While walking up the staircase, Princess Amity asked, “So, where do you think he is?” “You’ll know in just a moment,” I told her. “By the way, Alexis, I was meaning to ask you something,” she said. “Sure, what is it?” I replied, curious. “I was wondering if you and Prince Frost are an item,” she said, twiddling her fingers. Her question caught me off guard, and I laughed as I replied, “No, Your Highness, we’re not. I never see Prince Frost like that; I always see him as a brother I never had.” As we made our way towards the music room, I took the lead while Princess Amity followed closely behind me. Even from a distance, the sound of the drums echoed through the hallway, growing louder with every step we took.

“You know, Your Highness, every time I come back from running his errands and replace him in here, I have a tradition of surprising him to give him a good scare,” I whispered to Princess Amber. “Well then, why don’t we drop one on him?” she whispered back with a mischievous glint in her eye. “I like the way you think,” I replied to her with a smile, feeling equally mischievous. As we approached the music room, we could hear the drums getting louder and louder. We carefully opened the door and peeked inside, watching as Prince Frost continued to play, completely engrossed in his music. He wore the same clothing that he wore when the Prince and Princess arrived. Without a word, Princess Amity and I quietly tiptoed towards him, trying to stifle our giggles.

When we were just a few feet away, Princess Amity suddenly stumbled and almost fell, letting out a loud gasp. Prince Frost stopped playing and turned around, startled by the noise. “Is everything alright?” he asked, looking at us with concern. Princess Amity quickly regained her balance and replied, “Yes, yes, I just tripped over my own feet.” We both tried to act casual and pretend like nothing had happened, but we could see Prince Frost’s suspicious expression. “Are you sure that’s all it was?” he asked with a smirk. We couldn’t contain our laughter any longer and burst out into giggles. “Okay, okay, you got us,” I said between chuckles. “We were trying to give you a scare.” “It’s bad enough I have to deal with Alexis when she comes back, let alone you, Princess Amity,” he replied as he shook his head.

“Prince Frost, why are you here?” Princess Amity asked him. “Oh, it’s nothing,” he replied, twirling his sticks. “I like to come here to calm my nerves.” “Are you nervous to meet Queen Amber?” she asked, tilting her head curiously. “Maybe,” he admitted with a shrug, “but I’m fine now. I just needed to clear my head before I faced her.” “I don’t mean to interrupt your conversation, but if you’re okay, Sire, I think we should head back to the dining room before Prince Thomas and Luke eat your share of breakfast,” I said to them. They both chuckled, and Prince Frost got up from his seat, placing his sticks on the drums. “Let’s go before I meet Queen Amber on an empty stomach,” he said as he walked up to us.

We chatted and joked along the way back to the dining room. “Did you know that Prince Frost used to write poems as a child? He would write them and ask me to read them aloud to hear how they sounded.” “That’s interesting,” I replied with a smile. “I didn’t know that about him.” Prince Frost chuckled. “Yes, it’s true. I used to write poetry when I was younger. But I haven’t done it in a long time.” “I think you should start again,” Princess Amity said, nudging him playfully. “I’m sure you still have a talent for it.” Prince Frost shrugged. “Maybe someday,” he said. “But for now, I have other things to focus on.” “By the way, Prince Frost, you look very handsome in that dark blue royal jacket,” Princess Amity told him as we reached the dining room doors. “Tha... Thank you, Princess Amity, for the compliment,” he replied, a bit flustered. “I’m glad you think so.”

“It’s about time you joined us,” Prince Thomas said with a grin as we entered the dining room. “We were starting to think you’d gotten lost.” “We were just taking a little detour,” Princess Amity said with a laugh. “But we’re here now and ready to eat.” Prince Frost took a seat, and Luke happily bounded towards him with his tongue out. Princess Amity and I took our previous seats, and we began to eat our breakfast. “Mmmm, this tastes delicious. Michael has outdone himself even with this simple breakfast,” Prince Frost commented, biting into his toast. “Actually, the credit belongs to Princess Amity and Alexis, who prepared our breakfast. Michael did, however, brew the tea,” Prince Thomas clarified.

Prince Frost nodded in appreciation towards Princess Amity and I, “My apologies, I didn’t realize. The breakfast is indeed amazing; well done to both of you,” he said with a smile. Princess Amity blushed at the compliment, while I thanked him with a nod. We continued to enjoy our breakfast, chatting and laughing with one another. Luke, sat beside Prince Frost, wagging his tail happily as he watched us eat. As we ate, I glanced at Prince Thomas, waiting for him to meet my gaze. When he did, I subtly signaled for us to leave the table. “I must change into my attire for my meeting with Mother,” Prince Thomas announced, rising from his seat. “Sire, if you would kindly excuse me, I must attend to Casper in the stables to prep him for the Queen’s arrival,” I said to Prince Frost. He nodded, and I left the table, following Prince Thomas outside.

“What’s going on?” he asked me in a hushed tone. “I just wanted to get out of that room; there were sparks flying everywhere,” I replied. “Sparks? What kind? I didn’t see any,” he said, peeping through the door crack. “Idiot, I’m talking about the kind of sparks that arise when two people are attracted to each other but won’t admit it,” I said, rolling my eyes. “And how do you know that?” he asked with a raised eyebrow. “Let’s just say I have a feeling,” I replied, not wanting to reveal too much. “Interesting, but how can we replace out for sure?” he asked, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. “I have an idea,” I said, returning his grin. “Let’s play matchmaker and see if we can get them to confess their feelings.” Prince Thomas laughed, nodding in agreement. “Sounds like a plan. Let’s do it.”

“I didn’t think a knight like you would dabble in matchmaking,” Prince Thomas said with a grin. I thought you were more into swords and shields than arrows of cupid.” I grinned at his comment and replied, “Well, just because I’m a knight doesn’t mean I can’t help people replace love. We shared a laugh before I added, “But don’t worry, Prince Thomas. I won’t let any love interests distract me from my duties. After all, I have a reputation to uphold as a knight.” My first priority is protecting the kingdom, not playing with hearts.” With that, I headed towards the stables, leaving Prince Thomas to change into his formal attire. As I walked away, I couldn’t help but grin to myself. Who would have thought that a knight in shining armor could also be a matchmaker in disguise?
