The Lycan Series -
Bullied By The Lycan King Chapter 57
Violet's POV
"I don't know who she is..." I said, shaking my head.
"All I know is that she came from the west coast and Axel had kept her as a prisoner ever since," I told her.
Emily watched my every move as I spoke and I couldn't blame her. She probably didn't trust a single word that left my lips and I wouldn't blame her for I would have done the same if I were in her shoes. I couldn't trust myself.
"She has been wanting to work with you or make you a part of her team, yet, you don't know her fucking name?" She blurted out her eyes narrowing.
I spread my arms on my side and shrugged; "They call her the widow and that's all I know," I retorted with as much sincerity as I could muster.
"The widow... What sort of weird shit is that?" Her face pulled into a frown and she stared hard at me.
Once again, I shrugged; "that's what they call her. I don't know..."
Her eyes left my body and she stared into space for a few seconds before she got off the bed and started pacing.
Her fists were balling and reopening as she walked across the room. Then all of a sudden as if she had remembered something, she stopped pacing and looked at me.
"We need to see Greg. This is a fucking big deal and I have a feeling there is more to the cursed witchy widow than she is letting out," she said, motioning to me to get up.
I agreed that the Widow was no ordinary woman. There was something about her that I also wanted to know but I didn't know if teaming up with Emily was the right thing to do.
I tried to think as fast as she moved me and a perfect idea occurred to me. Since she was already going to Greg and because I had told him about my encounter with the widow; it meant that they didn't need me.
I got off the bed and joined her at the door; "Beta Greg is aware of this," I chirped as we both moved out of the large doors.
She paused for a second and stared at me from the corners of her eyes. "Okay, that will make this fucking easier then."
She was about to resume moving but I held back her hand.
"Hold on..." I said and she stared at the hand holding her before moving her eyes to my face.
Before she could speak though, I voiced out my thoughts; "I was thinking that... Since Beta Greg already knows about this, then there is no need for me to join you," I said, pulling up a wide smile.
Her eyes narrowed at my smile and she closed the distance between us in seconds.
"You are a fucking suspect in an attack against the Lycan King and you think you can smile your fucking way out of it. Are you f*****g dumb or do you think I am the dumb one here?" She gritted as she breathed down on my face. My throat suddenly went dry as I felt every portion of liquid within me drain.
"Now, don't make me fucking drag you to Greg. Be a good f*****g human and follow," she hissed and turned away from me.
Without another comment for either of us, she led the way to Greg's office.
When we got to the door, she didn't even bother giving it a knock before she pushed the knob and pulled the door open.
Beta Greg was working on some files on his table and he had his entire focus fixed on it.
He only lifted his head when Emily pulled a chair and noisily plop into it.
"What's going on?" His eyes moved over mine and back to Emily as he waited for her response while eyeing his work from the corners of his eyes.
"It's about the woman called the fucking widow. I feel like there is something about her that we are f*****g underplaying here..." Emily said.
Greg dropped his pen and pulled his hands on the table. His eyes seemed to glow as if he was finally meeting another half of a puzzle.
"She has been searching for ways to kill Axel ever since she got here," Greg admitted. "It was Violet who brought it to our notice."
Emily moved her eyes to me as if to pass a message to confirm if I had indeed brought the information to him before she flashed her eyes back to him.
"And what have you fucking done to her since? You caught her planning on how to kill my nephew and you did nothing?" She screeched in disbelief.
"No, I didn't do anything." Greg's eyes had gone smaller than their usual size as he glared at her.
"If you speak about this matter to Axel, you will replace that he wouldn't believe you, and taking matters into my hands without notifying him would end with the same scene..." Greg explained himself.
Emily got off the chair and held the table for support as if the chair wasn't helping her understand what he was saying.
Greg on the other hand was not moved by her behaviour. He sat there calmly and watched her.
"And what fucking scene are you going to get?" Emily hissed as she slapped her hands on the table.
"Axel considers the woman to be some kind of jester that reminds him of the old world. He wouldn't want to kill her and anyone who does would have serious problems with him."
"Even now that she is fucking hell-bent on carrying on her sinister plans?" Emily snapped. "No, Greg, Axel isn't f*****g stupid. I have a recording of their conversation. I have the proof that we need. We have to tell him." She insisted. "We will have to stay calm and handle things on our own before involving him-" Greg was trying to explain before Emily cut him off.
"Stay fucking calm you say?" She snapped. "I have stayed for fifteen years without my family and now that I have found Axel... Now that I fucking found one of them, you want me to fucking stay calm while some witch plans on how to kill him?" Silence fell between them as Greg weighed the options before him.
Emily on the other hand, let out a deep breath and took back the chair she had abandoned.
"The woman wants Violet to kill Axel and since Violet refused her next target is Savannah. Who the fuck is that?" Emily asked.
Greg got up from the chair and came around the table to where Emily was.
"Savannah is one of the concubines..." He said and then added, "But since you have the evidence, let's go speak to Axel."
As he said the words, I felt something shift within me. If they told Axel about this and he listened to the recording, the widow wouldn't be the only one getting punished. My parents would fall into the same pit.
But before I could speak, Emily saved me.
"No," she suddenly snapped and turned to look at me. There was a sinister smile in them that made me shift uncomfortably in my seat.
"But you said we should tell him," Greg said, a cloud of confusion sitting on his features.
"Yes, I said that but I think you are right. Axel is as stubborn as his father. He wouldn't fucking listen even with the record... He would rather get angry about the wrong things," she said the last part with her eyes on me and I knew exactly what she meant. Greg let out a sigh and then he leaned on the table as he looked at her; "So, what do we do?"
"We investigate and we fucking attack. First, we take out her pawns and leave the one we can trust," she said and once again, her bright thoughtful eyes settled on me.
"What do you mean?" Greg asked her and I was grateful for that question because I had the very same thing eating at the back of my mind.
"You said that Savannah is a concubine... Axel doesn't even use them anymore." Her voice was filled with an emotion that made me feel anxious.
Since I was involved, it scared me to try and decipher it.
"So what are you planning?"
She snapped her fingers and beamed at him. "We send them out of the castle. We are at war, they can return to their families, and as for the widow, I am going to keep close tabs on her. Starting from now," she said and I felt my heart shift in my chest. Greg nodded and started moving away from the table; "you are right. Savannah and Thalia are no longer needed. But you need to speak to Axel before executing this," he explained.
"Sure. I will. In fact, Violet and I are going to him right now," she declared and I felt my heart turn cold at once.
