Chapter 1543 Must Bear With It

As soon as they arrived, Vivian, who missed her mother, quickly alighted the car and dashed into thebuilding. “Mommy!”

Kurt, too, got off the car after her. After paying the driver, he retrieved Vivian's luggage and headedinto the temple.

"You're back? Come here. Let me see if you've lost weight.”

Standing before him was a familiar figure.

She had clearly lost weight, and her face looked more haggard compared to three years before.Anyone who saw her would not help but feel sorry for her.

"Hello, Mrs. Hayes,” Kurt greeted

"Oh. Kurt is here too. Take a seat, you two. I'll make some spaghetti for you kids. It'll be done soon.”Sasha was happy to see the two kids return. She immediately put down the medicine and was aboutto make them a meal.

Noticing that, the shy Kurt went over to stop her. “It's okay, Mrs. Hayes. I can cook. You can goahead and settle your matters. Just leave this to me.”

“Huh?” Sasha was stunned.

Vivian chimed in and said to Kurt, “I'll help too. Let's go. We'll prepare the meal and not interruptMommy taking care of Daddy.”

With that, the girl pulled the boy along and left.

Sasha smiled when she saw the scene, and she had no choice but to remain in her spot andcontinue preparing the medicine.

This is actually a good thing. The kids are now grown up and are learning to help out. This is great.Who knows? I might not even have to do anything once they're older. And Sebastian can just relaxin peace once he wakes up.

At that thought, her eyes brimmed with tears.

Located outside of the temple was a kitchen built by Sabrina and Edmund when they first came tothis place.

As soon as Kurt entered the kitchen, he took out a pot and began filling it with water to cook thespaghetti. He acted as if he was familiar with the place. Meanwhile, Vivian, who had been spoiledsince young, merely stood by the side and watched him blankly. “What should I do? Tell me. I'll helpyou.”

After a long pause, Kurt finally said, “You can prepare the greens.”

He never thought of getting her to do anything. However, her constant chattering left him nochoice but to pass her a basket of leafy vegetables to deal with.

Vivian took over the vegetables and went out happily.

Ten minutes later, when Kurt was done cutting up the meat and other ingredients in the kitchen, hewent outside to look for Vivian, wanting to get the leafy vegetables from her.

He found her sitting by the river, humming while peeling the vegetables with her fingers.

However, all the vegetables were gone.

All that was left in the basket were just the ends of it.

Seeing him walking over, the girl, who was happy being busy, pointed at the tiny bits of vegetablewith a look of pity on her face and said, “Oh? You're here. I'm almost done washing them. But don'tyou think this is too little? Look at this.”

Kurt was at a loss for words.

After a long pause, he picked up the basket.

“Where are you going?” Vivian asked.

Kurt gritted his teeth and said, “I'm going to get more vegetables.”

Get more vegetables? Is that fun?

Her eyes lit up again, thinking this would help to lessen her mother’s burden.

“I want to go too. Wait for me. I'm going with you.” She quickly ran to his side. Worried he mightnot let her go, she quickly wrapped her arms around his.

Kurt, who was still walking, stiffened at her actions.

He really wanted to pull her arm away and make her stand in a spot so she would not cause troubleanymore.

The meal took more than an hour to prepare.

When they finally finished eating, Vivian tagged along with her mother to the pharmacy. Kurt, onthe other hand, went to the temple's room after cleaning up the kitchen. As soon as he entered theroom, he saw the man, who was still unconscious, lying on the bed.

“Mr. Hayes, I'm back.” He approached the man and stood respectfully before him.

It was as though Sebastian was standing before him, and he did not dare to act rudely.

“Mr. Hayes, I'm already studying at Clearwater High School. I've also been keeping an eye on Ms.Vivian. Don't worry. I'll make sure to protect her. Once you're awake, you'll see her standing beforeyou, alive and well,” Kurt promised as he stood before Sebastian.

The truth was, he would say these words every time he came here for the past three years.

The first part of his speech would always be reports of his progress. In fact, everything had beenprearranged by Sebastian before Sebastian was in that state.

Back then, Sebastian had suddenly asked him to begin training at SteelFort. Unfortunately, beforeKurt could complete a year of training, a mishap had befallen the former.

After that, Karl had sent him to a junior high school and told him that Sebastian named him KurtLopez. The reason for that was that Sebastian said he liked the meaning of the name.

Generally, the name “Kurt” had a meaning of someone who was brave, loyal, and intelligent.

With this meaning in mind, Sebastian had put all his hopes on the next generation. Although he hadfallen, he could still rely on Kurt, his sons, and all the other children that were still growing up.

It was safe to say that his name had a profound meaning.

Kurt, too, understood Sebastian's intentions.

Since then, he started carrying the responsibility he had always wanted—to protect the people hewanted to protect the most.

And just like that, he stood in that room for a long time, lost in his thoughts.
