Kate's POV

I open my eyes and see Erick lying beside me. Am I dreaming? Did I really escape Macon? Where the hell am I? I reach out and touch Erick. I have missed him so much. I cannot believe I am away from Macon. My evil piece of shit brother and his sadistic wife, Angie. "Hey you," Erick says softly as he opens his eyes. I snuggle closer to him. It feels good to be in his arms again. Erick smiles as I move closer to him.

"Hey, nice of you to get around to getting me out of the dungeon. I was starting to think you forgot about me," I say to him.

"I wish I could have found you sooner," Erick says, touching my face. He looks as if he is going to cry.

"I knew you would get to me eventually," I say to him.

He touches my face so softly, going down my body and touching my visible baby bump. "I wish I would have been there when you found out," Erick says.

"Me too; it was a shocker for me," I say.

"I bet. Do you want to talk about anything that happened?" Erick asks me.

"Not right now, if that is okay, I only want to be here with you. By the way, where are we?" I ask him.

"Do not panic, but we are at Alexander's house in Seanet," Erick says.

I immediately feel panicked. "Why are we with Alexander?" I ask Erick. I sit up in the bed and feel as if I am going to have a heart attack.

"Calm down, and I knew you would freak out. Alexander helped replace you and helped get you out of the compound," Erick says.

"Did Shawn get back with everyone?" I ask. I do not want to talk about Alexander right now. That is something I will deal with later.

"He did, and he is fine. He is a little scraped up, but lucky for him. Imperials heal quickly," Erick says.

"All wolves heal quickly," I say.

"Not like you Imperials heal. He tried to mind-link with you when we were on our way to rescue you," Erick says.

"I know, I heard him loud and clear. I have not heard from my mother or the other wolves in a long time. It has been quiet in my head. Funny, when I needed the wolves and my mother, they abandoned me," I say.

"I did not abandon you, Kate. I love you," Erick says.

"I know you did not abandon me. I was not afraid. I knew you would come for me. Macon and Angie were not mean to me or anything. They kept me isolated, but I was fine. I do not know what would happen if he got his hands on this baby, but they did not mistreat me. Macon wants the baby," I say.

"You and the baby will need to be protected. This baby is something very powerful. Kate, I will not let anything ever happen to you or the baby," Erick says.

"Erick, we need to get a plan together for what is to come. We have no idea how powerful this baby will be or who will try to take the baby. We cannot trust anyone," I say.

"Kate, we have people we can trust. Some people have been in this with you and me. Cassie, Andre, John, Trip, and Shawn, all of these people, will lay down their life for this baby. We have two wolf packs backing us. So we have a tribe to protect you and this baby. So it would be best if you did not worry," Erick says.

I know he is correct, but I am afraid to trust anyone. I need to know more about my baby and what is to come. I need information, and the only way to get the information I need is to speak with the wolves again. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to get them to talk to me. I hope Shawn can help me with talking to the wolves.

"I want to go home. Can we go home?" I ask him.

"Alexander wants to see you before we leave. See him, see what he has to say, and maybe shed some light on the baby and the baby's powers. We need to know everything we can so we can be prepared," Erick says.

"I will see him, and I will try not to piss him off, but no promises," I say.

Erick kisses me on the forehead and pulls me close to him. I cannot get close enough to him after being separated for so long. I want to lay here and be safe and not worry about what kind of weapon my child is or what my child will be that makes my baby dangerous to others. I just want to be with Erick, be a wife, a luna, and pregnant with his child. Can I just enjoy this moment for now?

There is a knock on the door. But, of course, I cannot have my moment. There is always something happening in my life. I only want a peaceful existence, but I do not feel that is ever coming for me, Erick, or this baby.

"Just ignore it; maybe they will go away," I say to Erick.

"It could be important," Erick says.

"Yes, Alpha," I say.

"Don't do that," he says with a smile.

Erick goes to the door, steps out into the hall. I lay in the bed rubbing my baby bump. "Oh, Little One, we are in so much trouble. I have a bad feeling," I say.

Erick comes back into the room and sits on the bed. "Alexander wants to see you. I know you do not want to talk to him, but he is insisting he sees you. So, go see your father, and then I will take you home to our pack," Erick says to me. "Okay," I say to him. I think he is in shock that I do not argue. I will not argue if it means I can finally go home.

"Be nice," Erick says to me as I leave the room.

"No promises," I respond.
