The Gay Nerd Who Stole His Heart -
Chapter 67
"Just be cool," Jonah said as he wrapped an arm around Kylan's lower back, entering the restaurant, "it'll pass."
"I don't get why I needed to come."
"If she's inviting me, then we're a pack. I don't want you to be jealous, so you might as well be there with me, right?"
Kylan groaned, but the feeling of being around Jonah was enough to make him follow.
Jonah searched the restaurant for the familiar pair of eyes, and when he saw them both wave a hand, he smiled and grabbed Kylan's palm, pulling him forward.
"Welcome," Leah greeted Jonah, politely placing a peck on his cheek and doing the same to Kylan, "I didn't know you were coming."
"I invited him," Jonah replied and then knelt to his son's level, "How are you, Jacob?"
"I'm excited for you to be here, Dad!" his son beamed, smiling as he grabbed a seat beside Jonah.
"How have you been, kid?" Kylan said to Jonah, who waved an excited hand in his direction. Every time he needed to stay with Jonah for the weekend, most of his time was spent with Kylan.
The waiter approached their table, and their order was made. As they waited, Leah turned to Jonah, "Ben wanted to know if you would have drinks with him soon."
Jonah raised his eyebrows excitingly, "Ben? Lord, I haven't spoken to him in a while. Let me text him right now."
Leah laughed, "Remember when we would all three go clubbing, and he pissed in the booth since he was so drunk."
"Yes, I remember, he was a wild goose," Jonah reaches for his phone in his pocket, "I should catch up with him." "Who's Ben?" Kylan asked quietly, a bit uncomfortable.
Jonah returned the phone in his pocket and placed his arm on the top of Kylan's chair, "He's Leah's brother."
"A few years older than me," she added, "he would get us fake ID's all the time."
"That one time we almost got caught, though," Jonah laughed, turning to Leah with a smile.
"Yup, I didn't know what the birthday on the fake ID was."
"We were such children. How's everything going with you now?"
"I've been going to massage therapy a lot. I've had aching at a few of my joints. Jacob has parent-teacher interviews and really wanted you to be there," she turned to Jacob, who rapidly nodded his head. Jonah pecked Jacob's nose and said, "Of course I'd be there."
"The house-league soccer team he's been playing for lost their last game."
"The game I was busy with work?" When Leah nodded her head, Jonah sent a hand through his hair, "I wish I could've been there."
"But guess who's joining the team next season?"
Jonah's eyes widened, "Who?"
"Bryce's kid."
"Connor?!" Jonah exclaimed, laughing hysterically, "No way!"
"Yea, and apparently the coach is leaving, so Bryce is taking the spot as Coach."
"You have to be kidding me," Jonah was almost in tears with how hard he was laughing, and Leah harmonized with his cackles.
"No, not even kidding!"
"Who's Bryce?" Kylan embarrassingly asked, both of them turning to him and calming down their laughing before finally answering his question.
"He's just an old mutual friend we had." Jonah placed his palm on Kylan's lap when he noticed the uneasy stare he had and leaned over to his ear, "Relax."
Leah furrowed her brows but did not say anything, rather continued their conversation, "By the way, I was going to throw a get-together at my house. Would you like to come?"
"Of course I'm gonna be there" he felt Kylan's body fall rigid and said, "if Kylan can come as well?"
"The more, the merrier, right Jacob?"
"Right."
The food was out, and they all dove in. However, Kylan was being very tense; he did not really talk, instead started downing glasses of wine until he felt tipsy. He was growing annoyed with Leah and Jonah; they had history, and he was not fond of it. There were things between them that always surprised him when Leah came around, and it was hurting him since he believed she know more about Jonah than he did.
Hence why he soon excused himself and headed for the bathroom. When he reached the bathroom and closed himself into a stall, his drunken mind caused tears to fall from his eyes. He was unsure why he was crying, but the more he wiped them off, the more came.
After a few minutes, Jonah left the table to check up on him. He entered the bathroom, and his heart began aching when he heard Kylan's quiet sniffles from the stall. Immediately, he locked the door and walked to his stall, standing in front of it.
Kylan saw his feet and attempted to hide the fact that he was crying, "My stomach started hurting; I just needed some time." "Kylan, what's wrong?"
He sighed, resting his head into his folded arms, "I don't want to make a big deal out of this. We were already in a fight last week about your parents. I don't want to get into another one."
"If it's an issue with you, it's an issue with me. Tell me what's going on."
