The Last Option
Chapter Fourteen: Goodbye, Lover

John Rivers woke up in bed and, after remembering where he was after the wild night he had, stretched his arm looking for her but did not feel her. He turned and found she was not in bed. He listened to the sound of the shower and smiled, getting up and thinking of saying good morning in his own way. He staggered a little from his hangover and, after holding on to the bathroom door for a few seconds, stepped inside.

Rebecca Hicks was taking a shower, she felt his hands on her waist but didn't flinch. Not even when he kissed her neck and nibbled on her ear did she react. She continued to remove the soap as he pulled away visibly upset and wet. "What is it, baby? Are you upset about something?"

She remained silent, when she finished she turned off the shower and took the towel, drying herself slowly.

"So?" he asked when she didn't answer him.

She barely gave him a glance and, drying her hair, came out of the bathroom. He followed her, still intrigued. "Are you not going to talk to me?"

John went back to detailing Rebecca's body, which was slim and firm wherever it was seen; her straight golden hair fell to her waist and he liked that. He knew her breasts weren't natural but they looked good without being too big. He noticed her buttocks, firm and natural, and felt a rush of desire he could not hide. She looked at him and smiled slightly, knowing the effect her body had on her young lover. He came closer and hugged her; she looked into his eyes without expression. He kissed her on the lips but she didn't reciprocate. Resigned, he turned away and sat on the bed.

"I give up. If you don't want to tell me the reason for the indifference, I won't insist more."

She finally made up her mind to tell him why she was upset.

"You overindulged at the disco last night; you were very drunk and drugged. I had to ask two strangers to help me bring you to the hotel, and they wanted to go overboard with me while you drool in the bathroom." "You also got high," he claimed in turn, "and from what I remember you had a great time too. Besides, you are already used to doing it."

"Yes, but not to the point of falling unconscious like you. You are losing control and that doesn't suit me."

He got up and went to her, holding her by the waist and trying to ease the tension of the situation with a forced smile.

"It was just a little oversight," he said, trying to kiss her at the same time, to which she refused. "Besides, look where we are: in a luxurious room of a hotel in one of the best cities in the world, especially for lovers."

Rebecca Hicks and John Rivers had been in Paris for a week, where they had arrived from Amsterdam, where they had in turn spent three weeks. They met when she traveled to London a month ago, at an exclusive nightclub, and they immediately liked each other, leading to a new relationship in her life. John was practically a scrounger who took advantage of the money of his lovers, who made sure they were wealthy like Rebecca, having an expert eye to identify them the instant he saw them. His physical appearance favored him, since he was athletic, handsome and young, and at twenty-five he had already traveled a good part of the world. Rebecca liked his vigor and energy, especially in sex. At thirty-nine she preferred men younger than herself precisely to better enjoy what they had to offer her.

But, as always happened in her carefree life, she began to get tired of her lover on duty, when she found negative details that could affect her, no matter how good a lover he was. John would not be that exception. Losing control of his life even for one night was a serious fault in his character she was unwilling to forgive. In addition to being a young and good lover, Rebecca looked for in her lover a strong man, sure of himself and determined, in control of his life, regardless of whether he dedicated himself to being a scrounger or not. John was the second man who enjoyed her money and did not matter to her as long as the sex was good, but now that she saw him from another perspective, he no longer liked her.

She will miss the good sex she had with him but no way, in the world there are many more men, and she was sure she will replace another who is at her level, or maybe better.

She pulled her arms away and headed for the dressing room. He stayed in the middle of the room, still upset by her attitude.

"I'm going to have breakfast," she told him as she dressed. "Pick up your things and go. This is where you and I have come."

John paled. He immediately approached her again and making her turn towards him, he again grabbed her by the waist. "Are you so upset that you plan to leave me stranded here?"

He tried to kiss her but she rejected him again, removing his arms from her waist.

"You will replace another woman," she told him, beginning to dress again. "It's what you know how to do, right? Live on the money of us millionaires. You'll be fine."

"You can't leave me like this!" John was terrified of being left alone and penniless in a city he didn't know. "I will do what you want! I won't get high anymore! Whatever."

"All I want you to do is get out," she said quietly, putting on an earring. "If you are still here when I come back, I'll tell hotel security to kick you out."

"You can't leave me like this! At least give me some money!"

She turned to see him, putting on the second earring. In her gaze, John could see she was determined to kick him out.

"If you had at least learned to get money from us and save a little, you wouldn't be in this situation," she turned to the mirror again and finished putting on the earring. "It wouldn't have worked for me anyway; I don't usually give money to anyone. Thank me for paying your ticket and your stay until today."

John had no choice but to leave, praying God would put another millionaire woman on his way to get close to.

That same night, Rebecca Hicks was already targeting another potential lover.
