The greatest man alive novel (by Maverick Bowman) -
Chapter 491
Josiah didn't expect Mr. MacMillan from the Health Bureau to be there. After being reminded of this, he hurriedly excused himself to Adrian, then went to the next box with his glass.
"Who's in the next box?" Adrian asked Molie.
"It's Samuel, the director of Neva Hospital, and Mr. MacMillan from the Health Bureau," Molie said.
Adrian nodded casually and didn't say anything.
Josiah entered the room and was shocked to see Mr. MacMillan and Samuel. He hurriedly said, "Sorry. Mr. MacMillan, Mr. Hood, I didn't know you guys were here. Otherwise, I would have come over to make a toast!"
"I'm so sorry!" Then he picked up his glass and drank it down in one go. "I will drink first to apologize to you!"
Samuel, however, said coldly, "Mr. Wells, you're amazing. You've got exchange places with the Méreau Clinic, so you don't care about us, the leaders of the higher hospitals and the bigwigs of the Health Bureau?"
Josiah shivered and hurriedly said, "Mr. Hood, how could I have thought that? I just found out that Mr. MacMillan was here. Therefore, I immediately came here to make a toast!"
Mr. MacMillan's face was gloomy. He also felt that it was rude for Josiah, the director of the county hospital, to come to Mimar City and not pay a visit to himself at first. Samuel's words made him even angrier.
"I think what Mr. Hood said is true," Mr. MacMillan looked at Josiah and sneered.
Josiah paled in fear and said, "Mr. MacMillan, have I offended you?"
Mr. MacMillan said coldly, "Don't you know if you've offended me?"
Samuel sneered, "All Grade-A tertiary hospitals refuse to work with Poly Pharmaceutical, but your hospital works with it. You have a lot of nerve to disobey Mr. MacMillan."
Josiah said awkwardly, "Mr. Hood, Mr. MacMillan, I'm just following the orders of the provincial government."
"Orders from the provincial government? Why don't I know that?" Mr. MacMillan tapped the table and asked coldly, starting to embarrass Josiah.
Josiah didn't dare to speak because Mr. MacMillan was a very powerful person in the medical community of Neva Province, and he didn't dare to mess with him. If he pissed off Mr. MacMillan, he might be fired tomorrow.
"Mr. MacMillan, don't be angry. It's easy to handle this matter..." Samuel echoed.
"Mr. Hood, how to solve it?" Mr. MacMillan said.
"Have Mr. Wells give up all those places. Have Mr. Wells tell the Méreau Clinic that they aren't good enough to exchange with the Méreau Clinic," Samuel said.
Mr. MacMillan nodded slightly and said, "Mr. Wells, what do you think of Mr. Hood's suggestion?"
Josiah understood. This time, the Méreau Clinic's exchange had excluded all Grade-A tertiary hospitals, making Mr. MacMillan and Samuel unhappy. But it was out of his control!
Instead, they blamed him, making him feel uncomfortable and confused.
"Mr. MacMillan, this is something I can't control. Even if I refused the Méreau Clinic, they wouldn't necessarily be willing to yield the place to Mr. Hood and other Grade-A tertiary hospitals," Josiah said with resignation.
"I don't care if they give us a place or not. But your people can't go, and the same goes for the people from the other township hospitals!" Mr. MacMillan said brutally and domineeringly.
"If your people set foot in the Méreau Clinic, I'll have you fired tomorrow! I am not kidding!"
When Josiah heard Mr. MacMillan's harsh words, his face clouded over.
He gritted his teeth fiercely and said, "Mr. MacMillan, you are hindering the development of medicine in Neva Province! I disagree. I will go!"
Mr. MacMillan didn't think a small county hospital director would dare to disobey an order.
Angry, he kicked Josiah to the ground and said furiously, "Josiah, how dare you disobey me!"
Samuel said coldly, "The director of a small county hospital dares to anger Mr. MacMillan. You are so bold. Are you confused?"
Josiah clenched his fist tightly and didn't say anything.
Just at this time, Adrian came into the box and helped Josiah up from the floor.
Then, he smiled and said, "Mr. Wells and his doctors will be there, and they will be there openly and honorably."
Samuel's face fell when he saw Adrian.
He said coldly, "Who let you in? Get out of here. Is this a place for you to come?"
Josiah said helplessly, "Mr. Evans, it's useless even if I go there. I would be removed from my position and have nowhere to utilize my skills..."
"No, you have plenty of places to shine! If you get fired, I'll make sure you get a job at the Méreau Clinic... Besides, with me here, no one can fire you." Adrian smiled lightly and patted the dust on his body.
Josiah was stunned!
Samuel froze, then laughed uncontrollably and said, "What are you talking about? What a joke! You think of yourself as Mr. MacMillan?"
Mr. MacMillan also laughed outright, shook his head, and said, "Mr. Evans is so awesome. Can you stop me from dismissing a director?"
Adrian raised his hand at Mr. MacMillan and said, "Hmm? Try it..."
Mr. MacMillan took out his cell phone without saying a word. Adrian also took out his cell phone.
Mr. MacMillan said, "Fire Josiah from Rivera County Hospital!"
Adrian said, "Mr. Wells at Rivera County Hospital is a good person. Leaders, please pay attention to him..."
The two men finished their phone calls.
Mr. MacMillan sneered and said to Adrian, "You can't keep him. The papers will be issued in a few minutes. Josiah, you're working with the wrong people, so go home!"
Adrian said, "Mr. Wells, please feel free to take the doctors to study tomorrow and exchange experiences for the benefit of the people and society."
Josiah didn't know whose words to believe for a moment. After all, both of them were big shots with high status. Moreover, Mr. MacMillan was a big shot from the Health Bureau. The next moment, Mr. MacMillan's cell phone rang.
After he saw the caller ID, his face clouded over.
After answering, he heard his old leader cough and say, "Mr. Wells of Rivera County is a pragmatic man. Don't look for trouble with him."
"Sir, how did this alarm you..." Mr. MacMillan said in shock
"Ugh... Leave this matter alone. Don't mess with him. Keep a low profile these days!" The old leader said with a sigh.
The phone call Adrian just made was to Fredo.
Fredo was dissatisfied with the hypocritical people of Neva Province's Grade-A tertiary hospitals. Only because of the struggle at the top and the fact that Noah, an important foreign guest, was involved, he had not struck out.
Grade-A tertiary hospitals' refusal to cooperate with Poly Pharmaceutical may seem simple, but it was very complicated. There were some high-level struggles involved, which could not be explicitly stated. Now that Adrian, through the Méreau Clinic, was striking a blow at those guys who disagreed with Fredo.
Fredo naturally had to defend Adrian and his people.
