Scarlett

I woke up on the lawn that now looked like an old acquaintance, the moon seemed even bigger and brighter, and I quickly looked around to replace the Moon Goddess behind me, I didn't understand why I was there again, a chill ran through my spine and I feared I was between life and death once again.

"Am I okay?" I asked quietly, instinctively trying to look at my clothes to see if I could replace any evidence of something wrong.

"Yes Scarlett darling, you're just sleeping now." She said calmly, but this time she didn't sit down, the Goddess remained standing, looking forward with her hands behind her, contemplating the beautiful landscape that surrounded us. "You're on the right path, you're just too naive to know the real reason for the attacks, it's not just territory. It's something deeper than that."

She started to speak and turned to me as if I could understand, as if by saying that something would awaken in me and understand everything, but still nothing made sense.

The Goddess took the necklace that was around her neck and analyzed the Moonstone she wore.

"You know, Scarlett, moonstones are found deep in hills that receive moonlight, usually near low vegetation, rubies are found in mountains, usually further north near pine trees, and diamonds are found in hills near oak trees... "

I didn't understand why she was saying that, it didn't make much sense to me. She noticed my confusion and smiled, being in her presence was the most incredible thing I had ever felt, it made every hair on my body stand up and it was as if I was surrounded by peace and love, but seeing her smile, was something even better.

"Remember what I said the last time we saw each other?"

"Which part?" I asked confused, she had revealed many things to me, but I didn't know exactly which one she was talking about.

"That at the right time, the whole truth will be revealed. The righteous have prevailed…" She said, raising her voice. "You need to remember this, Scarlett, and I will need your faith in me to be greater than anything, I will always be with you, even when everything seems hopeless, I always replace a way out. When it comes to my will, all kinds of miracles can happen." She said it again and I felt like the words were stuck in my mind.

God's index finger approached me and I knew what to expect, I closed my eyes and everything was spinning around me.

I woke up still not understanding if the dream was real if I talked to the Moon again, or if it was just a dream without much meaning, a result of my imagination. I expected to replace Christopher next to me, but his side was empty, but there was a note.

You slept too beautifully for me to wake you up, I'm in the office if you need me.

I smiled at how caring he was in doing that, and I got up to take a shower, changed my clothes, and went down to his office. I passed by employees and leaders, and everyone greeted me happily, it was strange that I had been there for such a short time, but felt so familiar with it all, and deep down I liked it.

When I arrived at the two large wooden doors Hensen was leaving at that moment. He smiled and held the door for me to enter.

Christopher was concentrating on papers, but he looked up when he saw me enter the room, a smile appeared on his lips and I saw his face light up. I loved the reaction he got when he saw me. I walked slowly towards him while asking.

"Has it been a long time since you got up? You should have woken me up!" I asked and he pushed his chair back, increasing the space between him and the table and patting his lap twice, inviting me to sit there.

"As amazing as it is to sleep with you by my side, these things still keep me up at night, and you needed to rest." He answered me as soon as I settled down to sit on his lap. He removed all my hair from my back and with every touch of his fingers on my skin I felt chills and electric shocks running through my body, he placed all my hair on one side and left my neck exposed, a gesture he was already getting used to.

"Any news?" I asked, turning to the table, and there were dozens of papers and more papers, but one of them caught my attention, it was further back, it was old, yellowed and it was a map.

It was an old map from when Christopher and Joshua's Packs were one, it was a territorial and geographical map, but one of the images caught my attention, it marked the hills that demarcated the current division of the Packs, they were the hills with Oak forests. I stared at the map for a few seconds and Christopher said something, but it sounded like a distant whisper. It felt like my brain was somewhere else, trying to remember and understand some things, and my eyes only saw the hills and the oak forest, and I remembered my dream...

"It wasn't in my head"

"Scarlett, what are you talking about?" Christopher asked making me turn to him.

"I had a dream about the Goddess and I even thought it was in my head, I thought it was my hallucination, but she said something about precious stones and where they are normally found, and she said something about diamonds and hills of oak trees and…"

At that moment I saw Christopher shift beneath me, he moved in the chair to get out and I jumped off his lap, to the point where I saw him get up and run his hands through his hair nervously.

"How do you know that? And… It can't be that…."

He started to speak nervously, not knowing exactly what to say and I saw in his eyes the storm that was happening inside his head.

"Christopher, what happened?" I asked and his eyes lifted to meet mine.

"Scarlett, my grandfather…" He started to speak and laughed in the middle of the sentence, as remembering made it even more improbable. "My grandfather talked about an ancient legend of our lands, that they kept secrets and treasures, he talked about diamonds, that if one day we needed help, it could go deep, deeper…" The choice of words reminded me of another part of the dream.

"The Goddess said something about this conflict, she said that we were too naive to know the real reason for the attack, which was deeper." I shook my head, trying to straighten my thoughts. "Christopher don't you think so?" I asked him wide-eyed and then turned to the map. "Do you have a map of the current division of the Packs?"

Christopher nodded flipped through some more papers, and handed them to me, we placed the two maps side by side. And there it became even more evident. I took a sheet of translucent paper that was up there, outlined the current map, drew the division of the borders, and placed it over the old one, I circled the entire oak area, and damn.

If the Moon was right if it was something deeper than that? If it's Joshua looking for diamonds in the hills with the Oak forest. They not only demarcated the borders, they just started there, Joshua's Pack only took a small part, the tip of the iceberg, but our Pack was simply bypassed by them, that is, if there were diamonds down there, and Joshua saw A small part of this, he wanted our Pack to explore further.

"Christopher, if he excavated in the part of the forest that reaches his Pack, he must imagine that the rest of the forest is filled with diamonds below it. Maybe it is this deep reason that the Moon talks about so much…"

"If he started digging, even though he was trying to hide it, something needs to show up in the finances. Maybe there will be some clue." Christopher started talking, walking in circles.

"That's why someone from the Council must have been involved, he offered a share of the diamonds," I said trying to fit the pieces together in my head.

"We need to act, Scarlett," Christopher told me, almost like a plea, like a duty. But my heart quickened when he said We. When he considered the two of us, as a lead, as one.

"And we will," I told him smiling, when a plan started popping into my head. "Let's start by analyzing his finances, we have access after a year, right?"

"Yeah, I'll call your dad to look into it."

"And we have Bertha and some exiles in custody right?"

"Yes," He replied but furrowed his eyebrows and tilted his face to the side.

"And they have no idea that we know everything now, right?" I asked and Christopher smiled.

"So we use that to our advantage," I said shrugging my shoulders. "Let's interrogate them saying that we know that Joshua wants his Pack for family and territorial reasons."

Christopher's smile widened, and then he wrapped both hands around my waist and pulled me close.

"You look so sexy when you're smart, making decisions, full of plans, and saving our Pack." I smiled back, and he turned us around, resting his hips on the table and pulling me into his embrace, Christopher kissed my neck making me shiver, and I contorted my body against him, but we had a lot to do.

"We need to act, Alpha," I said in whispers. And I heard him growl, as he pressed his body even more against mine and I felt his erection growing and pressing against me.

"You calling me Alpha doesn't help, sweetie." He said back now kissing my lips, claiming them for himself and I easily lost my mind being with him, I would easily abandon the plan halfway and I would certainly easily have sex with him right there.

"We need to go," I said, still panting and out of breath from the kisses, and tried again to rationalize,

"I know." He now said sighing, slowly moving away.

Christopher called my father and asked him to analyze the finances of Joshua's Pack, and he and I went to the guard headquarters.
