Paul was puzzled. Then she picked up the contract, looked at it, and frowned.

"I remember you didn't want to sell it before. What happened? You changed your mind?"

"I thought about it and realized it was just a mine that was about to be exhausted. If someone wants it, I'd better sell it..." Josua answered the suspicious question.

"It's not that simple, is it?" Paul pointed out.

Then she chuckled and added, "It was 800 million before, but now it is only worth 300 million... 1.2 billion, take it or leave it! I am not going to rip off my friends. 800 million belongs to the Carter family. I'll get 400 million."

"You really think I'll buy it? I don't need it now," Paul replied.

Josua's face darkened. "You don't need it? Then don't blame me for not giving you a chance."

"That's right. I don't want it. I changed my mind," Paul answered coldly.

Josua realized that Paul was fooled by the illusions he had created, and now she really thought that Giradia Group needed money eagerly.

"Are you kidding me? I asked the Carter family to sell it to you because of you, and now you are telling me you don't want it?" Josua raised his hand as if he was about to slap Paul.

"I said no! I've changed my mind! And did you say 1.2 billion? Are you serious? Do you think I am an idiot?" Paul sneered.

"You are right. You are an idiot," Josua retorted.

Paul was stunned for a moment. "What I'm talking about is that you thought I was..."

"I thought what?" Josua asked.

Paul chuckled. "Nothing... It's just funny to see you like that!"

Josua got the contract back from Paul. "Whatever! I have to give it back to the Carter family."

Then Josua left the room.

They wanted me to buy the mine because Giradia Group needs money now.

Did he really think I would buy that mine for 1.2 billion dollars? Did he think I was that stupid?"

Ten...

Nine...

Eight...

Three...

Before Paul could finish her countdown, Josua came back from the door again, there was no sign of any rage on his face. All she could see was a bright smile.

"I was just kidding. I would never rip you off. For the sake of you being my old lover, I'll give you a discount. How about one billion dollars?"

As soon as Josua finished his sentence, Paul slapped him hard.

She stared at Josua coldly. "Who is your old lover? I think you have misunderstood our relationship!"

Josua rubbed his temple and asked, "Do you want it or not? Don't waste my time!"

"I do, but for 400 million dollars! Take it or leave it," Paul shrugged and said with a teasing face.

"I really want to slap you!" Josua couldn't help but raise his hand.

"Do it if you dare!" Paul sneered.

Josua reached out and pressed his hands on her chest. He didn't want to slap her. Thus, he groped her to get his revenge.

Paul let out a scream and gasped. The wound on her chest hadn't healed yet, and as he pressed, the heart-piercing pain almost made her faint.

"I would never hit a woman!" Josua laughed.

Paul was furious.

How could he be this despicable?

He pressed my wound and said that he would never hit a woman!

"How about 900 million? That's my final offer," Josua sighed.

"600 million," Paul bargained.

Josua reached out and pressed her chest again.

It hurt so much that she almost rolled off the bed. Tears were streaming down her face, and she gasped continuously.

"I am running out of patience. 800 million. I am not doing this again. If you don't want it, just forget it!"

Paul picked up the book and threw it at Josua's face, but he easily dodged it.

"Don't get upset. It is not good for your wound..."

"So you knowl was hurt? You did do it on purpose? You jerk!" Paul yelled.

"I noticed you've lost some weight. I was just checking," Josua replied calmly.

Paul knew Josua was an a*shole with no bottom line. If she continued to talk to him, maybe her wound would be pressed to bleed.

Thus, she repressed her anger and asked with a gloomy face, "Ok, then. 800 million! Don't try to trick me again!"

"I will never do that! It's written in the contract. If you don't believe me, you can ask your lawyer to check!"

Paul snorted. Then she picked up the contract and read it carefully.

He was right. She didn't replace any loophole in the contract and nodded with contentment.

"Transfer the 800 million so that we can sign the contract."

"You sign first, and I'll transfer the money," Paul demanded.

Josua shrugged, signed it, and handed it to Paul.

Paul nodded in satisfaction, took out her phone and made a call.

"I got the mine. I will send you their bank account, and you can transfer the money."

Then she hung up the phone. She was afraid that Josua would hear something from her conversation with the person on the phone. Josua's hearing was remarkable. Thus, even if Paul didn't put it on the speaker, he still could hear what they were saying.

"Why are you acting like this? We were so close, remember?" Josua said with a playful smile.

"Don't pretend like we are friends. just give me the bank account!" Paul ordered.

Paul texted the bank account, and three minutes later, Josua received 800 million.

Josua called Jamie immediately. "Jamie! I sold that almost abandoned iron mine of yours for 400 million dollars!"

"What's that? You are giving me 20 million as a commission? Thanks a lot!"

"It's Ok. I didn't do much..."

Paul was stunned for a moment and rolled her eyes. "Did you say you would never rip off your friend? Now, what are you doing? You gave them half of the money and had the audacity to take another 400 million from them?"

Josua put his phone back in his pocket and smiled. "Did I say that? I don't remember... You should rest. Call me if you have other ways to make money, Ok?"

"Get the f*ck out of here!" Paul scolded.

Josua left with a big smile.

Paul sighed with relief while holding the contract. She finally did it. This was the first step towards her success. Now all she needed to do was to stay in bed for a few days and return to Emperia City after she was discharged from the hospital.

She didn't know that she had already been tricked by Josua again.

The Mendez family took over the mine without any precautions, and this left the Carter family enough time to prepare their plan before the Mendez family knew it.

Josua transferred the 800 million to Jamie's account after he got back to the company.
