Chapter 197

Caliana's POV

I interacted with the guests and soon, the chef announced that the food was ready and we should go into the dining room. I sat on his left and dinner went on well, everyone laughing and chatting away.

After dinner, we partied lively for a bit and danced the night away, however, anger fueled me when I saw Melody trying to seduce my mate. She had a few drinks and was now shameless. Alpha Edward wasn't even entertaining her and I enjoyed watching her reaction to that.

We retired to bed almost after midnight and we were both too tired to even shower, we just got under the covers and slept.

The next morning, we woke up late and when we did, we had a terrible headache.

"Coffee," He groaned, massaging his temple.

"Okay," I mind-linked one of the kitchen chefs and a few minutes later, they brought us food and coffee.

We went to the salon and sat to eat, there were all kinds of food.

"What do you want,"

"I want meat and lots of broccoli," He said. I served him while he poured me a cup of coffee. We ate our breakfast silently but the door burst open and Love walked in, singing, it sounded so loud to my ears.

"Stop, please," I sighed, closing my eyes at the pounding headache.

She laughed and threw herself on her father's lap. He fed her vegetables but she spit them out on a napkin.

"Dad, I hate broccoli," She grimaced.

"You both look unhappy. Is it because you were drinking last night?!"

"We don't drink," We answered in unison.

"It's okay. I understand that adults drink when there is a party," She shrugged her shoulders and smiled.

"Thank you," I grunted. I drank more water and sat in a comfortable position.

"It's the beginning of a new month!" Love was joyfully announced. I said a silent prayer of thanks, I was thankful for Love, Edward, and the whole family. I was smiling as the daughter and father bickered about something. After breakfast, Love convinced us to go to the park with her. I got in the passenger seat and Love at the back as Edward drove us there. I took a few goofy pictures of this moment even though I know it will forever be treasured in my heart.

Reaching the park, we did all sorts of things and despite my disapproval, I was forced to go on the rollercoaster.

"This is so FUN!" Love exclaimed, standing between us and taking us to the next ride. Afterward, we went to the photo booth. I sat on the Alpha's lap as we took goofy pictures, I was even bold enough to kiss him.

"Lemme see, lemme see," Love ran to us as soon as we came out of the small booth. I showed her the pictures and she smiled, putting them on the chest.

"I love when we have fun together!"

"Me too!" I cheered.

"Should we go in next, Cali," She asked and I nodded.

We had the most fun there and we decided to have ice cream.

"Joseph is the best ice cream maker in town," Love informed me as we went to the ice cream truck. There were people there and most of them came to pay their respects. They watched us with smiles. It was too open and we weren't going to have so much fun so I suggested we go to the ice cream shop. A waitress took our orders; I had vanilla, my favorite, while the Alpha and Love got blueberry cheesecake and lime.

Love was teaching me a game when I noticed the female waitress slip a small piece of paper into Alpha Edward's pocket, it probably had her number on it. I didn't react or show him that I saw it.

"Excuse me," I said and went to the bathroom to refresh. I was pondering on what to do. How dare that b***h give him that in my presence and why didn't he throw it or approach her! I felt like screaming but composed myself. I was still looking in the mirror when our waitress came and I clenched my fist. She eyed me once and bowed,

"Luna," She acknowledged. I scoffed and crossed my arms against my chest.

"So you do know who I am,"

She smiled, "Of course, everyone knows you in the pack,"

"Then what was that sneaky business you did back there?" I narrowed my gaze at her. I hated that she fudged innocence as if I was making it up.

"What did I do," She asked innocently, if I didn't see it I would believe her. I didn't have time for this so I left the bathroom. I was still angry but as soon as I saw Edward throw the note along with the empty bowls of ice cream, all anger went away. My wolf danced happily. I soon joined them and we continued chatting and playing all sorts of games with Edward cheering us on.

We went home in the late evening and Love was sleeping in her father's arms. We retired to bed and I slept next to my mate, surrounded by his intoxicating scent. During the night, his arms wrapped around me and I felt his racing heartbeat, he was trembling slightly. Was he having a bad dream again? I tightened my arms on him as well and softly kissed his lips, his body reacted and calmed down.
