The Mafia Bride (Katrina and Silas) -
Bride 21
Chapter 21
Silas POV
The ride to the warehouse was filled with silence.
Phillip and I rode in one car and the rest of my men rode in another behind us.
I was filled with the need to get this over and done with, but I still wanted to be cautious.
I couldn't ignore the fact that this could be a trap and Diablo's men could be waiting for us there,
"Don't you think we should have some men stake it before we charge in? If it's a trap, we could lose a lot of men," Phillip asked, staring at me through the rearview mirror.
The thought had crossed my mind, but we didn't have a choice here..
We had wasted a lot of time while we were searching for this place, and I couldn't risk missing what was here.
"We don't have time to waste." I said to him, leaving no room for arguments.
"We've spent too long looking for this place. If we hesitate now, we might lose our chances."
I expected Phillip to understand what I meant because he knew how important this was.
Phillip's eyes flickered to me once more but he didn't press on. He turned his attention back to the road.
He knew better than to try to convince me to turn around. We were already so close
And I was his superior he and no choice but to believe me.
But still, I couldn't deny that he was right.
This could be a trap for all we know.
Diablo could have set the plan perfectly, knowing that I wouldn't back down
He gave me a bait that was too hard to resist and I bit it.
But that was the risk we had to take.
And if it truly was a trap, well, then I'd deal with it the only way I knew how.
By fighting back.
The warehouse came to sight and I met Phillip's eyes through the mirror once more.
It was finally time..
The area was deserted, as expected.
No one came out here after dark unless they had a death wish.
The perfect place for Diablo-to do whatever he wanted.
I clenched my fists tightly.
The feel of the cold metal gun tucked inside my jacket reassured me and slowly I relaxed.

Chapter 21
Since when did I lose my cool! This was going to go exactly like we played.
But somehow, I couldn't shake off the feeling in my stomach.
I had to do this and get it over and done it, we had come too far to just back down.
As the car rolled to a stop a few hundred yards away from the warehouse, I took a deep breath, steadying myself for what
was to come.
The air was thick with the faint smell of the ocean hanging in the air, but underneath it, there was something else.
"Are you good?" Philip asked, staring at me.
His eyes met mine once more, worry hidden in them.
Not wanting him to worry. I nodded my head.
I just feel werd
"You probably ate something bad. Let's get this over with and go home," Phillip killed the engine immédiately.
For a while we both sat in silence, staring at the building in front of us.
We had already discussed the strategy we were using to attack and all we needed to do right now was to move in.
In the cars behind us, my men waited. I had chosen the best of men to follow for this mission to ensure it goes smoothly. They were ready for anything, at least, I hoped they were.
The only thing they waited for was my signal to move..
I couldn't afford to lose any of them tonight. Not to Diablo. Not to whatever trap he might have laid for us
"Ready?" Phillip asked quietly, his voice cutting through the thick silence.
I nodded, my hand already reaching for the door handle.
"Let's get this over with."
As I stepped out of the car, the cool night air hit me, sharp and biting against my skin.
I sucked in a sharp breath as I scanned the area for any source of life but came up short.
They had to be inside.
The moon stood in the middle of the sky, its rays casting soft shadows around us.
The warehouse was large, one of the largest around here.
It was going to take a while to replace what we were looking for.
And the fact that it was too quiet didn't sit well with me.
I gestured to my men, motioning for them to follow as Phillip and I led the way towards the building.
The sound of our boots against the hard ground seemed impossibly loud in the quiet night as we stepped forward.
Every step brought us closer to the warehouse, but the uneasy feeling in my gut only grew stronger.
Chapter 21
Something was most definitely wrong.
A voice in my head asked me to stop this operation, tum my men around, and lead them back to the safety of the mansion. But I didn't choose to be their don for safety.
The darkness felt heavy as if it was pressing flown on us from all sides. But there was no turning back now.
We reached the large metal door at the front of the warehouse, and I paused, signaling for my men to fan out and take their positions around the perimeter.
The had to scout the building or anything.
II Diablo had men waiting inside, we'd be ready for thent.
Phillip stood beside me, his hand resting on the gun tucked into his holster, his eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of
movement.
Lexchanged a glance with him and he nodded his head. He was ready.
I pushed open the door.
The metal groaned loudly as it swung inward, revealing the dark space inside.
The interior of the warehouse was large, with rows of old, rusting machinery and stacks of crates casting long shadows across the floor.
The only source of light came from the moonlight through the broken windows high above.
It wasn't much light, but for now, it would work.
For a moment, everything was still. Silent,
Not even the chirping of crickets could be heard.
I raised two fingers, asking my men to hold. I could hear something in the distance.
But then, the unmistakable sound of slow, deliberate foorsteps echoed through the space.
I froze, my hand tightening around the grip of my gun as the footsteps grew louder and closer.
And then, from the shadows, he emerged
Diablo
He stepped into the dim light, his lips pulled into a smug smile as he took in the scene before him.
His men stood behind him. I couldn't see them because they had blended in with the darkness perfectly well. But I was aware that we were surrounded.
The air shifted, crackling with tension, the previous calmness of the night gone.
"Well, well, well," Diablo drawled, his voice smooth and mocking His eyes mockingly stared at me and my blood boiled.
as you fool." He said, tutting as he shook his head
My heart hammered in my chest, but I kept my expression cold
I couldn't let him know that I felt uneasy.

