of fish for us to eat. There was only one thing truly missing: Arya. My best friend of over fourteen years, my closest confidant and biggest ally. She was dead, lost to the creatures of the island. Now it was just Darnell and I, camped out here at this pond and wondering what to do next. I put the thoughts of my friend out of my mind lest I start crying again. I still couldn’t stomach the idea of her death. She had left almost two months ago with another member of our group, Val; neither of them had returned. At first, we had tried to look for them, but after weeks of searching we hadn’t found even a hair of them. I sighed, causing Darnell to look up at me over the book. Darnell didn’t speak much, but he didn’t need to, I understood his body language. His dark chocolate eyes looked at me questioningly. “I am sorry, Dar. I was just missing Arrie.” He nodded in understanding before pulling me to my feet and leading me to the waters edge. “Come, let us swim.” His deep voice soothed me, and I let him lead me slowly into the cool waters. He pulled me into him, his large hand spread behind my back seductively. I smiled knowingly; he was becoming predictable in his need these days. Luckily, I had a birth control implant when I turned seventeen, so pregnancy wasn’t something I needed to be concerned about. Thank the gods, as that would be a disaster in this place. With another sigh I leaned into him while he traced my neck and then my jawline tenderly with his fingers. He leaned in and kissed me softly at first, and then with more urgency. His tongue invaded my mouth with urgency, dancing with my own.

Closing my eyes and leaning back my head, I moaned softly, my body fitting to his like a key in a lock. Stripping the pitiful excuse for a shirt off my body he leaned in, trailing kisses down my neck. As he led me deeper into the water, I wrapped my legs around his waist and my arms around his neck, letting him take the lead while he kissed me. I reveled in his touch; my body ready for him almost instantly. With a knowing smirk of his own, he reached down and touched my wet core, slipping in a finger with ease. A second finger joined the first before he eased them out, bringing them to my clit and making me gasp in pleasure. The sensations released hot waves through my body as his hands continued to give me shivers of pleasure. His fingers penetrated me again, going in and out, faster and faster. My moans echoed around us, the forest listening to our lustful joining.

When he finally removed his fingers, my pussy was soaked and throbbing with need. Darnell pushed inside me, pausing for a breath to allow my body to adjust to his girth. He was so thick and so hard, seeming to fill me to the brim. He started moving, thrusting at a steady pace while the water rippled in small waves around us. I submitted completely to his rhythm, letting our need sweep away the pain about my friend, even if it was only temporary. The slow pace was killing me, the heat coursing through my body demanded more. Grabbing my waist more firmly, my legs still wrapped around him, he began to thrust with more urgency. I could feel my orgasm building and my thighs began to shake around him. His mouth swallowed the scream from my orgasm as I came, my walls clenching around his length, bringing him over the edge with me.

I lay a boneless mess in his arms as he pulled out of me, leaving me feeling empty and alone once more. Carrying me gently, he walked us back to the ponds edge where we lay to catch our breath. A gentle “pop” sounded by my ear, followed by what sounded like the happy noises that a baby makes. Opening my eyes and glancing to my right I saw a tiny tree smiling widely at me and waving its little wooden arms. I screamed, scaring both Darnell and the tree creature. Flailing, I rolled to the other side of Darnell, before bringing a giant sphere of water above our heads. The tiny tree squealed in delight at my water ball, clapping its little hands like I had done something wondrous. I stood naked as the day I was born, with water over my head, above a just as naked man who was still laying on the ground. The three of us all looked back and forth at each other, assessing the situation, before I sent the water back to the pond and calmed down. Looking at the little creature, he was quite adorable, assuming it was a he. He was maybe five or six inches high, with two arms that ended with three long fingers on each hand. His legs were a multitude of roots, all moving together, sort of like an octopus. Leaves sprouted from his head, looking wild and unkept, albeit slightly comical. The little thing resumed his excited jumping, making those baby coo noises and gesturing us to follow him. The fact that Dar and I were completely naked didn’t seem to register at all, so I lost the embarrassment I had been harboring at being caught in my birthday suit. Darnell crouched in front of the creature “What do ya want, tiny ’ting?” The creature continued to beckon to us both in answer. “I don’t think it can talk, Dar.” I said as I started getting dressed. As I pulled my shirt back over my head an idea struck me. Oh my gods, Arya! I spun so fast to face the creature I almost fell over. Catching my balance, I fell to my knees in front of it. I practically shouted at the thing. “Did Arya send you?!?” The creature’s sounds intensified, and it jumped up, doing a twist in the air before landing on its roots once more.

That was as much convincing as I needed. Arya had somehow made this creature and sent it to replace us; she was still alive! I started frantically running around, throwing our belongings haphazardly into our packs, barely able to contain my emotions. Darnell calmy got dressed, keeping one eye on the creature and the other on me. It was unlike him not to give some words of caution or ask questions; maybe he just knew that he wouldn’t be able to convince me not to follow the living octo-tree. It was the fastest we had ever packed up camp before, and it still wasn’t fast enough for me. Filling my water sling up to the top with pond water, I shouldered my pack and turned to Darnell. “Ready?” He chuckled at my excitement and swept his hand out in front of him in a gesture that said lead the way. With that, we set off, following a creature that shouldn’t exist to a place we didn’t know. I didn’t care; the only thing that mattered now was getting to my friend.
