The Headmaster Alpha's Mate -
The Headmaster Alpha’s Mate Chapter 61
Zander looked at his beautiful mate, the day had come, a decision had to be made. Offering her a soft smile, he began to speak.
“It seems that rumours are flowing through the council members that we are hiding something.” Zander began, then nodded at Luke to continue.
“Luna, there are a number of rumours regarding the sudden change of your birthday, some accusing Zander of not waiting till you were 18 before mating and marking, thus breaking the law. Another is that you and Zander are looking to build an army to strike against the council. The other gossip that is more concerning and dangerous, is that you are a royal wolf.” Luke sighed.
“Do we know where they are coming from?” Chloe asked.
“The rumours about your birth date change were always going to surface. Thankfully, Cheryl covered our backs with regards to emails from your parents. So, I am not concerned about that one. What does concern me is the building of an army and the royal wolf rumour. It seems whoever is orchestrating the rogue attacks got a message back, stating that Ursula had cried out over mind link for them all to retreat, that you had shifted, were powerful, and purple.” Luke began.
“We have not tried to build an army. We have no intention of attacking the council. That is not to say we will not defend ourselves if we are attacked. My question is, what about the council? Clearly, someone is involved with the attacks on our pack, so why are they not trying to sort that out?” Chloe asked, her tone harsh as she thought about the injustice of them entertaining one law break yet outraged about a law that was not broken.
“I do not believe that all members are a part of the plot, Luna, some would support you as a royal wolf, but others are running afraid. Scared they will lose their power if such a claim is true.” Luke continued.
Chloe glanced at Zander.
“What are we going to do?” she asked.
“Luke, can you have Faith come into the office?” Zander asked.
A few moments later, Faith arrived. She bowed her head to Zander and Chloe. Taking a seat beside her mate, she looked towards her Alpha.
“Faith, Luke, it is time we told you both everything.” Zander stated, then reached out his arms so that Chloe would sit on his lap.
For over an hour, Zander shared all the information they had about Chloe and her heritage, as Faith and Luke listened carefully.
“Alpha, if I may. Tomorrow is the Luna ceremony. I think the pack will be informed before Chloe makes her commitments. Then she can shift and join the pack run. I would also recommend we inform those packs you have forged an alliance with, let them know what is happening. I have no doubt word will reach the council; however, we are not totally friendless there. Luke and I can talk with the members who we know would welcome another royal line, hopefully gaining their support. This can no longer be hidden. However, we should swear those we tell to secrecy until after the games, using them to strengthen and forge new alliances. With regards to you building an army, I know it is not yet true, but time is of the essence now, and I feel we must replace those who will fight with us against the corruption of the council. I believe there are some packs that, although they fought against the Royals, not because of the changes, but because they wanted democratic rule, may have had a change of heart, seeing that democracy is not being served, nor has it been for over ten years.”
Zander and Chloe nodded, then looked at Robin and Josh, who both nodded in agreement.
“I have one other thing to ask you both. Once word gets out, you will not be safe acting as our pack ambassador’s. My Luna and I wish for you to become our beta when Robin and Lacey’s house is ready, and we split the pack.” Zander asked.
“Alpha, Luna, Faith and I are astounded and thankful for your offer. Yes, we would love to return to the pack as your Beta’s. But first we have work to do, and we are fully aware of the dangers, but we need to return to the council, to forge alliance’s. We should do this until the new pack is ready to move into.” Luke said.
“I agree with my mate, even in just a few days or weeks we can achieve so much.” Faith nodded then smiled at Luke as he took her hand and kissed it.
“It is a dangerous thing you propose, and although we see that it would be good to have more information from the council and time to gather supporters. I cannot in all honesty ask you to do this for us. You have a son, he needs you, your pack needs you. I am not convinced the benefits outweigh the risks.” Chloe sighed, she did not want Ethan’s parents in more danger than necessary.
“Luna, I am grateful for your love and your wish to protect our son. But Ethan is 16, soon to be 17, he will understand. Even if we only gain one ally, it is worth the risk.” Faith smiled at Chloe.
“Chloe, you have friends. Ethan is one of those. Would you like to tell him yourself tonight? Then we can ask him for his opinion regarding what his parents are proposing.” Robin asked.
Chloe looked at Zander, who nodded at her.
“Okay, yes, we will bring him in. Let’s get Nicki and Lacey in here as well.” Chloe agreed.
