The Luna's Hidden Destiny
The Luna’s Hidden Destiny – Chapter 88

(Mila)

I could feel his heartache from here..wincing from the pain that my mate was enduring. It drove me to push harder, to know that I was causing that pain crushed me..but it made Calypso more determined than ever. We would never let our mate hurt like this again.

We neared the river where the warriors once found me before. That’s when I told Ian and the rest to start lagging behind. I needed to go the rest of the way by myself. Ever since I crossed the borders it was almost like I felt him watching me..my skin was crawling and the air a thick with a sense of dread.

With a safe enough distance ahead of the rest, I neared our old woods. The scents seemed so foreign and unfamiliar, leaving a bitter taste in my mouth. This wasn’t my home..this was a place I was no longer fond of. I quickly shifted, changing into my long-sleeved black shirt and matching leggings as I brought out the watch. I quickly clasped it around my ankle, wanting to keep it hidden for wherever we would end up. I wasn’t an idiot…I knew Marcus had a dark witch with him. I knew she could use it to teleport and cast spells…But I also knew I needed to get those girls safe..that’s why I agreed in letting Ian, John, and Dan come. Because I need them to save those poor innocent girls.

I quickly tied my shoes and set my backpack by a tree. I walked slowly through the forest, knowing I was close to the cabin. Suddenly the smell of soot and ash filled me, the sun was now just rising as I looked through the clearing up ahead. Right in front of me was where the cabin should be but instead I was met with charred ruins. The cabin had been burned down to nothing. I knew instantly that Rowan did this…I can’t blame him…I too felt the urge to destroy it..but seeing it now made me feel…sad.

Like all of those years with the man I thought was my dad truly meant nothing. They were all lies, my whole childhood was one big lie.

My heart began to ache, and those feelings I tried so desperately to bury away began to resurface. Grasping at my throat and making it hard to breathe.

Walking forward, I looked down at the rubble, seeing the past eighteen years turned into dust. I guess it’s fitting, considering those years meant nothing anyway.

That’s when I heard a branch snap, the hair on the back of my neck stood up as the air grew thick with tension. He was here… I lifted my head, hearing someone walk towards me as I raised my gaze. My heart stopped…Rowan, he had already come..how did he replace me so fast?

“Rowan…I’m sorry..” I began, looking at my mate as I stepped forward.

Then I realized all too soon, my world came crashing down around me as the man I was looking at was in no way my Rowan..he looked exactly the same, and yet…he was like those Rowans in my dream..a shell. I shook my head, wondering if I had fallen asleep somehow, seeing this shell of a man walking towards me as my stomach knotted tighter with each step he made.

“My girl, I knew you would come.” The man said..no..this wasn’t just any man..that voice..that chilling voice.

“M-Marcus.” I stuttered, were my eyes deceiving me? How was I seeing my mate and yet it was this man…

I felt Ian trying to reach me…I closed my eyes so he wouldn’t see me linking..so he would think I was alone.

‘He..he is here but he looks like my mate..like Rowan.’ I linked quickly..closing the link so Marcus wouldn’t catch on.

“Look what that man did to our home Mil. Look how much he destroyed our lives.” He hissed, those blue eyes I love so deeply, now cold and full of hatred. How did he do this..how was this even possible?

“Why..why do you look like that?” I managed to croak out..my throat was now dry, making it hard to even speak.

“Oh, this…I thought it would help you, to accept me better. Considering we will be mates..it’s my gift to you..my sweet girl.” He smiled wickedly, his words making bile hit the back of my throat. He might look like my Rowan..but I would never accept him..no way in hell..he is nothing like my mate.

‘Mila get control of yourself..you needed to calm down.’

Calypso shouted, reminding me why we are here.

“The girls..where are they.” I asked firmly, not wanting to waste any more time.

“Always so straight to the point…I guess I did raise you that way.” He smirked while taking a step toward me, causing a chill to run down my spine.

Examining him further he slowly looked less and less like my Rowan..making it easier to remember why I despised this man so much.

“I will free them, but I need to see your commitment first.” He said, now mere inches from me as he reached his hand out, taking a strand of my hair and bringing it up to his nose while he inhaled deeply.

“F**k I missed you.” He g*****d, causing my stomach to turn.

“What commitment..” I whispered, trying to ignore his piercing stare.

“A k**s.” He simply said..making my eyes widen as this evil version of my mate stood before me. K**s him? The mere thought made me want to rip his throat out..but the girls…I needed to know where they were.

“Then you will let them go?” I asked, trying to meet his gaze without throwing up.

“You have my word Mil.” He smiled, his finger twirling my hair.

“Let me see them first.” I blurted, not trusting this horrible man one bit.

“You always were a smart girl.” He laughed, snapping his fingers as a group of rogues appeared out of the trees. How did I not sense them here? They must have used something to hide their scent.

A group of six girls all similar in looks were tied together by the wrist. My eyes wandered through their scared faces..anger filling me as something began to bubble up inside me. Like a pure rage I had never felt before…

“Let them go.” I commanded, my hands clenching into fists as I began to shake uncontrollably.

“Not yet sweet girl, not until you fulfill your end of the bargain.” He smirked, his hands now gripping the sides of my waist as every muscle inside of me screamed.

Before I could even make another move, the ground began to shake as Ian’s wolf barreled toward us. Puck snarled and snapped his jaws as he tried to race for the girls.

Marcus tried to force himself on me, making me push back as he gripped me even tighter.

“You think you can just get those girls and go..you are wrong Mila..you are mine and you will never leave me again!” He yelled crazily, a loud whistle leaving his mouth as dozens of rogues began appearing out of the woods.

Shit no..it wasn’t supposed to go like this. He was supposed to let the girls go first. This is too risky…now they are in even more danger than before.

‘Ian you were supposed to wait!’ I shouted, into the link.

‘My mate..my second chance mate is here.’

He panted, desperation filling him as I looked at the girls, noticing one particular one staring at Ian with wide eyes..his second chance mate…
