The Last Royal Luna
(Book 2) – Chapter 25

We stopped after driving for about four hours and we barely made it that far. We were all wore out from all the walking at Six Flags plus the big rush of adrenaline in the parking lot. We picked a random hotel and just booked two rooms. My mates and I were sharing while Melissa and Alistair were sharing. Our room has two kings and a sofa with a pull out so we are good to go. It was more than we wanted to pay but we were worn out. I even paid extra for a later check out time of three in the afternoon.

I woke up to all our phones ringing over and over. I was smashed between Asher and Edgar on the bed and they both were like bears with a fish on how tight they held onto me. I didn’t understand how they were sleeping through the alarms and I needed them to stop. So I did the only thing I could do to wake these big boys up quickly. I gave them both purple nurples and they sure got up fast while twisting away from me.

“What the hell, Ryder?” Asher yelled as he rubbed his chest.

“Why would you do that?” Edgar hissed as he held his chest like I was going to attack his n*****s again.

“The phone’s keep ringing and you two wouldn’t let go of me. Now someone answer their damn phones.” I grabbed the ones by us on the charger and shoved them into the owners’ hands waking up the rest of the guys.

“Hello?” I answered my phone.

“Ryder? Are you ok? Are the guys, ok? Where are you?” My yelled out without a breath in between questions.

“I am ok. The guys are all right here. We have another three hours of drive time before this next pack. What’s wrong?” I could hear the guy’s conversations with whoever called them and it seemed they were all going about like mine.

“Oh thank the goddess. We got word that you all were being chased by vampires and one of you got hurt. They said it was bad enough we may have to come to you and help out.” I could hear her doing her breathing exercising to calm down.

“Who did you hear this from? We were ran off the road as we walked to our car last night but we are all fine.” Who the hell is keeping tabs on us and why would they call our families making it sound worse than it was.

“It was a wolf from another pack who got the information from a vampire near where you were a few days ago. Hold on the girls want to say hi.” She put the phone on speaker phone and I could hear the girls fighting over who got to talk to me first.

“Girls! I miss all of you and I want to talk to you all. I don’t have much time right now so hit me with the headlines.”

They told me about what sport they decided to go out for, the art they have done, and the matching outfits they got for the fourth of July. They got a new swing set for the back yard and they were all helping dad with the garden. They missed me a lot. I missed them, too. I made sure to tell them a care package was on their way so to keep an eye out for it. I may have gotten them some odds and ends at the different places we have stopped or stayed at.

“Ok. I am back. The girls saw dad outside with the water hose so I am now preparing for soaking wet floors.” My mom laughed and it felt good to hear that from her.

“Listen mom. I think the person who called wasn’t really looking to give you information. They wanted you to get it from us to replace us or follow you if you decided to head where we are. I think it best if no one outside of our group and the next pack we are seeing knows where we are. I just want you safe and if you don’t know where we are they can’t hurt you for the information.” The guys heard me and nodded in agreement before they told their families the same thing.

“I understand and that is a good idea. I just hate all of this. Once you get back I need some mother daughter time and I want to show you how to do some small spells that a non-witch shifter can do. It may help when in the middle of a fight.” I agreed and we said our goodbyes.

Alistair and Melissa were knocking on our doors before we could talk about what just happened. By the look on their faces they had just dealt with the same thing. Why is our enemy smart? In the books you read most of them are about as smart as a box of rocks or only half cooking.

“I vote we have a good buffet type lunch somewhere before heading to the new pack. What is the name of it again?” I looked at Asher for that answer.

“White Moon. I also visited this pack on my year long mate search. We should really talk about that.” He rubbed the back of his neck and avoided eye contact with me.

“I don’t want to do it just yet. I want a good lunch with my family and good conversation to get us pumped up. On the drive we can talk and I promise to not shove you out of the moving vehicle. I will only day dream about it with a smile on my face after I hear about the things you did to the different girls.” I shuddered before kissing his cheek and heading into the bathroom.

“Boy… I am gonna pray for your a*s.” Melissa laughed evilly before heading back out the door to pack their stuff up.
