The Lycan’s Rejected Mate -
Chapter 175
Caliana's
POV
After my quick visit to the packhouse, I walked to the manor slowly, my hands in my jeans, and was lost in my thoughts when I received a notification on my phone, my account had been credited by the pack's finance department, how do they have my bank details? I called Mr. Tim. I waited for him near the park and in ten minutes, he arrived with his van. He took off his white cowboy hat and waved at me.
"Good afternoon, Luna!"
"Hello, Mr. Tim,"
I got into the van and we went to an open market to get supplies for our stray friends outside our borders.
"What are we getting this month?" Mr. Tim asked with a smile once we stopped.
"I think we should get some clothing for them, foodstuff and medication and if there is change, we can get some books and toys for the kids," I informed him. I notice they sent an extra ten thousand to my salary.
"You might want to check the medication off because the hospital sent it to them last week," he informed me and I was shocked.
"The director sent medicines for the strays? That man didn't like them at all,"
"An order from the top, he had no choice,"
"But who exactly?" I inquired, curious.
"I don't know really, I was just sent to deliver it and the director was not happy at all," he chuckled and I did too. That man looked rude and had no sympathy for others' situations.
We started shopping, we got everything on my phone list and we got help loading the supplies in the van. By the time I was done, I was so exhausted.
"You'll take them early in the morning and please send my regards," I hollered and he drove in the opposite direction.
I reached the manor when it was dark outside. Once I entered the house, there was chatting and laughter in the entertainment room.next to the grand foyer. The brothers were entertaining guests. I tried to walk silently to my room but I wasn't so lucky. "Is that the Luna?" I heard a feminine voice ask.
"Luna Caliana," Jamal called me. I looked at my appearance first, I was wearing ripped jeans, a tank top, and boots while they were all smartly dressed.
I stood for a while but he insisted so I went to them.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this Is the beautiful Luna of the Golden Stone Pack, Caliana Meyers," He said with a smile.
"Caliana these are a few allies of ours,"
"She's indeed a beauty," Alpha Tyrone said, he was a man in his late forties. I greeted the other Alphas and Lunas. My mate stood next to me, this is the first time we were standing close to each other in a long time and my heart was palpitating in my chest. I was given a glass of wine by Luna Hope, she was a beautiful young lady who was mated to the Alpha of the Red Stone pack, Alpha Branson. I took it and drank it slowly. I tried making up excuses to leave but I kept being dragged into conversations.
"Luna Caliana, are you attending the opening of the thanksgiving festivities? The Black Stone Pack is hosting it," said Luna Hope.
"I'm not sure yet,"
From what I heard The Black Stone Pack are enemies of the "Golden Stone Pack but every year of the last month, shifters celebrate their lives and how far we've come. They start the season with an Alpha thanksgiving ball that is hosted by a different pack each year. This is the one-time Alphas put aside their rivalry and wars to celebrate together. People party and eat to their heart's content.
"I hear Elder Scroll will be in attendance, just to make sure that no fights shall occur," adds Luna Carol. As the ladies discussed their outfits of choices, I remembered something;
"Luna Carol, you mentioned that your husband is a pharmaceutical scientist didn't you?" I asked, straying from the topic of new fashion brands they were discussing. She nods proudly. "Yes, he has a whole lab and we supply packs all over the world. Do you need vaccines or medicine?"
"Yes, I do,"
I figured that the reason the strays outside the gates easily get sick despite having shifter blood is the lack of vaccines, if we can vaccinate them from different types of diseases it might help. "Tyrone works closely with the scientists in your pack, I doubt you lack in that department,"
She chuckled. I sighed, all these Lunas were more interested in jewelry and playing the part of pretty Lunas, always standing behind their men, I wasn't like them. I liked being in the field.
"I don't think I've been properly introduced to Alpha Tyrone, can you do that please?"
"Well, he's talking with Alpha Michael right now and when those two talks, trust me, you can't understand a word and it goes on for hours,"
"Alpha Michael of Yellowstone pack?" I asked.
"Yes, he's a big shot in pharmaceutical science despite his young age and partnered with my husband," she informed me and I nodded. My eyes trailed to Alpha Michael, he was in a serious conversation with Alpha Tyrone. I put on a perfect smile and excused myself before approaching the duo. Michael was excited to see me but kept a distance. Alpha Tyrone left and the Alpha of the Yellowstone gave me his full attention. "Cali, long time, how are you?" He asked with his gentle smile. I frowned and he sighed,
"What troubles you," He asked.
"I need a small favor,"
I tell him what I need from him and he is perplexed,
"And why are you doing this?"
"They need help and if I can I will," I told him.
"Well, you are one of a kind, Cali, most Lunas wouldn't even have time to step outside the comforts of their gates and especially talk to rogues... You amaze me," He smiled. A shiver ran down my body and I didn't need to turn around to know that Alpha Edward was glaring at us. The Alpha next to me picked up as well and scooted further with me but he had a smirk on his lips.
We continued discussing the strays when I felt an arm circle my waist.
"Since when do you two chat," Alpha Edward repressed a growl from his chest. I attempted to step away from him but he tightened his grip on me so I stayed.
"We are becoming friends, your Luna is an interesting, woman,"
"Just like you've mentioned MY Luna," He emphasized," Now why don't you stop trying to befriend her and focus on replaceing your Luna," His teeth were gritted as he said the words. "Okay," Alpha Michael agreed, he looked at me and said " I'll see what I can do about it,"
I nodded, knowing what he meant.