Nicki and Lacey walked together towards the Alpha’s office. Both already knew what was happening, as their mates had given them updates via mind link. Neither of them spoke about it in the pack house for fear of being overheard. Once they entered the sound proof office, they immediately sat on their mate’s lap as they waited for Ethan to arrive.
When the order came for Ethan to make his way to the Alpha’s office, he gulped. He knew Chloe had realised he was with Ellie, but all they did was k**s, his and her first ever k**s. He worried he may be in trouble and so hesitated beyond the door before taking a deep breath and knocking.
As the door opened, he saw his parents giving him a soft smile, as Chloe nodded at him to enter.
“Before you say anything, we only kissed nothing more!” Ethan quickly defended himself.
Chloe let out a little giggle and shook her head.
“That is not why you are here.” She laughed slightly as Zander looked at his mate.
“Who did he k**s?” Zander linked with Chloe.
“Ellie, I was going to have a word with them later about being careful.”
“Maybe Josh should do it with him, after all, he thought uptight was his mate.So he will understand from a young male point of view.”
“Yeah, okay, whatever you think is best.” Chloe agreed.
“Ethan, we are about to tell you something. It is imperative that until the formal announcement you tell nobody outside of this room,” Zander began.
Ethan looked around at everyone, then nodded his head.
“Not even Ellie, Ethan,” Chloe added.
“Okay, what’s going on?” Ethan asked.
“Ethan, I am sorry that I did not tell you sooner, but I want you to know before the rest of the pack as one of my closest friends.” Chloe began.
Ethan looked at his friend and Luna and nodded his head once more, wondering what was going to happen.
“Ethan, this is a lot to take in, but I am a princess, the secret daughter of King Asher and Queen Rebecca. I did not know myself until my wolf began to react to Zander, then I had to ask questions of my human parents. I shifted during the fight at school, when I killed uptight, However, she linked to the other rogues that I am a royal wolf.” Chloe stated.
Ethan stared at his friend, but he was not shocked, not in the slightest, there was always something about her, and he broke into a broad smile.
“Bad a*s princess. I always knew there was something different about you. Should I curtsey now?” Ethan chuckled.
“ Don’t you bloody dare!” Chloe laughed at him.
“As you wish your highness,” Ethan teased.
“It is Chloe, just Chloe.” Chloe shook her head, knowing her friend was trying to wind her up, and pleased her heritage did not put a barrier between them where their friendship was concerned.
“We are going to make the announcement at the Luna Ceremony tomorrow, but you know this puts everyone in the pack in danger.” Zander said, opening up the conversation regarding his parents.
“Danger, I laugh in the face of danger ha ha ha” Ethan said, quoting the Lion King.
“This is more important than visiting an elephant graveyard, Ethan.” Nicki laughed at him.
“Okay, so it is dangerous. Look, the pack will all follow you both. Chloe gained the trust of many of the younger wolves, especially when she dumped that tray of breakfast over the bitches head. They know she is not afraid to defend them, and they love her. I am sure most of the old wolves do as well.” Ethan began with a smile.
“Yes, thank you, Ethan, your parents, they have uncovered some dangerous rumours. Once it becomes known Chloe is a princess, they will be in danger.” Zander continued.
Ethan looked at his mother and father, then offered them a smile.
“Ethan, Son, your mother and I would like to return to the council after the announcement is made, until the pack house for Silver Crescent is built, so we can try and get a list of allies, and maybe convince some who sit on the fence to back us. Then we will return to take over as Beta of the pack.” Luke began.
“But if you prefer that they do not return, Ethan, we are happy for them to stay.” Chloe added.
“Will it help if you go, mum?” Ethan asked.
“I believe it will, but there is a chance we will not come back,” Faith softly added.
“Okay, if it helps then you must go, it is for the good of the pack, and you always told me to put the pack first.” Ethan smiled.
For all he would worry, he understood his parents had a job to do, and so they needed to do it, whatever the risk.
“Then it is decided after the ceremony and the pack run, we will head straight back to the Council and do, what we can before coming back in two days for the opening ceremony for the interpack games.” Faith smiled.
“Right, remember what was discussed here, goes no further. Now let’s all get some rest. We have a busy few days. Josh, Robin, would you mind staying with me so we can talk with our allies tonight to prepare them.” Zander asked.
“We will all stay Alpha.” Faith smiled, after all her gift was discernment, she would know if an Alpha was being honest or not, even through a phone call.
“Agreed, Nicky, Lacey and I can help, even if it is just making pots of coffee to keep everyone going,” Chloe declared.
“Right, let’s get to work.” Zander ordered, as the group all began to make calls and hope that alliances would stand firm.
