The Half Blood Luna
The Half B***d Luna Chapter 43

Ella’s POV

I was still standing where I was after the alpha left. His last words made something melt inside my heart. No one ever wished me a happy birthday before. He was the first one. It may be such a trivial thing to be so thrilled about, but to me it meant a lot.

I was unable to believe that I offered myself to him. I was supposed to do that if he never found one, not right now. I have no idea why I opened my mouth. I was half expecting him to snap at me in disgust for offering such a thing, I was also half expecting him to take me up on my offer. But he surprised me and did neither.

‘Thank you for thinking about me, when I’ve done nothing to deserve such kindness from you. I don’t deserve your sacrifice for me Ella’

I can’t believe those words came out of him. He showed me a different side of him today. A side that really saw me as just Ella, and not my father’s daughter. It showed how much his struggle was real. How much he was fighting that struggle and that rage inside him that told him to snap and lash out at everyone around him, and not let it take over his true self, his kind and fair self. He refused me because he wants me to live happily, because he doesn’t want to touch me against my will. It only made me willing to marry him even more. Not everyone can understand his pain. Not everyone can feel and perceive his sense of betrayal towards Kate’s memory for touching another woman, but I do. I hope he replaces someone who understands his jumbled and complicated feelings like me.

When I told him that I trusted him, that I know he wouldn’t hurt me, I wasn’t lying. He really was a good guy, he wasn’t a monster like I believed he was at the beginning. His only problem is that he lets his anger take over and he looses control of himself, that’s the only time I’m always afraid of him.

When I told him that I know what the elders asked of him, that I eavesdropped on a private conversation, that he snapped at me that day because he still sees me as a murderer’s daughter, he took a step towards me and I was scared out of my mind that he was going to push me and pin me against the wall again, or worse punish me for sticking myself in his private life. But he did none of those things. He tried to take my fear away.

I just never know what to expect from him, he was so freaking complicated. That’s why I preferred to stay away. With him, I was always on edge. I still don’t understand why he was practically glaring at me and Jake after he saw us dancing. He kept glaring at me for quiet a while, even his tone was sharp at first. The only explanation was jealousy. But it was too far fetched, I pushed it away immediately.

Linda and Jake came back into the room and pulled me out of my deep thoughts.

They were both looking at me carefully.

“What?“ I asked in confusion.

“Are you okay? He looked pretty mad at first. But when he came out smiling, it got us so confused” said Jake in wonder.

I raised my eyebrows at them. He was smiling? Well he must have smiled after he turned away from me, because I would have noticed it for sure.

“Well, what happened?“ pressed Jake with burning curiosity while Linda nudged him with her elbow.

“Nothing, he came to tell me to attend the ceremony today and I agreed. So I guess we are all going now” I said simply.

“That’s it? You guys were in here a long time…” said Jake before Linda cut him off.

“Jake, she doesn’t want to tell you obviously. Stop nagging, god you’re worse than girls”

“I just thought maybe she wanted to get something off her chest, that’s all”

“Well, she doesn’t. Now since I am going too, I need you to stay here while I go get my stuff so Ella and I can get ready together. I don’t want to leave her alone”

“Yes ma’am” said Jake teasingly.

She rolled her eyes and left the room.

He turned to me and said excitedly “see? I told you those dancing lessons will come in handy. Now you owe me a dance on that dance floor and don’t go all shy on me in public ok?”

I laughed and said “No I won’t go shy. I will save a dance for you”

After Linda returned, Jake left us alone and we started talking about what we are going to do with our hair and make up.

By the time we were finished with everything, Linda was wearing an a line, long, strapless, dress. The top was silver with different sizes of white sparkling gemstones, high neck, and backless, while the skirt was a beautiful cobalt blue. She was wearing long silver heels. Her make up was heavy with smoky eyes, long eyelashes, and red lipstick. Her red hair was styled in an elegant braided updo with small strands framing her face. She looked so stunning. I bet Jake was going to lose his mind when he sees her.

The dress Sara and I bought for me was rose gold, fully sparkling, strapless one shoulder dress with a long side slit that reaches my middle thigh. It hugs my body perfectly until the slit begins then falls down in a straight column silhouette. I wore medium-length gold chunky heels. They weren’t that bad to walk in considering it was my first time wearing heels. I danced in them several times with Jake, so I became pretty confident in them. Since I had no experience with make up, I asked for Linda’s help. She applied a light make up upon my request. Soft rose gold eyeshadow, winged eyeliner, mascara, and a rose pink lipstick. My golden hair was kept in its usual curl pattern but styled in a half updo with little strands loose in the front.

I looked myself in the mirror and didn’t recognize myself at all. I was a different person. I felt beautiful.

“Shall we? I think it already started… wow, I know I’ve said it already, but you look so pretty Ella” said Linda while looking at my reflection.

“You look stunning as well” I smiled at her.

We went out of my room and headed upstairs to one of the banquet halls. We entered and stared at the place in wonder. It was huge with lots of beautiful decorations. The hall was already full, it looked like we were the last people to arrive. But the dancing hasn’t started yet. There was soft low music playing in the background. So thankfully, we weren’t so late. It was impossible to spot Joseph or Sara from this distance. I turned to Linda and asked her “Do you know where I can replace Sara and Joseph?”

She nodded and motioned for me to follow her.
