The Headmaster Alpha’s Mate Chapter 96

As the moon peaked out from behind the dark clouds, illuminating the night sky, the black Range rover wound its way around the twists and turns of the narrow country roads, towards the Crescent Moon pack borders. It had been a long journey for the four werewolves, and Chloe could not help but smile triumphantly as she glanced over her shoulder to see Ellie sleeping, her head resting on Ethan’s shoulder as his head rested gently on top of hers. Both had reached out to the other in their slumber, and their hands were intertwined together. The attraction and feelings between them were apparent as they softly snored in unison. For all, nobody knew if the young werewolves were ‘mates’ or not, they had a bond which was clear for anyone to see, and Chloe hoped they could replace solace in a strong friendship whilst they awaited their eighteenth birthdays.

Zander’s hand gently rested on Chloe’s thigh inbetween the gear changes, and although she was consumed with the tingles and sparks that would ignite her s****l desire for him, tonight, it felt more peaceful, reassuring, a source of perfect comfort and togetherness. Taking a deep breath, Chloe enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere of the car. She understood all too well, that times like these were sacred, where both her and Zander could enjoy a peace that surpassed normal understanding, despite all the drama and uncertainty that surrounded them. These moments were precious to her. Here she was not the Princess heading towards a battle that would dictate the future of all of their kind. Nor was she a Luna responsible for hundreds of werewolves’ well-being, she was just Chloe, driving with her mate and two friends, with nothing to concern her. As they approached the gates to the Cresent Moon pack lands, Chloe let out a long sigh, she had an overwhelming need to just stay in the car, to forget the world and its troubles, to enjoy this rare moment of peace for even just a few seconds longer before reality burst her peaceful bubble. The car pulled up outside the packhouse, and as Zander cut the engine, Ethan and Ellie began to stir, waking from their sleep. Seeing that she was sleeping on Ethan’s shoulder and holding his hand, Ellie jumped free, her cheeks turning pink. Before she could panic too much, Chloe looked around at them.

“Hey, get your things out of the boot, and head straight to bed you two, it has been a long journey, and please, take an extra couple of hours in the morning to lie in and recuperate. I will let Terrance know you have permission to miss morning training.” She smiled.

“Thank you Chloe.But I have missed a lot of training recently, and I really do not want to miss any more”, Ellie blushed.

Ellie had a plan, for all she was an omega, she had begun to love training, and learning how to defend herself and her mother if an attack should come their way, and so she was going to work hard to be good enough to become a warrior of the pack, rather than a house maid. She was grateful that she lived in a pack that looked at people’s abilities and personal ambitions, and, irrespective of rank, that would help and support her in any way they could so that she could achieve her goals. Ellie knew well that if she had lived elsewhere, she would not be given any opportunity to fight alongside those who were born with a higher ranking b***d line, and so she was determined not to let the opportunities to fulfill her dreams go, or take advantage of her Luna and Alpha’s kindness towards her.

Zander rushed around the car to open Chloe’s door, his hand reaching for hers as he helped her out of the SUV, and led her up the small stairs, and opened the door, to replace Faith and Luke waiting in the hallway for them.

“Alpha, Luna.” Luke bowed his head as a show of respect.

Faith went over to Ethan and gathered him into a warm embrace, as he protested slightly that he was not five, but had a small satisfied smirk on his face, that was a clear indication that he was enjoying his mummy cuddle, despite his words to the contrary.

“Anything urgent we need to know about?” Zander asked Luke, hoping that whatever was happening could be dealt with the next morning.

Accurately reading the look in his Alpha’s eyes. Luke decided to leave the pack updates and recent concerns until the morning. One more night would not change anything, and it was clear to him that Zander needed a night of peace, and not problems.

“Nothing that cannot wait until tomorrow.” Luke nodded,not failing to notice the relief that flooded his Alpha’s eyes.

“Okay, let’s meet in my office first thing after breakfast, Faith, can you call Josh and Nicki, along with Robin and Lacey to join us as well please.” Zander asked his beta female.

“Yes, of course, Alpha.” Faith smiled.

“Oh, and let Terrance know that Ellie and Ethan have my permission to skip morning training, if they want to.” Chloe added, although she had a strong feeling, Ellie would still turn up, and wherever Ellie went, Ethan was sure to follow.