After a pause, Kylan felt tears begin to swell his eyes again and breathed, "Do you still have feelings for Leah?"
"She's the mother of my child, so I respect her. But no, I don't have any feelings for her."
"She knows you more than I do."
"That's because we were together for a while too, Kylan, but I promise you she doesn't. The only reason it seems like that is because I was only talking to her, but if we started talking, she would have no idea who and what we'd be referring to."

"I know, but..." Kylan exhaled sharply, "I didn't even know Jacob was on a soccer team."
"And you know now."
"Why aren't you telling me those things?"
"I didn't think they mattered," Jonah raised an eyebrow, "Kylan, please open the stall."
"I feel like you guys are still in love with each other."
"How many times do you want me to tell you I'm not," he hissed, "Do you want to leave? Because we can leave."
"No, I know you don't want to."
"Kylan, let's leave if this is making you uncomfortable."
"Your child's here"
"And my child comes first, don't get me wrong. But if you want to leave, we'll leave. I see Jacob every weekend anyway, so it's not a big deal."
Kylan finally opened the stall, and instant Jonah saw how red his eyes were, and they were puffy from the crying, he instantly wrapped his arms around Kylan's shoulders. "Kylan, it literally breaks me when you cry," he whispered, gripping his face between his palms, "If you felt uncomfortable from the beginning, you should've told me." "I'm sorry."
"Stop saying that," Jonah pecked his forehead, "let's leave."
They returned to the table, Kylan hiding his face by lowering his eyes towards the floor and not glancing at Leah and Jacob when Jonah told them they were leaving. Leah was evidently annoyed since she stood from her seat and said, "Why are you guys leaving?"
"Kylan doesn't feel very good. Maybe it was the drinks."
"Stop lying to me," Leah folded her arms, "I saw the way he was staring at us when we were having that conversation. News flash, we were dating well before you swooped him in and stole him from his family." "Leah," Jonah calmed, "Let's have dinner some other time."
"No, I'm over this. He stole you away from your son and your actual family. Can't you see he's a problem, Jonah? The reason your life is going into shits with every other relationship you have is because of him." "You don't know what you're talking about," Kylan retorted, facing her with narrowed eyes.
Jonah grabbed his shoulders, "Kylan, we're not doing this right now-"
"Oh please, I know the father of my child. More than you ever will."

"She's just trying to get under your skin Kylan, let's just go."
"You're just a whore that opened her legs and got pregnant, so now your desperately looking for a man that will even love you with that baggage."
She grabbed her glass and slammed it on the floor, shattering it all over the place, and customers around fell quiet.
"Don't you ever," her teeth were gritted, as she spat, "ever call my son baggage. Maybe it was not planned, but Jacob has never been a burden to me and is the best decision I have ever made. So don't you dare call him baggage." With that, she grabbed Jacob by his palm, and they stormed out of the restaurant.
When Jonah and Kylan were in the car driving back home, Jonah did not speak. The silence was quite tense, and it was evident Jonah was stuck in his thoughts.
Tipsy Kylan wanted this situation to be handled.
"I did nothing wrong, she "
"Kylan," Jonah's voice was low, without any love or care like it usually had, "let's just not talk about it."
Kylan scoffed, "Jonah, she started saying "
"I think it's best if we don't talk about it, so stop."
"No, I want to talk about it."
"And I don't."
"See, you always take other people's sides instead of mine"
"You called my fucking son baggage. Are you serious right now?" Jonah exclaimed in rage. His fists were clenching the steering wheel, "To be honest, if I didn't love you, I would've beat the fuck out of you." Kylan rolled his eyes, "I'm just telling the truth, what everyone is thinking."
"I never said Jacob was a baggage"
"He kinda is, though."
"I can't believe you're saying this to me right now," Jonah chuckled incredulously, forcing himself not to fall for the antagonizing, "Let's not talk about it."
"Face it, for one, he wasn't planned. Also, it's binding you to fucking Leah, and half the time, you're tired of having him over since you have to take care of him. Jonah, he's baggage"
Jonah slammed on the breaks, Kylan's head almost hurting the dashboard. However, when he turned and met the gritted teeth and the flames behind Jonah's gaze, he resisted the urge to leave the car and run away.
"You better shut your damn mouth right now because you have no idea what you're talking about. Jacob is the best thing that happened to me, and it made me realize some stuff that you will never understand. Don't you dare ever say those things to me again because I promise it is the last you will ever speak to me."
