Six Months Later

"Hey buddy," she breathed quietly, kneeling onto the grass and holding the bouquet in her arms. They were quite heavy, and Bradley behind her attempted to help, but she shook her head, wanting her moment along. He stepped backward and remained quiet.

"I've been doing alright," she placed the bouquet in front of the tombstone. "Coping with everything has been difficult, and it's a new challenge every day. But I'm still here, right? The shrink has been keeping me going," she chuckled a bit, but it slowly drifted into the air and returned to the gloomy silence.

She leaned forward, placing her forehead on the tombstone. She had told herself she would not cry this time, that the last visit would have been her last time crying. However, tears raced to her eyes, and she soon began sobbing loudly. Bradley did not say anything, rather stayed standing behind her.

"I miss you," she choked from her tears and attempted to wipe her nose, but her vision had gone completely blurry. "I know it's been a while since the accident, but I think about it every day. I wish I would've never let you—" "Ella," Bradley interrupted her, and she fell quiet, lowering her eyes. "Positive, please."

The shrink had repeatedly told her to speak on positive things occurring in her life, and she nodded her head, "Alright. I started working for a motorcycle company. It's pretty cool. I build parts; they do give me good money. You would have never expected that of me, right? Kylan?"

She reached on the tombstone and grazed her finger across the name imprinted Kylan Burkens.

Will always remember.

"I hope you're doing alright where you are. I think I know you are since you were always so feisty. Maybe not as much as me, but..." she shrugged her shoulders, "you held your ground...sometimes," she laughed. Bradley chuckled as well, "Yes, he did."

Then, she tilted her head to the side and glanced at the tombstone beside Kylan's. She grabbed a few roses from the bouquet and placed them there. Bradley turned around when she did since he had not yet been able to face the truth. "You should say, something babe," she breathed quietly.

He began tearing up and shook his head, "Not today."

"I know you loved Kylan," she whispered to the tombstone, grazing her fingers across the name imprinted Jonah Minty. "I don't doubt that at all. I hope you're doing okay too. I miss arguing with you every day, having you pissing me off whenever I went to visit Kylan at your condo-"

"Can we go?"

Bradley's low tone made Ella sighed and stood to her feet.

"We'll come visit soon, alright?"

As they turned around, they stopped in their tracks when they noticed Leah walking towards them, flowers in her arms. Beside her, with his hand grasped tightly by Leah, was little Jacob who had such gloom on his face.

Bradley and Ella had been aiding Leah a lot with Jacob, and they were similar to second parents since they knew how tough it was for Leah. Hence why, Ella stepped towards Leah and wrapped her arms around her shoulders, tightly squeezing her. "How have you been?"

"I've been alright," Leah shrugged her shoulders, her eyes noticeably teary, "Pushing through day by day. Jacob keeps asking to see Daddy so..." she choked on her words, turning away as she held her breath for a moment, attempting to stop the tears from overflowing.

Ella tilted her head, "How about we wait for you here, and we can go grab some lunch altogether?"

Leah smiled sadly, "It would be my pleasure, thank you." She then glanced towards Bradley, who sent her a tight smile, "How have you been, Brad?"

"I've been alright," he replied dryly, only because the topic of Jonah had not yet been swallowed. He did not want to speak about it, and the only reason he visited the tombstone was for Ella's sake. He needed some time away from what occurred.

Ella knelt, "Hey, little guy? Are you okay?"

He hid behind Leah's leg, not wanting to show that he was sobbing already. However, Ella reached over and wrapped her arms around him, causing him to immediately let her carry him as she breathed, "It's alright. You want me to come with you to the tombstone?"

"A moment alone would be nice," she said politely, and Ella handed Jacob into his mother's arms.

"We'll be in the car-"

"You'll be in the car," Ella said, turning to face Bradley, "I'll wait a few feet away from them."

Leah stepped towards the tombstone, remembering the evening when she had heard the accident occurred. She saw him minutes before he passed; he was awake, struggling to breathe and attempting to reach for the wheeling bed beside him where Kylan laid unconscious with blood trickling along his head.

He had ripped the oxygen mask from his face, and in pain, whispered, "Will he be alright?"

"Sir, you need to-"

"He...needs to be...alright..."

"Sir-"

"Kylan...I love...you..." and he had fallen unconscious, to which he had never woken up from.

The injuries had been severe, and they both died later in the surgical rooms. Ella, Bradley, Leah, Jacob, the Ex-Mayor, his wife, Vladimir, and Bella had all been at the hospital, pacing across the floors, sobbing into their palms, waiting for the news. Until the doctors exited with sadness echoing from their faces to the point that their mere looks were able to cause the Ex-Mayor's knees to buckle onto the ground.

Ella had fainted from the news and woke up with Bradley lying beside her in a hospital bed.

The whole city had been in shock, and the funeral had made national news since the Mayor was involved. Both funerals were done the same day, and it had been such a gloomy rainy day that none of the visitors could ever forget that day. Even worse, the funeral day was Kylan's birthday.

"Hey," Leah placed roses on both tombstones, glazing her fingers across Kylan's and Jonah's before lowering her head and chuckling.

"I used to hate you," she said, facing Kylan's tombstone. She then shrugged her shoulders, "None of that matters anymore. I know you loved Jonah, and he loved you just as much. I wish your story didn't need to end like this since you both deserved the world and love."

Jacob said quietly, standing beside her. She glanced towards him, and he hiccuped, hugging her leg as he breathed, "I miss daddy so much."

"I know. I miss him too. But I know he loved you, with all his heart. And we still love you, Jonah. You are the only thing keeping me going, knowing that someday I'll meet you on the other side. We think about you every day, and Jacob will grow up knowing that he had the greatest father to ever live."

Leah sighed, staring at both their names for a moment before turning around with Jacob carried into her arms and started walking towards Ella.

Ella wrapped an arm around her shoulders, "We'll be okay. We can push through this together."

"It's been six months already," she sighed, "time flies."

"Yes, it does, but I know they're still here with us."

Ella glanced towards the sky, remembering all the memories she had with Kylan. And the fighting she always had with Jonah, who constantly annoyed her. The cafeteria lunches where Jonah and Kylan would constantly flirt with one another. Or when Kylan would leave her at parties to head to Jonah's. Even when she would argue on the phone with Jonah and Kylan would be in the background giggling.

They went from high school teens to adults with jobs.

Then, she whispered, "Time flies..."

She subtly placed her palm on her stomach, and in her mind, she thought, "I wish you could have met them, Jollan Denver. Your uncles would have loved you." The End

Author's Note: Denver is Bradley's last name.