Chloe attempted to stifle a yawn, and with a smile, Zander lifted her into his arms bridal style, and made his way up the stairs to the Alpha suit.

“Come on sleepy head, let’s get you to bed.” Zander chuckled, as he opened the door to the Barbie-inspired bedroom, and placed her on the large bed.

Bending over, he began to undress his mate, as her eyes grew heavier and heavier, she looked so young, right at that moment, too young to have to deal with everything that was happening, and he felt a sting in his heart once more for the loss of her teenage years. He had never wanted this for her, he had wanted her to experience everything a normal teenage girl did, the party’s, the mistakes, the carefree years of young adulthood, but yet here they were, the weight of the werewolf world on their shoulders, and she was dealing with it all like a rock star. Tucking her into bed, he moved to the bathroom, taking a quick shower, the hot water soothing his aching muscles. It was during these times when he was completely alone, that he could let go of his strength and embrace his weakness. Tears fell onto his cheeks as he thought about the pup that they had lost. He aloud his own grief to flow freely without condemnation down his cheeks, as the hot shower washed them away as they fell. He mourned the loss of his mate’s teenage years,wishing that things were different, as his mother’s words echoed in his ears,

“Wish in one hand and s**t in the other and see which one fills up first.” She would scold him when he was a teenage pup, wanting to wish his life away, wanting to be free of the constraints upon his life like his friends, rather than face up to the responsibilities of being a future Alpha. Here, alone in the shower, he could give in to the concerns he had that he was not good enough to complete the task that was ahead of them, that maybe he was not strong enough to protect his beautiful princess, that he would fail her. His worries could be voiced as he whispered into the air, that he did not feel good enough, and the question on his lips “Why, why does this burden fall on Chloe, Why does this burden fall on me?” Without fear of looking weak and less of an Alpha. As he embraced the negative thoughts that he held locked away in his mind, his emotions turned from sadness to anger towards those who had set themselves against them, those who had little or no regard for the werewolf kind, who only sought power for their own selfish gain. Channeling his anger, he felt the strength return to him, as he realized, if not him, if not Chloe, then who else would stand up for the injustices of this word, and once more he felt the resolve to push forward, no matter what the cost, so that everyone could live in a better world.

His body washed, and his moment of weakness over with for another day, Zander stepped out of the shower, wrapping a towel low on his waist, as he made his way back into the bedroom,, the light of the moon shining through the curtains, reflecting off Chloe’s perfect curves, her skin shining under the light of the silvery moon. His heart swelled in his chest as he gazed at her beautiful sleeping body, wondering what he had done to deserve such a perfect mate. A smile formed on his face, as he placed a strand of her purple hair behind her ear, and she m****d slightly. His mate, so strong, so kind, so compassionate, yet filled with sass and a mischievous spirit, that kept him on his toes, her sense of humor blended with his own. She never failed to make him laugh, at some of her ways and antics. Bending down, he placed a soft k**s on her cheek.They had never spoken any more about his marriage proposal, but Zander had not forgotten, he wanted the world to know whether human or werewolf, that this perfect girl belonged to him and only him, and he felt everyone deserved another celebration, to forget just for a day the realities that were surrounding them. She deserved that, and so did the pack, who had stood by him throughout the years, through thick and thin. He felt strength return to him once more, and he knew that she was the one who made him strong enough to fulfill his destiny. As he continued to gaze at Chloe, his heart expanded in his chest, his love for her increasing tenfold. If that were even possible, she was his everything.

“I will do everything in my power to protect you.” his promise whispered softly in her ear.

Dropping his towel, Zander climbed into the bed. Wrapping his arms around Chloe, he gently snuggled up to her, as once more she let out a contented sigh in her sleep. Having her in his arms was what made everything right in his world. She brought him peace, strength and, most of all, consumed him with pure love. Tomorrow was another day, and he made a conscious choice not to worry about what it would bring. He needed to live in this moment, just him and Chloe together as they should be, wrapped in each other’s warm embrace. Zander closed his eyes, and drifted off into his own peaceful sleep, knowing that together with Chloe he could and would face the world, and he was filled anew with a determination to succeed, because of her.
