Chapter 29 Emergence Of Luna's Powers

Luna felt like crying but knew that if she did then her makeup would beruined. She breathed deeply a few times and managed to composeherself. She was brought back to the few times that she had spent withLuca and seeing him in his wolf form. She never told anyone that shehad met him in her dreams even before she knew him. She thoughthow he would gaze at her when no one was looking and the gentlenessin his eyes when he looked at her. She thought about the firmness ofhis body and hoe well-built her was. His body looked like that of a godand she thought that it could take a hit.

All those nights that she'd gone to sleep dreaming that she was lying inthe comfort of his embrace she thought to herself” I can’t lose him toher. What does she have that I don't?” Just then she felt her hands andeyes get hot. She looked down at her hand and saw that she washolding a flame. a flame which had emerged from her and was not inany way hurting her. She then tried to get rid of it before anyone saw itbut instead it was replaced by ice.

Luna took a few deep breaths and she was human again. She could notrisk this happening again so she walked up to the main table to heruncle and before she could tell him what was happening, she collapsedin his arms. Luna was burning up. Her uncle scooped her up and wasabout to take her to the car to get her home but the Lycan King, theprince's father and Lucas’ grandfather asked to take her to the guestroom to not disrupt the ball.

He called one of the tribe's elders to see Luna. She was burning up andmumbling strange inaudible things. When he arrived, he told the Kingthat Luna was the one whom he had seen in his vision. Lucian realizedthat she may be going through a change. He explained that Luna wasonly beginning to understand what was happening to her and that shemay be going through some changes. He realized that her powers maybe emerging. He smiled as he brushed her hair. “We just need to keepher comfortable. She's going to be fine. The very same thing happenedto my mother and her great grandmother before her. Luna is special.She is able to manipulate the elements but I am not sure how much shecan do as she is only learning. Something must have triggered her as itis happening so fast. You may return to the festivities. I will stay with myniece.”

Luca was dancing with Nina when he suddenly became uneasy so hedecided to return to sit with his father. When he got to the table hisfather, grandfather and Lucian were all missing. He was surprised. Hewondered what he'd missed. About fifteen minutes later his fatheremerged. “Dad, did something happen? Where did everyone disappeartoo?” he asked. “Lucian’s niece is feeling unwell, your grandfather askedthat she be brought to the guest quarters until she recovers. Her uncleand Your grandfather are with her now.”

Luca was got up in a fit “I'm sorry did you say his niece? Was she hereat the ball? Why is she unwell? What happened to her? Which room didyou take her to?” I need to see her. she’s a friend. I mean she’s a friendof Soccorah'’s. I need to see how she’s doing so I can tell Soccorah.” Hebegged. “Luca, you have a responsibility. Her uncle is with her. Thiswhole gala is for you. You need to choose a mate. At least pretend tobe interested. All these families went through so much just to presenttheir daughters to you today. You have a responsibility to at leastacknowledge these girls. You have spent a quarter of the evening withNina. Have you chosen her?”

“God Nina, if she were my mate then I would have known a long timeago she's more like a plaything. She throws herself at me every chanceshe gets. That is sure as hell not who I want to spend my life with. I'mhoping that it will be someone who is my equal, someone whochallenges me wo pushes me to be better and yes someone who setsmy soul on fire. That is not Nina.” He told his father. “Well then I'm gladto hear that you have your priorities straight. But you owe it to the restof your guests to indulge them even if you have to pretend. You cancheck on Luna after the party. She's not going anywhere.” He smiled.Luca relaxed and did his father's bidding. He danced with all the girls atthe gala and took his time to make them feel welcome and special. Hewas quite good at that besides who wouldn't want to be touched byLuca even for a second. He was so perfect and godlike. Toward the endof the evening the old King announced that a mate had not been foundand that the festivities would continue at a further date.

Nina was furious that Luca did not choose her. How could he not. she'dgone out of her way to ensure that she secured that place. She neededto be his mate. She vowed that she would have him if it's the last thingshe did. She stormed out of the ballroom and went to the woods tomeet someone who had promised that she could help her accomplishthis.

Luna was burning up and had been brought back to her dream of Lucaunder the tree in the garden on the moon. All she could think aboutwas luca and how he never noticed her. He chose to dance with Ninaand never Acknowledge her. She felt hurt and her heart was breakinginto so many pieces. She didn't know how to recover. She finally settledwhen she felt someone gran her hand. She opened her eyes and herfever was gone. She looked up and saw Luca sitting next to her on thebed almost tearful asking her to open her eyes.
