The Last Royal Luna -
(Book 2) – Chapter 33
Nina had made some great food for lunch and after introduced me to the rest of the kitchen staff. She had three helpers who worked the same hours she did and they seemed like best friends. All were women, of course, as I wouldn’t expect anything else.
The Alpha finally called a meeting to talk to all of us. He asked that the Luna be there but before I could even speak all my mates said no. Asher and Edgar were guarding her room right now. He did invite Diamond but with how she was acting I am betting he scared her enough to keep her mouth shut. I needed to replace out where Dexter had been hiding so I could make him those cookies.
“Thank you all for coming. Our guests have important business to discuss with us and asked to wait till this meeting to tell me what it is about. So proceed Ryder.” The Alpha stated once we were all seated around the meeting room table.
“As you all know my parents were killed by the vampires and witches who took us out. Those same vampires and witches now hunt our kind for sport, they use us to do their bidding, and take our children just because they can. My parents wanted me to come of age and take back what is ours. That is exactly what I have planned.” I looked at my mates instead of the Alpha since his scowled hadn’t moved all day.
“They say the wolves with several mates are the most powerful. It is the truth. I have six mates and still have one more out there. Each time I get stronger and so do they. My pack gets stronger from me and the hard work they add in every day. We have joined forces with several vampires and witch covens who don’t agree with what is happening. I am planning a war to take back what is ours and to once again be the strong wolves we are. I would like for this pack to join us. We already have two covens joining us, a clan of vampires my mate Edgar runs along with Charles as his second, and Alpha Roger’s pack. We are training every day, learning techniques to use against the enemy, and studying up on the best attack strategies. Everyone is doing their part so that we are ready. I know we will win and then be the top of the food chain once again.”
I looked around the room and saw the hope in the top warrior’s eyes. The Beta seemed to be pissed I even brought up the idea so maybe he didn’t think we were strong enough. Leif looked hyped up so that made me smile until I saw the Alphas face. He looked ready to cut me into tiny pieces before feeding me to wild predators.
“Why should we trust you with leading this war? Your parents died when we fought back last time and they were the strongest there was. I saw you fight and it wasn’t anything special. You are too young to know how to lead or how to follow orders. So what do you bring to the table that will make us want to risk our lives?” The Alpha asked and even with the underhanded s**t talking they were good questions.
“Great questions.” I stood up and started to pace to think better. “First let’s tackle the risk our lives question. You risk it everyday as it is when they could attack you at any time just because they can. You are at risk when you travel into town because they could take you with no warning. They have witches doing black magic to make you weak, vulnerable, and make you an easy target. You are at risk everyday because they won last time.” I looked around the room and saw half the heads nodding in agreement.
“True but we haven’t had an attack in months so we shouldn’t just bring their wrath onto us.” The Beta argued but he was just speaking out of fear.
“Why wait for them to keep attacking when you could take them out completely? I am young and the only thing I have been a leader for is gym class during dodgeball. I will mention that my team dominated.” I got a small chuckle from the group. “I was born to take them down. I didn’t get a memory to hold onto from my parents. I don’t know their voices sound like, how my dad’s heart sound when I laid on his chest napping, or the words to the songs my mother would of sang to me. That is because of them. I owe them their death for not only that but for the deaths of my people. They have hurt us and killed us for too long. It is vampire and black witch hunting season and I plan on getting my fair share. I won’t be leading anyone into the war or staying behind protect like a breakable princess. I will be right there beside all of you taking them down and breaking us free.” I had my hands fisted so hard I could feel the trickle of b***d coming from how deep my nails were.
“I am sorry you lost them so young. Anytime you want to hear stories about them I will tell them to you. On the subject of the war I don’t think we will be joining in this time. I have to think of my pack and we don’t have that many of us who are trained enough to make a dent in the war.” He stood up. “Thank you for thinking of us and visiting us. Where will you be headed to next?”
“You didn’t even ask your pack what they thought or wanted. You may have the final say as the Alpha of this pack but they have the right to be heard.” I held back a growl. “And we can’t leave until we deal with your Luna.”
“I don’t have to ask my pack anything. They believe I know what is best and that is part of being the Alpha. You will understand once you have actual experience.” He smiled at me. It looked creepy on his face. “I will deal with my mate and see she is punished. Don’t worry.”
“You won’t be doing any punishing. She voiced treason against me which trumps any rights or laws you may have. And we still have the pack meeting this evening. Just remember that if they want to be in the war they have the right to leave your pack. Hopefully you ignoring their rights works in your favor.” I spat out and headed toward the door.
“I want to fight with you, Ryder. Even if I have to renounce my place and pack I will be fighting in this war, Father.” He looked between both of us before standing and walking to stand with us.
“How DARE YOU? You will be going NOWHERE! You are are my heir and as such you will follow in my footsteps.” The Alpha growled while walking toward us. The Beta walked by his side with smirk on his face. Yea, I think he had a touch of crazy in him.
“We shall see, Alpha.” Leif walked out of the room and my respect for him bloomed.
“We will see you for dinner and the meeting. After that we will deal with Luna Faith.” Before he could argue any more we walked out and slammed the door behind us.
I linked Alistair with a crazy idea. ‘Alistair, will you ask the leader if she knows why the vampires don’t attack this pack very often? There is no way it is because they are scared of them since there is barely two hundred wolves here.’
‘You think something is going on? Like a deal made between the two?’ He replied.
‘Exactly. I need to know and who to trust because I am offering them to join us at our pack if they wish to fight or even wish to leave. This is a s**t show and I would prefer not to kill another Alpha.’ He laughed and said he would get back to me.
