The Lycan Series -
The Lycan King’s Breeder Chapter 29
Talon's
POV
I promised myself I wasn't going to overreact in this situation, but Monty was pushing his luck.
Last night when I had left the party after dealing with more of him than I could take, I ended up with Avalyn. I had ignored Greg's calls. I had ignored the guards asking if I was all right. I had even ignored Willow's concerned looks as I walked out of the dining room. The only person that could calm me was the green-eyed girl on my mind -Avalyn.
The memory of her standing with the blanket by her window flooded my mind. She was so beautiful, and I knew she would produce strong children the moment I laid my eyes on her. There was just something about this girl. And then Monty had ruined it all.
I knew he was interested in Avalyn before he even said so. The main reason I had even asked for Avalyn to be kept in her room was that people would see potential Luna material when they laid eyes on her. Monty had seen just that!
The fact that anyone would be interested in Avalyn once they saw her was no big shocker. I didn't know if I wanted her locked in her room for protection, maybe because I didn't want the news of my human breeder situation spreading around packs or maybe because I didn't want other Alphas to lay eyes on the green-eyed beauty that was Avalyn.
Was it jealousy? I honestly didn't give a shit what it was. All I knew was that she belonged to me and no one had the right over her and her sweet body except for me!
I watched as Monty ran his stupid eyes up and down the girl's body, only looking back at me after she was long gone.
"Avalyn..." He rolled her name around his tongue like a snake. "She's beautiful, I wish I had someone like her with me. It's been so long since I laid with a beautiful woman."
Tristan laughed at his son's stupid comment. As if I'd ever let him lay his hands on Avalyn again. He would be dead before he even got the chance to.
"Guess you'll be seeing her tonight Monty for a good lay, yes, she's so beautiful. But for the next Luna of Moonstone, you have to get a werewolf of good bloodline, not just some maid," Tristan added, making my blood boil.
I should have been excited that Tristan didn't plan on making me give them Avalyn as a mate for his son. It was supposed to be a relief that he only thought of her as a good lay but that wasn't the case. His remarks angered me. Who did these people think they were? Coming into my pack, my territory, to talk shit about-
"I would like to remind you that Alpha Talon still has a lot of meetings to attend before dinner tonight," Greg said, plastering his biggest fake smile as he indirectly shut them up. "If that is everything, we'll like to be on our way. Enjoy the rest of your stroll without us."
Greg knew me well enough to realize I was already losing my mind and he had to get rid of them. One more comment from either father or son and I was going to end someone's life.
"Very well, Beta Greg, we'll be on our way now," Tristan said.
I watched Tristan and his son go. Taking deep breaths, I tried to calm myself. They were lucky Greg had been here to keep me grounded. Only the goddess knew what I would have done to them, had they said any more stupid thing about Avalyn. "One of these days, I'm going to rip his head off," I growled, baring my fangs.
"No ripping of heads off, Talon!" Greg sighed turning to look at me. "What's going on with you?" He asked. "I know Monty's an idiot but I've never seen you like this. Is this about Avalyn?"
"It's not because of Avalyn. Monty's crossed the line with me a few times. If I didn't have to play diplomat, I would have ended that boy ages ago. Unfortunately, we both know why that can't happen." My disgruntled feeling towards the situation was clear, I was pissed. Even Greg grimaced at how my voice reeked of venom. "We've got a bigger problem." I sighed.
Greg looked at me with worry. "Well, what is it?"
"Seems like there was an attack on my cousin's pack last night. I just got off the phone with his Beta this morning and it's serious."
"How would you like to proceed, Alpha?" Greg asked, remaining quiet and waiting for his orders.
"We'll leave in a few days after entertaining our guests. Call Raiden he is in the neighboring pack, he can hold down the fort here with warriors while we're away. I need him back here tonight." I had to have Greg with me. Something about the situation didn't seem right, and he would be the only one to keep me from unleashing hell upon them all. Raiden was my father's beta, if anyone could hold down the pack in our absence, then it would be him.
Greg stared at me with a hesitant expression on his face, as if he wanted to tell me something but didn't want me to get angry.
"Spit it out, Greg! What's wrong?" I snapped
"Emily is in Dark-moon pack now, she's supposed to be there for a few weeks before coming down here."
Greg's words took a moment to sink in and I found myself speechless. My sister had been in my cousin's pack for weeks and nobody thought to let me know. The last thing I had time to deal with was my little sister creating havoc. "Why the hell am I just hearing about this now?!" I could feel my blood pressure increase as I yelled. Greg held his ground but I could tell he was uneasy.
"I apologize Alpha, but there's been so much going on lately." Greg tried to reason only pissing me off more.
Goddess.
This was going to be one hell of a day.