Chapter 21
I had expected him to show up, but 1 still felt uneasy,
"I could say the same about you, I replied, keeping my voice stealy,
"It's over, Diablo,"
Diablo chuckled, the sound dark and amused.
My lips pulled into a frown as I watched him, uncertain of what he found amusing.
"Over? Oh, no. This is just the beginning." He gestured to his men, who stepped forward, their guns glinting in the dim Light
There were more of them than I had anticipated, at least double the number of my men.
Each of them aimed their guns at us, ready to fire.
"Salas, Phillip called out under his breath, pulling his gun out of his holster.
My pulse quickened, but I forced myself to stay calm. We were already at a disadvantage but we could still turn this around
"Did you think it would be that easy?" Diablo continued, shaking his head in mock disappointment.
He had been expecting me all along, wasn't he?
"You've walked right into my trap, just like I knew you would"
I knew it.
The prisoner was just a way to lead us here. But I wonder how long he had been waiting, expecting me to come.
I clenched my jaw, anger bubbling within me,
He had planned this all along, luring me here with the piece of information at the price of his man's life. I felt like a fool but I couldn't dwell on my mistake for long.
We were surrounded. But I wasn't going to let him win.
"Kill them," Diablo ordered, his voice turning cold as he waved his hand dismissively.
Everything happened in slow motion,
In the blink of an eye, guns were drawn, and chaos erupted around me.
The deafening sound of gunfire filled the warehouse as my med opened fire, returning the shots from Diablo's men
Bodies littered on the floor, bullets clattering.
I ducked behind a stack of crates, my heart pounding as bullets whizzed past me, bouncing off the metal walls.
The air was thick with the smell of gunpowder coupled with the heavy stench of blood..
I couldn't help but notice that there was more of my men lying on the floor, dead.
We were being wiped out faster than I could imagine.
This was most definitely not going in our favor
pushed up from where I took cover, firing off a few shots at Diablo's men.

Chapter 21
Three of them fell to the floor, blood seeping out of their wounds as they took their last breath.
Mu gun clicked, a sign that I had ran out of bullets and I quickly reloaded the gun.
any more.
I had just killed three, but there were so many
1 I could hear the shouts of my men, their voices strained with effort as they fought to hold their ground.
We were outnumbered, but I wouldn't back down.
9.76%
From the comer of my eye, I saw Phillip take down two men in quick succession. His movements precise and efficient, a reason he was my second in command.
He was a force to be reckoned with
But even he couldn't take them all on
The warehouse had become a war zone, filled with lead bodies and blood of both
parties
I had to end this.
My eyes locked on Diablo, who stood at the far end of the warehouse, watching the fight unfold with a satisfied smirk on his face
He wasn't even fighting, he was just watching, reveling in the destruction
His men did all the work he needed them to do and he didn't even have to get his hands dirty.
Thinking of all these made my blood boil and I knew I had to get him
It just got personal
Darting out from behind the crates, I ran through men as I made my way toward him.
Bullets zipped past me, and I could feel the tension of the fight pressing in from all sides.
But I didn't stop.
Not when I was so close
Just a few more steps, and I would have him.
Raising my gun, I pointed it at him when a sharp pain tore through my side, stopping me in my tracks.
I stumbled back, holding onto a crate as I tried to replace my balance
My side felt like it was burning and I pressed my palm against my body.
I realized what had happened immediately but I had refused to believe it.
Raising my fingers to my face, the bright color of red stared back at me, mocking in.
"Silas!" Phillip called in shock and I raised my head to look at hum.
"You've been shot,"
