POV

Kate falls into a deep sleep after she heals herself. It is the oddest thing I have ever seen in my life. A wolf can heal themselves, but not like this. Kate was almost dead when we arrived at the pack doctor's house. This type of healing is something supernatural. I have only seen a hybrid or a vampire heal like this. It has to be an imperial trait. Even the pack doctor found what happened odd, but he promised to keep it quiet. He took a sample of Kate's blood to test.

I pull into the Omega's house with Kate. I don't want to leave her here tonight. I have no idea what my mother might try to do if she replaces out what happened at the pack doctor's house. Cassie and Angie run out to see about Kate. The two come to the driver's side of the truck to talk to me.

"How is she?" Cassie asks.

"She will be fine once she wakes up, I think," I answer.

Angie looks into the truck to see Kate sleeping soundly. "She looks okay; I thought her ribs were broken," Angie says.

"It was much worse than that, she could not breathe by the time we got to the pack doctor's house, but she healed herself right in front of us," I say.

"She did what?" Cassie asks.

"She healed her broken bones and fell into a deep sleep," I answer her.

"The boys are not back yet. Can you help us get her into the house?" Angie asks as she opens the door to the truck.

As the door creeks on my truck, Kate opens her eyes. "Where the hell am I?" Kate asks.

"You are home," Angie says.

Kate looks at me and then back to Angie. "I feel tired," Kate says.

"Do you think you can walk?" Angie asks her.

"Yeah, maybe, I can try," Kate answers.

"No, wait on me," I say to Kate.

I get out of the truck and walk around to Kate. I reach into the truck and take her into my arms. I carry her up the steps onto the porch. Angie opens the door for me to bring her into the house. I carry Kate back to her room and lay her on the bed. I cover her with a blanket as she falls back to sleep.

I leave Kate to talk to Angie and Cassie. They are both waiting for me in the living room. "She will not return to the Alpha's house per his instructions. I have a new job for her, and I will pick her up every morning," I tell the two of them.

"We figured she would not be going back. What the hell happened?" Angie asks.

"Luna happened. She questioned Kate about her background and then lost her mind," I say to them.

"I told her to stay away from her," Cassie says.

"This was not Kate's fault. Luna started this and was mad when Kate told her who her mother was. There was nothing Kate could have done to prevent the argument. My mother was furious when Kate told her exactly what she did not want to hear," I say. "Are you going to help her replace her family?" Cassie asks.

"Yes, I am. She deserves to know the truth about her past. There is something that my mother said when they were fighting. My mother said that Rainwater was dead, and so is her child. I want to know why they think Kate is dead," I say. "So, Luna knew Kate's mother and her pack?" Angie asks.

I sit on the ugly brown couch in the living room with Angie and Cassie. "She knew her, and so did my father. There is a picture of Kate's mother in my father's office," I answer Angie.

"How did Alpha know Kate's mother?" Angie asks.

"Kate's mother and my father's sister were friends when they were young. He told me Kate's mother was the daughter of the Alpha," I answer her.

"This makes no sense. Why would the Alpha turn away his grandchild?" Angie asks.

"I do not know, but we need to replace out what happened to Kate's mother and why her father was kicked out of the pack," I say.

"There is only one reason an imperial would be thrown out of a pack. It had to be murder. Do you think her father murdered her mother?" Cassie asks.

"I do not want to make guesses about this situation. I want facts. There is an imperial pack close by here. We should go and see what we can replace out," I say.

"Do you think it is a good idea to take Kate?" Angie asks.

"I do not know, maybe. If the pack thinks Kate is dead, we should take her to show the pack she is alive," I say.

"What is there is a reason her father wanted the pack to think she is dead. What if she was in danger? There is so much we do not know," Angie says.

I think about this for a minute. Angie could be right. There might be more to this than we know. Hell, I know there is more to this than we know. If Kate is supposed to be dead, the old man could have lived that way to protect her but lost his way over time. Who knows? I will replace out. We hear movement from Kate's room. "I am going to check on her," I say to Angie and Cassie.

"I will make her something to eat," Cassie says.

I go back to Kate's room to see if she is okay. She is moving around but not awake. Angie comes to the door as I sit beside Kate on the bed. "Is it okay if I stay here with her?" I ask Angie.

"I don't see why it would be a problem," Angie says.

Angie leaves the room. I lay on the bed next to Kate. I hold her as she sleeps. She is talking in her sleep, but I cannot determine what she is saying. She suddenly sits straight up in bed. She looks at me lying next to her. Her eyes are a much deeper blue than before. "Are you okay?" I ask her.

"Yes, I heard wolves talking to me. It was bizarre and confusing," Kate says.

"Imperials are deeply connected to their pack. Your wolf is trying to connect with the pack," I say to her.

"Why now?" Kate asks me.

"I don't know, but I will help you replace out," I say to her.

Kate lies beside me. I hold her tightly. "I won't let anything happen to you," I say to her.

Cassie comes back with food for Kate. She sits beside the bed and leaves quickly. "Do you want to try to eat?" I ask her.

"Not yet; I want to listen to the wolves," Kate says.

She closes her eyes. Her eyes move rapidly, and she talks in gibberish. I wonder what the wolves are telling her.
