The Innocent Wife of Scheming President -
Chapter 519: An Explained Secret
“Do you really not want me to go with you?”
“Do you really think I'll get lost?”
When Olive got home, Chloe was sitting on the sofa in the living room applying nail polish and Mrs.Steele was beside her, knitting to make a sweater for her future baby grandson. They were talkingand laughing.
Chloe said, “Mom, you don't need to do this. Knitting is so hassle, just buy them as it's more stylishand comfortable.”
Mrs. Steele smiled, “I don't have anything to do anyway. Knitting is just for passing the time. Whenyou get married and have child, I'll knit for my future grandson too.”
Olive changed her footwear and walked over, patted Chloe on the shoulder. “You don't understand.Mom's knitted sweater isn't as old-fashioned as you think. Just wait and see if you don't believeme."
When she was a child, she didn't wear less. Each shirts were beautifully knitted by her mom thatmade her peers envy.
Chloe screamed, “Woman, can you make a noise when you come home? You're like a freaking ghostscaring people. Look at my ruined nails. Fix them.”
Olive laughed and said, “How? Should I chop my fingers for you?”
“As long as Mom is okay, I don’t mind,” Chloe said cruelly.
“Damn you.” Olive kicked her and sat down to help her mom knitting.
"Hey, the old witch didn’t come for you causing troubles, right?” Although Mrs. Steele deliberatelytold her not to say anything, Chloe couldn't help feeling upset.
"You've asked. It must be that today you had a fierce battle with her.”
Olive thought, it seemed that the old lady was hit hard enough today. Otherwise, she wouldn't runto the hotel in a hurry to question her. The old lady in the past was such a calm person. She tookcare of situation while maintaining her composure. Today, she was completely disregarding herimage.
“I'm just not used to her arrogant attitude. Fine if she wants the child. Does she need to be soirritating? The Steele doesn’t even owe her. It's her who should talk nicely now,” Chloe said angrily.Mrs. Steele had also stopped her knitting. “Yes, Olive. After thinking about it, mom still thinks thatyou can't be too casual about this matter. I'm not saying letting your mom-in-law go that easily. Shecan have the child, but she must accept you first into the Hoyle.”
Chloe chimed in, “Yeah. You have to join the Hoyle with dignity. The wedding that Alan holds foryou you is Alan's sincerity. If the old witch sincerely wants this child, she must hold you anotherformal ceremony in the name of the Hoyle Family.”
"Are these formal things that important?” Whilst Olive didn't think that much. Although marriagecouldn't withstand an intruder of a third person, the formal ceremony wasn't necessarily couldguarantee that the love would last forever.
Chloe exclaimed, "How can it not? Hey, stop being overly kind. You should defeat that old witch.”"After the Meyer's incident, the old lady has some mental problems. The doctor said she wassuffering moderate depression that has tendency to develop into serious problem. We can talkabout this later,” Olive didn’t want to take advantage of others.
“Depression” Mrs. Steele was slightly startled. Such strong woman could be knocked down?
Chloe was also stunned, but after a moment, she sneered. “Retribution. She deserves it."
Olive poked her forehead with her finger. “Please. Can you be kinder? She's also your Aoba'’smother.”
Chloe clicked her tongue. “Mine? He's still his and I'm still mine. Although we're dating now, we'restill independent individuals. Instead, I'm the one who should say please to you. Don't beoverwhelm with sympathy, okay? Maybe the old witch will take you for granted for your soft heart.”Olive shook her head and was about to elaborate when her phone rang in her bag.
Chloe carelessly threw her bag on the sofa and said, “Answer the phone first.”
Olive opened it to see that it was the old man who called.
“Uncle Norton?"
Mrs. Steele looked up when she heard Olive. Her eyes flashed mixed feelings.
Norton's voice came from the other end with a chuckle, “Um, girl, your mother-in-law didn’t troubleyou, right?”
Olive felt warm, “I'm okay. I'm home now.”
Norton sighed softly, “I really don't understand. You're a good girl who is polite, talented, and filial. You're a bright person. How can she not like you? If I have a second son, I really want steal herdaughter-in-law.”
“I'm not as good as you say. I'm blushing now,” Olive said humbly.
“I'm talking about the truth. I really like you, practical and capable. It's Mrs. Hoyle's great loss for notliking you.”
Of course Olive knew that the old man was comforting her, so she laughed, “Uncle Norton, can wenot talk about this? You're about to throw me to the sky.”
Outside the study room, Susan overheard Norton's phone conversation and her eyes darkened a bit.The more Norton liked Olive, the more he trusted her, then it would be more difficult for her tocarry out the plan. Olive Steele was her obstacle. She had to destroy this woman's position inNorton's mind. But what could she do to keep her from giving hints?
Norton smiled and picked up a document on the desk that he had just read. “By the way, Olive, there's something I've to tell you.”
"Yes?"
“Susan came back from the US this time and has made an overseas investment project. I've read itand felt pretty good.”
Olive laughed and joked, “Of course. You think your daughter is perfect at anything and there'snothing wrong. Am I right?”
"Oh? That sounds a little weird. It's like someone is jealous,” Norton beamed.
“Yes, I'm jealous. Don't you have to comfort my hurt little soul?”
Olive was half joking, but Mrs. Steele heard it through it was like the daughter was acting cutetowards the father. Maybe she didn’t notice it herself. But Mrs. Steele could see the naturalattraction between father and daughter. Now that she thought about it, she had been working sohard for the hotel. It wasn't a strange thing as she had known Norton Geve for a long time. But thischild had suffered.
Norton chuckled and said, “You can't get hurt. If you are, your man will skin me. I still want to live afew more years. I don't want to die early.”
