Axel's POV

My fingers drummed continuously on the wooden desk in front of me as I thought of the best approach I could take that wouldn't involve me mating with Violet.

I have been on it for days now but nothing came to mind.

"Why? Because her parents are murderers? Or because you are too scared to admit it?" My wolf whispered.

I stopped drumming abruptly as my wolf's silly words brought a perfect solution to my problems. But first, I had to ease off the pressure in my loins so I didn't do something stupid when I went to inform Violet of my decision.

I got off my chair and walked out of my office. I headed straight to the room I used for my concubines. Before walking into the room, I instructed the guards to get me, Hilda.

Inside, I sat on the bed and waited for Hilda.

She came in shortly afterward. Her sharp and precise knocks were enough to signal her arrival.

"My King," she said with her head bowed. "What can I do for you?"

"Get me one of my women," I said, letting my fingers run through my hair.

"Would you prefer Savannah-"

"No!" I countered. I still hadn't ruled her innocent with what had happened to Hera. "Get me, Thalia, instead."

"Of course, my King." Hilda gave another bow before she moved out of the room.

I was hoping Thalia's gentle face could bring me some peace and help me release some of the tension in my muscles so my wolf didn't overreact when I finally spoke to Violet but as she stepped into the room, her presence did nothing to the turmoil in my chest. I had the strong urge to send her back, but she was here already, asking her to leave would be uncalled for. They would see me as indecisive or maybe weak; those were traits my father told me to avoid.

I let out a deep sigh and beckoned to her to come closer. "I need you to massage me..."
