The Heart Made of Broken Gold -
Chapter 22
Chapter 22: The Shock
Elizabeth is preparing for her trip to England and eagerly anticipates becoming Andrew’s spouse. She joins her friends for a movie outing, where she notices Susan talking to a group of young men. Elizabeth strongly dislikes Susan, feeling guilty about her negative feelings towards her cousin. This is because Susan manipulates and takes advantage of guys, going out with them and then discarding them when she loses interest.
Elizabeth is on her way back to her house to collect her luggage before heading to the airport. She becomes aware of a car tailing her, but assumes it is coincidental. However, she notices that the car is following too closely. Elizabeth attempts to signal for the car to pass her, but they refuse. Instead, the car begins to collide with her vehicle. Elizabeth becomes frightened and tries to distance herself from the car. She wants to call the police, but her phone is in the backseat.
Elizabeth’s vehicle was struck by the pursuing car, resulting in her losing control and colliding with a tree. She swiftly exited the car and began fleeing, but the individual responsible for the accident pursued her on foot. As she ran for her life, Elizabeth’s legs were in pain. She begged the person to cease their pursuit, but they shouted that they intended to assist her. Regrettably, Elizabeth’s fear overwhelmed her, causing her to stumble on a large rock and tumble off a cliff.
Nicholas was in disbelief. He had no intention of causing harm to Princess Elizabeth. Instead, he wanted to replace a secure location to keep her safe. Overwhelmed with emotions, Nicholas broke down and cried, releasing heart-wrenching screams. Felicity reached out to him, but he declined to talk, abruptly ending the call. Nicholas then resolutely decided to completely wreck Elizabeth’s car, leaving nothing behind.
Andrew was waiting anxiously for Elizabeth at the airport, but she didn’t show up. Concerned, he decided to call her mom Anne to see if she knew anything.
“Hey, ma’am, Elizabeth never shows up at the airport and she is never late. Do you know where she is at?” Andrew asked.
Anne replied, “I do know that she was going to the movies with friends and headed to the airport once she got her bags.”
Andrew explained that he had tried calling her, but she wasn’t picking up the phone. Anne promised to try calling Elizabeth herself and said she would let Andrew know if she was able to get in touch with her.
King Henry asked Anne about the whereabouts of Elizabeth and Andrew, who were supposed to be at the airport. Anne expressed her concern, stating that she did not know where Elizabeth was and that they had been unable to reach her by phone. King Henry suggested calling the police, to which Anne replied that she was about to do so. King Henry informed Anne that he would be on the first plane to Mississippi. Anne contacted the police, but they informed her that they could not file a missing person report until 48 hours had passed. This angered Anne.
Anne’s worry had only grown as the hours ticked by with no word from Elizabeth. Andrew shared her concern, and they were all the more anxious given that the rest of their company had already made it to Mississippi. Catherine was quick to offer comfort, embracing Anne tightly. The entire neighborhood banded together to search for Elizabeth, but despite their best efforts, she remained elusive. King Henry was beside himself with worry and frustration, and he had even gone so far as to hire private investigators to aid in the search. The King had even put up a reward for anyone who could provide information on Elizabeth’s whereabouts.
It has been months since Princess Elizabeth disappeared. The police have been searching for her, but unfortunately, they believe she may have passed away. Despite this, King Henry and Anne are not willing to give up their search. Anne is convinced that Elizabeth is still alive somewhere, and she is determined to replace her. However, Anne is frustrated with the lack of effort from the police, as they have stopped looking for Elizabeth. Thankfully, private investigators are still on the case and are tirelessly searching for any leads that could bring Elizabeth home.
Andrew is going through a tough time right now. His parents are doing everything they can to console him, but it’s clear that he’s devastated about Elizabeth’s disappearance. Meanwhile, Edward is absolutely fuming. He’s convinced that his sister Princess Mary had something to do with what happened to Elizabeth. And he’s not alone - both Anne and Princess Katherine share his suspicions. However, Jane is more hesitant to jump to conclusions. She doesn’t believe that Princess Mary would have ever intentionally hurt her sister. It’s worth noting that Princess Mary is still banished from the castle, which only adds to the overall sense of unease and tension in the air.
