Alexander

POV

I wait anxiously for Erick and his wolves to arrive. We are ready for them. I have warned the others that he is hot-headed and pissed off at the world since Kate was taken. I hope he doesn't come here starting anything with any of the younger vampires. They will not take too kindly to his attitude. The younger vampires do not understand the importance of having good relations with the wolves. The young vamps are like Erick, hot-headed and ready to fight for no reason.

Erick needs to calm himself and let us help him. With or without him, we will raid the compound. If he wants Kate safely out, then he needs to listen to us. I have spent so much time trying to locate her and her miracle baby. The miracle baby, my grandchild, this child will be a powerful soul. Erick needs to understand that Kate will need the help of the vampires and the hybrids here to transition into her proper form. None of this will be easy for her or her child.

Jacklyn and Desire wait with me. They both know Macon and his compound well. The two ladies are warriors who take no shit from anyone, especially wolves. This meeting with Erick should be interesting. We have several more vampires willing to go in and help, but if Erick shows out, we will leave him on the sideline to wait for us.

A truck pulls into the drive. Jacklyn and Desire spot the wolves and stand to wait for them. Erick and three other wolves get out of the truck. Shawn comes up first the other three walk behind him. Shawn is a calm soul but a great warrior like his father. We could have done this without Erick, but Shawn insisted we include Erick. He did not want to lie to his Alpha. I can respect that.

"Shawn, I see you were able to convince Erick not to be bullheaded," I say.

"Yeah, well, he only wants to get her back. Try not to make things too difficult for him," Shawn says.

I have known Shawn since he was a pup. Lester, his father, was a good friend at one time before I got tangled up with Rainwater and fell in love with a wolf. Still, Lester did not deserve what happened to him by Macon, even if Lester did turn his back on me when I wanted to make Rainwater my wife.

"Alexander, I brought John and Trip with me to help get Kate back," Erick says.

"Good, we will need them," I say. Erick speaks calmly, but I can tell by his body language he is on edge.

"I am Jacklyn, and this is Desire," Jacklyn speaks up, extending her hand to Erick and the wolves. They exchange pleasantries.

"What is the plan?" Erick asks, getting right to business.

"Simple, we are going to storm the compound tonight. We are going to go in and take her. I suggest we kill everyone on-site with no hesitation," I say.

"That is your plan? We are going to just go in and kill everyone. What if Kate is hurt in the process?" Erick questions me. I can tell he is annoyed, but there is no simple way to get her out of the compound. Brute force is the only answer to this dilemma. "What would you suggest, Alpha. You think we can knock on the door and ask nicely?" Desire asks Erick.

"No, but I do not want Kate to get hurt in the process. She is pregnant and probably freaked out right now. The last thing she needs is to see a bunch of people murdered right in front of her," Erick snaps at Desire.

"Look, Wolf, I am not one of your followers. I do not really care what you want. I am offering to help because I am loyal to Alexander. I will make sure your wife and child make it out alive," Desire says.

Jacklyn places her hand on Desire to calm her down. "Look, there is no simple way to go in and get out. We have to surprise them and take her. There are no other options, Alpha. You have to trust us. We can do this, but this is the only way," Jacklyn says, trying to keep everyone calm. She is good at that. She is the level-headed one in the group.

"I get it. I only worry for Kate's safety. I want her home with me and her pack," Erick says.

"You do realize she will need us, right?" I ask Erick.

"Kate needs no one but me," Erick says.

"That is where you are wrong! What do you know about becoming a hybrid? You know nothing. She will need our help. Can you teach her how to feed? Hmmm. Can you help her with the craving she is going to experience? No, you cannot. So listen up, we will get her out, and then we will teach her how to be a vampire," I say sternly to Erick.

Erick backs down. He knows I am right. "You are right. I do not know anything about being a vampire. I only want to get her home safely," Erick says.

Erick steps off the porch and takes a walk. "Don't go too far; vampires are lurking around here that do not take too kindly to wolves," I say to him.

"John, stay close to him until he cools off," Shawn says. John steps off the porch and follows behind Erick. I understand he is worried, but he has to calm down and let us help Kate.

"When are we going?" Shawn asks.

"At nightfall, when the wolves bed down for the night, we will be ready to attack," I say.

"How many vampires are willing to help?" Trip asks.

"As many as we need. We all hate Macon and what he has done with Kate," I answer Trip.

"I will handle Erick, Alexander. You get your vampires ready," Shawn says.
