The Lycan's Soul Mate
Chapter 15 The Truth

Soccorah got home and told her parents that she had to go over to herfriend's house but to her surprise the told her that they needed to talkto her and denied her permission to go. She sat down and asked whatit was about and saw her coach seated in the dining room. “What isCoach doing here? Am I in some kind of trouble?” she joked.

“Luna there is something that we need to talk about. This discussion islong overdue but we just didn't see the need to bring it up till heshowed up again” her mother said. 17 years ago, I met your dad. Hehad no wife and was living here all alone with his baby daughter.... Hewas so lost and hurt that he could barely manage to take care of youhimself. I started helping him with babysitting and one thing led toanother we fell in love. “She explained. “What? Are you saying what Ithink You're saying?” Luna shouted with tears in her eyes. “Please justlet me finish.”

“Your father and I had our ups and downs but we just wanted to keepyou safe. Before he died, he gave me instructions to keep you safe. Heleft a trust in your name and asked that we keep you safe and that iswhat we have been doing all your life. We tried to keep you safe but Ihave no idea from what?"

Luna bursting with anger and trying really hard not to lose it blurtedout; “Are you trying to tell me that you are not my mother? Who is mymother then, where is she? What happened to her? Why did she leavemy father and me? And why did you wait this long before telling me.” Athousand thoughts went through her head. Why didn't her fake of amother never tell her that she was adopted. Why did she wait untilCoach had to force them to telling her the truth? What the hell wasgoing on? She deserved answers and she had the right to getting them.“I spent so many years wondering why I looked nothing like you. Mydad was gone. It was your job to tell me the truth. What of my family. You knew about my medical condition; you knew that I neededanswers; if you care about me, they way that a parent, should youshould have told me the truth. You never loved me.” “What of this trustanyway. I barely have anything. You always dress up to the nines, I havehad to settle for everything mediocre. How much is in this trust anyway.I'm 17-years-old. Don't you think that I should have been privy to thatinformation?” she shouted unable to keep her anger inside.”

“What; did he have to threaten you to tell me the truth? What role doeshe play in this anyway.... Tell damn it!” When Luna shouted the houseshook. Lucian noticing what was happening came up to her and spokecalmly asking her to settle down. His voice managed to subdue heranger. “He is your uncle. Your father's brother.” He was to be yourguardian in the event of his death but I couldn't let him replace youbecause I had raised you. I couldn't let him take you away so when hecame for you, I told him that your father didn't have a child and I hidyou until I was sure that he believed me and left.” Her mother said.“You kept my family from me? Who does that? Do you even realize howscrewed up and selfish this is? You took me to a shrink and made itseem like I was sick when he may have been able to help with my familyhistory. How could you do this to me? You're dead to me.” She said toher mom and walked away. Michael called out to her “Luna, sit down.don't walk out on your mother. I know that you're upset but she raisedyou. She deserves better.”

Luna looked at Michael and said; “The two of you deserve each other. Ihave spent my life living in the shadows but no more. I have abided byall of your ridiculous rules that never seemed to be enough for you. Shealways took your side. She always tried to please you and have me dothe same. Well, that's over.”

As Luna walked out toward the porch Lucian followed her and aske fora moment. She sat down next to him on the porch and rested her headon his chest and let her pain and sorrow out. The tears flowed like ariver as she couldn't believe what had just happened. Lucian strokedher hair and rubbed her back to comfort her. “I'm sorry that you had togo through this but it was the only way. You needed to know the truth.”She cried her eyes out then when she settled, she looked up at him.“How do I know that you are my family anyway. Who is to say that youare not after this trust that I know nothing about?” Lucian pulled downhis turtleneck to reveal a crescent moon shaped birthmark on his neck.“Your father had one just like it on his arm and You have one on yourbutt. I saw you as a baby. I loved you so much. I have never stoppedsearching for you. I knew deep down that you survived. You look somuch like your mother.”

Luna looked at him still shocked by this whole revelation and told himthat she had a prior engagement and was running late. “This is a lot totake in so I'm spending the night at a friend's house. Don't really wantto be here right now.” “Understood. But here's my number. Please don'thesitate to call if you need anything. I'm always available to answer anyquestions that you have including what happens to you during the fullmoon.” He said as he left the house.

Luna ran upstairs, grabbed an overnight bag and left for Soccorah’shouse, grateful that she had been extended this invitation. It couldn'thave come at a better time. Soccorah would definitely serve as adistraction from this sham of a life that she'd been living. As she walkedover to the house, she started to get a hint of the scent that had hergoing crazy on her first day of school. This time it calmed her. She tookit in and followed it surprised that it led her to Soccorah’s house.
